  1. This is just another in a line of scandals within the thai military (I use the term very loosely). Yet an eye is not blinked at how generals who are not on massive pay end up billionaires! Very strange when the top military generals in the world can't accomplish this.
  2. Yes and also some police forces don't even bother to attend just give out criminal report numbers. And, recently a mand who killed a man who broke into his home assaulted his mum and attacked him was sent to prison. Say something to upset someone on twitter or Facebook and the police attend in force. A lady who lives close to me had a bit of a breakdown and the police and ambulance were in attendance very quickly. Very recent.
  3. Do not let a member listing confuse you to how long someone has been a member. I've been using and following thai visa from the start. I'm well aware of the history as I've been coming to thailand living and working since 2002. Scuba diving instructor kow tow and teacher in bkk so well versed in Thailand. Pray tell me any office in Thailand that isn't currupt? Nothing/no crime real or imagined that Thaksin or his sister may or may not have done is nothing compared to an army/military takeover and I mean nothing!!! The people voted for Thaksin and for his sister and his sister actually called for an election when the tanks rolled in.
  4. I am so against this world cup that should never have been allowed in that country however I wish England well and hope they do bring it home as for Wales get rid of that little toad of toad Hall from your government and I will cheer use on.. lol but being Scottish I don't have to boycott because of the little dictator due to their failure!!! Come on England bring it home to Great Britain....
  5. It depends where you live in the uk. The police are right when they said "contact the council" the council has the power to have people evicted for noise crimes and bad behaviour. Where I live the local police would definatly attend but many police in the uk are so busy arresting people for saying things on twitter or Facebook that someone takes offence to.
  6. Lol! The ones with guns who run the courts really. Having been living in Thailand for the military takeover of an elected government and witnessing first hand the changes in attitude then again living in Thailand for the military takeovers of another rightfully erected government who actually did the right thing by calling an election. Yes the proof of all the current criminal corruption screams for attention but the deaf ears of Thai justice ignore. A court that can't count to 8 and throw out the general for overstay (his rules). I am an ex soldier and I am sickened by the military of Thailand because any true soldier would never lift his weapon on his own people to over throw an elected government. A now rigged system there is no hope for Thailand. Oh I just remembered the attempted gold mine heist and an international court outside Thailand has found generals guilty! Call a free election monitored and put the lady or her brother on the ballot paper and see what happens. No matter what you say the biggest crime is a military theft of a country.
  7. Wow! Everyone with half a brain can see this for what it is. Please pray tell about the poor nurse and the man in charge of the murder shootings of innocents at the temple, explain the extortionate money paid for a plot of land prior to the tanks rolling in, but don't talk about watches, don't talk about generals on quite low pay become billionaires and a lowley police officer can have dozens of top end cars, then the students arrested on a train because they dared to protest about The park!!! Oh and the jump in percentage of brown envelope rise??? The biggest crime military overthrowing an elected government. It would take a thousand page novel to list this government's crimes.
  8. Everytime I see Thailands unemployment figures I switch off as they are simply nonsense from what I've seen when I lived in Thailand. Unemployment in Thailand must technically be above 25% if you also count the nonexistent Prostitution and young adults one sees in every village who you never see working but always have booze and cigarettes........
  9. Yes your quite right but I spend enough time on Thaivisa as I want and always know when things are incorrect then those will inevitably be corrected from someone with more knowledge.
  10. Yes it is about Thailand. However when someone brings other countries in to give the "But other countries in the west do the same (in your country)" justification will then the forum which was originally set up for expats and about Thailand and seemed to change dramatically after the generals took over.
  11. And again!!! In my country the police don't raid pubs/clubs and night clubs rounding people up and drug testing everyone they also Don't ask for ID cards proof of id or passports. The above as far as I'm aware never ever happens in the UK. Glastonbury is famous for drug use never raided and this test forcing people to Pee in a bottle and test for drugs never happens in the uk unless driving under the influence and even then you have the right to refuse.
  12. However experienced you are it is expediently to clime alone and the same applies to scuba diving. Some get away with it but a lot don't and pay with their lives. I've done a bit of mountaineering in Scotland "winter/summer" and would never dream of doing it alone. Had a school teacher who had mountaineer/climed for decades and overconfidence and being alone killed him. Mountains in scotland are no where near as high even though its still very dangerous.
  13. The court! Like has been suggested it is likely the old foundation's have been used as the time frame is very unlikely to have been long enough for new foundation's and cement pouring.
