Not to mention the debt crisis in Thailand is unreal. You would be surprised at the people driving new cars that are living in poverty. -

Agree, I think it is ineveatable at this point. But hardly anything new. I think Thailand will be better off with Chinese people buying up the land here for sure. -
Thailand expects Chinese visitors during Lunar New Year festival
Gknrd replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Well I have enjoyed my stay while the tourists were at a minimum. Very enjoyable. Now, with the Chinese fixing to invade. I am off to the warm Caribbean and enjoy the crystal clear waters , food to die for, and no visa hassles... haha ???? -
Can Thailand afford to raise minimum wage to 600 baht?
Gknrd replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Doesn't matter what the elite want at this stage period. In a few years there won't be enough youngsters to push around. No one to take the jobs unless they pay a good salary. Just a matter of time now. Thailand is at 1.5 / female. Average to keep things stable is 2.1. -

Can Thailand afford to raise minimum wage to 600 baht?
Gknrd replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
They won't have a choice, the demographics in Thailand are horrible. As the working class shrinks the wages will go up. Just supply and demand economics. Same with China, their population is aging at a rate that wages have increased 6 fold in the last few years. China is terminal. So 2027 is a statement made by the party because they know it will happen anyway. Or in that general time frame. You are having re-shoring from China to Thailand. The work force will be eaten up pretty quick. It is a blue collar boom for the next 10+ years. You will see that same thing in Thailand that is happening in China now. Work force will keep shrinking and local demand will decrease, wages will go up. At that point you will see manufacturing start to head out to other places. There is not much the leaders can do about it at this point. -
True, I don't drink or go out, but I only come here for one thing for sure. The internet is your friend in Thailand and the Philippines... ???? 15 years and never been in a. bar. Hasn't slowed me down what so ever .. Go Thailand...

If you are from the US then Thailand is out for sure IMHO. I am transitioning out of Thailand now. Flights are outrageous. Won't be coming back anytime soon. Thailand is ok, But, if from the US a big pass. Unfortunately it is not looking good for Thailand in the long run. I have enjoyed my years here, but would not invest a dime here. It's not going to be pretty for the western expats in the coming years.

As a US citizen the medical tourism is out 100% for me. Dental is about the same with state of the art procedures in Mexico. Price wise cheaper after you factor in the travel by far. South America about the same as Thailand IMHO price wise. But, travel time and travel expense is where it kills Thailand and SE Asia as a whole. Last time I was in SA for work I was surprised at the Europeans that were flooding in to take advantage of the Medical (dental, face lifts). I would have thought that SE Asia would be their destination because of travel. But, not the case! Nothing against Thailand what so ever but Medical tourism is way overrated and personally at this point just an advertising tool (living in the past) for TOT.

I new an older lady that had Gout! Was given a drug and she died a couple of weeks later. I asked the daughter what the drug was and googled it. It was basically homicide IMO. Not one word of a I am sorry from the doctor. People that say come to Thailand for medical care are putting their lives on the line. This lady that died , died one of the most horrible deaths I have ever seen all because of a negligent doctor.

Biden should acknowledge Thailand’s roll in capturing Viktor Bout
Gknrd replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Yea, and when she plays the next game in the US and starts talking again. We will see her true colors. It will be back to business as usual. How she is mistreated and hates the US.- 59 replies

Private sector against Pheu Thai’s 600-baht minimum wage proposal
Gknrd replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Actually with the Thai demographics. 600 baht is coming sooner than later. And it will rise from there. It will be interesting to see if Thailand can make the transition. But, I suspect it will be in big trouble soon. -
Thailand needs 400 more psychiatrists in next 5 years
Gknrd replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Should have no problems attracting 400 of the worlds best. Especially with the great pay and incentives for foreigners.
