  1. I've never been in a pub in the uk or infact any shop that turns down cash! My fishmonger still hasn't got a card reader and only takes cash. What I have noticed is when I use cash I spend less! I have had a situation buying a car from a dealer when they would only except £6,000 cash and the rest had to be bank transfer.... I've also had situations where paying thousands in cash at a time into my account without a question but taking out £1,000 was like the Spanish Inquisition!!!. I believe we should go back to Gold backed currency. This banking scam of for every pound they have they can lend you 10..... has to end!!!
  2. All poaching? I hope you mean poaching involving financial gain/endangered animals? I admit as a kid I did a little poaching: rabbits, pheasants and fish and all consumed and not sold. Some people are very poor and when the rich own everything.
  3. I drove in Thailand from 2005 ~ 2019, in that time I had 2 people drive into me: 1st stopped at a red light second was a guy so drunk he could hardly stand (police did nothing about him being drunk). Both admitted responsibility. The problem and arguments I had was with insurance company wanting to do things on the cheap also seem to have a 50/50 agreement which I refused and demanded their insurance pay full.
  4. In Thailand its the vehicle that's insured and every time you buy a new vehicle you start your insurance again so no incentive to drive carefully...
  5. Why is Thailand so far behind the curve? Serious questions are being asked even with the pro vacs lobby in media and governments. There is so much information on the .gov website in the UK (it totally contradicts what is being said) that would seriously question anyone who contemplates vax a child, in some countries and states in the US it is banned. Please research then decide but research and you may be horrified (.gov.uk is a great source of information).
  6. I did a little research about e cigarettes and was shocked at so called doctors who peddle the so called serious dangers. Compare cigarettes and e cigarettes then you see one that is so dangerous and a killer and the other which is in comparison very safe alternative. Yes some abuse e cigarettes and the illegal vaps can be dangerous as made in some back kitchen and mixed with god knows what. I tried vap but didn't take to it but I did enjoy it.
  7. So not even 1 gram of drugs (wouldn't that be personal use so not exactly crime of the century), an old hand gun and some gunpowder (was it an antique black powder weapon), over stay just stupid but I've known a few and they weren't hardened criminals just ill sort that tomorrow guy's and the mess we'll they had just been raided. Personally I'm not so sure who are worse these guys who are stupid and do stupid things or the nasty venomous posters on here full of hate.
  8. Yes. A guy I new some years ago was walking his dogs along a canal, a Swan came at him and his dog (an Akita) which was on a lead defended him dispatching the swan. Someone saw it and reported him. Here is where it became interesting. He went to court, was taken to a small room, no one else allowed in and fined £2,000. No report in the local papers!!!
  9. I think the Lab conspiracy has now become the accepted fact. It is also accepted that the origin of the parent virus was from bats but some tinkering occured before it -----'zzzxxxxcggfdssfgy@!
  10. I have found that Thai's in general especially girls/women have such respect for their parent's. I think it is a very commendable trait. My wife who is Thai is exceptionally good at saving and dosent like spending money on herself.
  11. America was famous for travelling "Snake Oil" sales men in the wild West that used to say the same!!! My wife had covid and had all the jags (Got covid a few weeks after her last jag) she got it and it was like a bad cold however she also coincidentally nice gift of side effects mysteriously or coincidentally after the jags which lasted months which forced her to stop working. I obviously got covid from her and it was the mildest cold I've had.
  12. Why always the "Far Right" used to insult? What was said is very true. Ideologies promoted in universities is quite sickening. When scientific fact gets you persecuted and kicked out and when students unions put on one sided political propaganda and tell students how to double and treble vote (this practice being illegal).
  13. I did read once about Americans being allowed to own land for a house however I also read that at that point in time no american had managed to buy land. Try going to a land office with your passport in hand and ask "I want to buy land for a house" and you will be told with a smile " No! You Farang". I believe as of now less than the fingers on my hand own land in Thailand. You can get a "Yellow Property Book" Thais get their Blue-black book.
  14. I would disagree with those figures in real life. What my experience is as a family of 4 living in the uk we are far better off. We shopped in Tops, call me old fashion but seeing flies walking all over food at a market puts me off. Moving back to the UK I saw how how much fresher the food was. No more green worms and brown spots on cauliflower let alone the poisonous chemicals on grown produce. Sea food is far nicer and I even eat fish again (I found fish in Thailand had a paper taste but maybe that was just me). The things I miss about Thailand are my Thai friends and western friends "good people", the weather and our weekends at Krabi along with group trips to the beautiful hidden beaches of Trang, oh and my motorbikes and of course the heat which helps old bones. If I were to ask my children and wife if they wanted to go back to Thailand the answer is No!
  15. Thailand is no longer cheap! When we were thinking of leaving in 2019 I started comparing prices from where we shopped and tesco in the uk and I found uk a lot cheaper. Looked at fuel cheaper in Thailand but in the uk I would not own a big 3lt suv and drive less miles the only thing that was less "electric". Oh clothes that used to be so cheap in Thailand are now far, far cheaper in the uk even vehicles are far more expensive even when made in Thailand then exported to the UK. These profits are swallowed by the rich in Thailand and do not see the poor benefiting with uk style wages...
  16. They all get their money from the same pot and the lines between agencies is very grey. My personal experience was 6 vehicles of immigration and police turn up at my house at 07:30am checking I lived there. Yes both police and immigration police. I also remember the old boy having a coffee when dozens of police arrested him for overstay (I'm not sure if swat was involved). This harden criminal had lost his wife and his mental state confused.... How often do we read about military and police along with immigration police raid a house.....
  17. Not really as the money comes from the same pot. The lines between agencies in Thailand are very grey and one would see that if they got a visit from immigration with a mix of both imigration vehicles and police vehicles. You would also see this when they go and arrest some poor old guy sitting having a coffee with dozens of police and swat maybe even army.
  18. But they have magic BMW's with laptops to seek and destroy those dirty, dangerous foreigners on overstay!!! Good use of manpower and police resource heaven forbid using them to patrol the roads.
  19. In my opinion All Dog Owners should require to have a licence and pass a knowledge of breed before owning a dog they should also require insurance and the dog to be micro chipped with all those details. Any dog found unclipped put to sleep. Any lack key dog found pounded then if fine not paid or re homed then put to sleep. I love dogs and even brought my last dog with me to Thailand's. In her 14 years she never ever got out alone, she was always on a lead and obviously she was chipped. She was a big dog an Akita, well trained and well socialised.
  20. This nonsense would be ended tomorrow if every other country decided to reciprocate thai Thai Land and business laws as the elite would make sure of that. Imagine certain people getting notices to sell their property in places like Germany, UK and USA with a second notice to give 51% of their business holdings to a national.
  21. Not anymore as there are new generals waiting inline for their next promotion in the trough......