  14. The article on here is a bit confusing and typically contradict the information. 150 cliff not mentioned however a steep cliff and died from being lost made my confused old brain translate as a steep hill/incline. I imagine more information outside this article is available. Cliff's are normally described as high inclines as steep and people who fall or pushed off a cliff and die are normally described as death resulted from a fall from a cliff.
  15. Very strange statement. I am in my country as I left Thailand in 2019 after staying in Thailand for 8 years and lived and worked in Thailand from 2002 on and off for periods upto 2 years (worked as a scuba diving instructor and a teacher). Why would the police not take your motorbike from the bar? Very strange statement. Police would definatly take the bike as evidence and the bar owner charged with theft and possible more. You can not take someone's property over a debt unless the court has approved it. Good or bad the uk has laws. Kicking the <deleted> into someone who owes you a few pounds is not acceptable in civilised countries taking someone's property is also not acceptable under any circumstances in the uk. As for a member of the public refusing to hand over stolen goods to the police lol I don't think they would be asked.
  16. Yes I am and what I said is 100% true. A young guy 17 at the time just jailed for 4 years and 6 months with the last year suspended for defending himself and family after an older and much bigger guy who smashed into his home and attacked him. Stabbed him once and killed him (the young boys mother was injured in the assault). Serious consequences in the uk.
  17. I'm my country it is simple "the police are called" at no point would a bar/pub beat up someone and steal their motorbike! I would say that is the same for any civilised country. Also the police would come down hard on the pub, if any evidence came to light about the severe assault and that 7 or more people were involved then attempted murder charge may also be raised. As for the bike, well the owner would be up in court for theft (see what happens in a civilised country with "but they owe me money" as a defence!!!
  18. I think you have that wrong about ev second hand maret so did a bit of digging "Nissan Leaf" new £34,000ish a 5 year old with max range 124 miles which is far less in reality 80~100 (maybe even less) depending on weather/temperature price mint condition (under 30,000 miles) £10,000 ~£11,000. Tesla seem to hold their price better.
  19. I not sure if I'm upto date on the latest technologies. However, I'm going by recent publications and interviews given by top secondhand dealer networks in the uk. Quite recently manufacturers have started coming out with more accurate information but the dealers are still lying to customers. People in the uk have and are falling for the same trap as diesel car owners. The government said that diesel cars were better for the environment then flipped increasing tax on diesel vehicles. The same will and is starting to happen with EV's. Unless you have a roof full of solar panels, turbines etc then the financial benifit is disappearing fast infact its almost gone in the uk. My point was they are not good for the environment and definatly not better than a modern mechanical vehicle and will never ever last as long. People have the right to buy what they want and every decision for me at least is pro's and con's and one of those is my principles which also is stopping me from watching any of the World Cup games.
  20. First they are not useable after a few years as they depreciate at a rate which makes them unusable. Only charge at 80% don't go below 20% and store at 50% so your usable milage is not say 300 but nearer 180 miles and that range reduces by several percent year on year. Major second hand dealers do not touch them.
  21. Yes I know and should be banned as well. However there is a big difference in a phone battery and a battery that powers a Blood EV. These monstrosities which are not echo are causing the demands which are driving the abuse and murder. Batteries depreciate from day one and 7~8 years life is what main manufactures give (not the sales pitch). With don't do giving vastly reduced range to that of stated range. Don't charge more than 80% don't go below 20% charge and store at 50% charge. Try selling a 6 year old ev. The big second hand dealers in the uk won't touch the second had blood car market. 30 years, I hope you have a nice big diesel to tow it around. 1 x ev battery equals nearly 2,000 phone batteries.
  22. Blood diamonds is a term I did not make up. Diamonds that are not conflict-free are known as blood diamonds, which means they are illegally sold. So No you can't use Blood diamonds to buy a Blood EV. I suppose if your OK having Blood diamonds you'll be OK having a blood ev.
  23. I remember years ago there was a big thing about Blood Dimonds I now call EV's Blood Cars! I personally feel people who own EV's are either thick or just evil but hay ho they can give it "look at me I'm saving the world" when infact its the opposit. Just one question "how many children died digging for those minerals in your battery? Yes a battery with only a 5 to 10 year life but of course just throw it away and buy a new one.... I'll keep runing my 12 year old Honda and my now 5 year old Rav 4 (yes diesel)....
