  1. Was back for a 6 month stay and everyone had a pot plant growing and visions of riches. Crazy.
  2. I knew a guy that worked in Japan for over 25 years illegally. No problems what so ever returning. Talked to a gal from Thailand last night I know that lives in Japan. He$$ will freeze over or when she gets old. Then a swift return to Thailand. So I can overstay my tourist visa in Thailand for years and only pay 20K baht on exit. But Thails have to pay 800K... hahaha
  3. Got to hand it to the Malay's though. They have kept the Chinese out in mass. I am kinda of interested in seeing where Thailand lands in the next few years.
  4. Nobody that has the money to travel much goes to Thailand during the dry season! Thailand is a SH about 6 moths a year. You would have to be and idiot to live there year around.
  5. Wow, main question is? Are there enough girls to handle the increase? I can see visa exempt for gals 18-30 and 6 month stays from the surrounding countries just around the corner.
  6. Looking forward to. visiting the Philippines in a couple of months. Spent 6 months in Thailand and immigration all but ruined that trip. What a total wast of time that was.. Hope the Philippines is better.
  7. Ahhh the weekly prediction.
  8. I would imagine Thailand would be the top spot for Chinese for years to come.
  9. Pay and go on. That is what the Thai's do.
  10. Yea, that is really going to do wonders for the demographics in Thailand...
  11. I went to Vietnam a few yeas ago and had no problems what so ever. Maybe they changed the rules I have no idea. I can say without a doubt Thailand is the worst of the places I have traveled to, immigration wise.. I am sure there are worst places. Afghanistan , Pakistan. Not sure. Actually I like Thailand.
  12. Then why even do the transfers? My embassy paper explicitly told me to go get the visa transfered? But good info.. Instead of going threw this I could have used my old passport to exit the country since I was on a tourist visa. And then used my new one to travel on. So no need to go threw a transfer what so ever?
  13. Thailand has got to be the worst I have ever traveled in .. I have never had so many hassles through out Mexico, South America , Malaysia, Laos.. Thailand is ridiculous with visa and immigration rules..
  14. Sounds like very poor planing and not knowing the rules in Thailand. Hahaha I had a hole in my old passport which showed it was not valid.
  15. The reason this is important I think if you are traveling and only here on a tourist visa. You need to stop and not be a traveling tourist. Also after looking over my papers I think the immigration at different places must set their own rules. If here and do not travel then it is different. Not only that but the paperwork involved was insane IMO.. Personally very inefficient. And not very well thought out.
  16. Luckily I was not to far away. But, the (transfer) was painless and took about 30 minutes of paperwork and copying once they decided to accept the last letter. Which by the way was almost identical to the one I originally had.
  17. I was on the move and not thinking it would be a problem. And I told the lady at immigration that I was getting the one month extension for a new passport. So, in hindsight it would have been better to of come here and asked. But, I had all the paperwork that came with the new passport. I think the main problem was I was traveling and was not thinking I would have to Stop traveling and not be a tourist. If I was here full time it would have been a different story I suspect. Especially if I was a regular at immigration here.
  18. Typical response from you! I did my research for a new passport and had all the paperwork available. If you are sitting behind a desk and do not ever move around then the process would be much easier. I suspect that is you. And armchair bandit that spends every waking moment thinking he is the guru of (I am a legend in my own mind). hahaha Most people have a life other than sitting on their duffs..
  19. I had a letter from the embassy , it stated that I needed to get my visa transferred. I had all the paperwork that came with the new passport. Everything was done by mail. And absolutely no mention of a letter stating it was me! So, in conclusion I would put this down to the different immigration office you go to. In the years here I have found the rules change from office to office.
  20. This might help some people traveling in Thailand I crossed into Thailand on a 2 month visa from Laos to Thailand. As hassle but doable without the usual scammers outside the Thai embassy. Went straight to Nong Khai immigration and got a one month extension. My Passport was sitting at 7 months so I decided to get a new Passport. Filled out the paperwork on the US embassy site and with in 3 weeks had a new Passport. (great service) I was in KK and went to immigration to get my visa transferred and NOPE had to go back to Nong Khai. Went back to Nong Khai and presented my old Passport and new Passport to the same lady that issued me the one month extension for the two month visa in my old passport. No problems right? Wrong. I was informed I had to go back to BKK and get a letter stating it was me and they issued the passport! I had all the paperwork that I filled out from the original passport renal and the paperwork from the US embassy when they mailed back my new passport. So, a one day visa transfer turned into a 3 week nightmare for no reason what so ever IMO. Another immigration joke in LOS's
  21. 6 months enjoying Thailand and 6 months under a HEPA filter. Nothing new here.
  22. I just left and my flight was canceled then my re-booked flight was delayed and I missed my second transfer. No problems what so ever I got on line and the airlines booked me a flight that was almost as good as my missed transfer and my canceled flight was re-booked only hours later. Not only that they told me to contact them when I returned and they would give me compensation for my inconvenience. Delta was the nicest and most personal assistance. Worth the extra money IMO.
