  1. Here is a link to an article about foreigners unpaid hospital bills.

Destitute foreigners in Thailand and unpaid hospital bills - Pattaya Mail

I can understand that the Government might be concerned about Baht 450 million

in unpaid hospital bills. It does, however, seem that a requirement for US$ 50,000 insurance is excessive. The article refers to the Baht 300 levy for incoming tourists, part of which was to deal with this problem.

What is not stated is the breakdown between short term tourist and long stay expats. That would be an interesting statistic if available.

    Visa regulations have not changed.

You can enter Visa Free (Visa exempt stamp on Entry - 30 days), or apply for a Tourist visa or any other visa depending on your situation and required length of stay.

For the Thai Pass: You need all your ‘documents' in order / booked / paid for before hand.

You will not need to submit the Proof of PCR negative test to Thailand Pass (because that is too close to the flight) - you present this proof at Airline Check-in and upon arrival in Thailand.

Thank you for your last paragraph; I was wondering about that.

Now I am none the wiser, but better informed.

  3. As I read the opening up requirements, "transit/transfers ...is not allowed".  Taken literally this must mean direct flights.

How many countries/cities outside of SE Asia and Middle east have direct flights to Thailand?  Where available they tend to be more expensive than one stop flights. Worse still it might mean flying TAG which is even more expensive.

Please tell me I am wrong!!

To attract visitors transit should be allowed, if necessary with conditions. Such as:-

    • A time cap on the lay-over, e.g. 8 or 10 hours;
    • Boarding passes for both legs must be issued at point of origin; and
    • Baggage must be checked through for both legs at point of origin.

The last 2 are the norm anyway.

Perhaps we only need a bit of clarification from the Government.

  4. What are the public holidays and observed days this week?  When are banks and government offices closed?

Should be easy right?  Check the internet.  Trouble is I am getting a variety of different answers; not helped by my Outlook calendar is definitely out of kilter. Does anyone have the definitive answer?

    Thanks

  5. Actually the fire escape issue was not a cost cutting measure.  It occurred when the developer decided to change the low block to a hotel.  A hotel needs more lifts than a condo and the extra 3 (?) lifts were built at the expense of the width of corridors and staircases aka fire escapes.

As far as I know Bali Hai might have more liabilities than assets, but it has not filed for bankruptcy.  The bank is owed more money than the land is worth in its present state and Park Plaza (PPHE) may well be in the hole for some of that.

  6. I had the problem when I tried to open the vaccination certificate, the app closed. I was on the point of reloading the app when suddenly worked.

One tip -  when you open the certificate do not close it - close the app instead.  When you open the app again the certificate will still be there - most of the time anyway - even with no internet connection.

Out of the almost 700,000 medical workers who received 2 doses of Sinovac. April to mid-July 2021  after delta had arrived Thailand mid-May

So, with 600 getting infected that is a efficacy rate of over 99%?

Of course that is not right, but it highlights the misleading use of figures and statistics, especially in sensationalized news reports. Medical staff are at far greater risk than most of us and they deserve every thing being done to keep them in their health and comfort zone.

For the rest of us it helps to keep figures and statistics in context.

I disagree.  Elderly people have just as much of a need to exercise as anyone.  Cardiovascular fitness is one of the best ways to maintain a high immune response.  It's lame to say this is not an important consideration for everyone, not just young and fit people.  Young and fit people are not immune to the dangers of Covid anymore than older people are immune to the benefits of exercise.

Not only lame, but dangerous, especially from someone calling himself a doctor.
