  1. I think the uk isn't perfect. Legal immigrants are treated like human beings and set paths are available for all plus you are not required to report or have 6 vehicles full of police and immigration police turn up at your door at 8am to check you live at the same address you have lived at for 8 years, have a property book for. There is a big however, I'm very envious of thailand on how they deal with illegal immigrants and have been known to just take someone to the border and send them on their way.
  2. Maybe but I've never heard of it. The storage would prohibit it as you can't exactly park it in the shop. I just had a look and pawning vehicles I've just found are for luxury/sports/prestigious vehicles not bobs pickup. You can however refinance.
  3. Only if they have the V5C document and in the uk anyone can check if there is finance on a vehicle. It is not straightforward and something that is very uncommon in the uk, infact I've never heard of it!
  4. So stupid. What was she expecting? Young woman borrowing money and not paying it back. She is now in big trouble.
  5. I thought there were sanctions or is that just the "P's" mates? Being an old ex soldier I think the young men are quite right getting out of dodge. It would be different if someone was invading Russia then they would be cowards and no more than scum.
  6. Only have her word for that! Maybe it was just as likely he said of you go out don't come back! Sounds more realistic. Three men turn up with knives then it's murder with intent.
  7. All depends how much he paid for it is the best indicator of the truth. Plus buying it at a market where no doubt police and government officials visit......
  8. It was a pain for me and it is like being treated like someone on parole. I personally hated it. The reasons there are foreign criminals here is endemic corruption.
  9. I found it a pain and after 8 years at the house I built and with a yellow property book in my name having to report like someone on parole never mind the annual duplication of paper work with stupid photos of the family standing outside the house and sitting on the bed. Compare that to the UK.... chalk and cheese.
  10. Uk if it has any outstanding finance on it. Refinancing but stricked financial regulation apply. If a bank lends you money to buy a car/anything and you are not in a financial position to pay back the loan then its the banks fault however if you lie on the application that's fraud and big trouble......
  11. Would show to much!
  12. This is just another in a line of scandals within the thai military (I use the term very loosely). Yet an eye is not blinked at how generals who are not on massive pay end up billionaires! Very strange when the top military generals in the world can't accomplish this.
  13. Yes and also some police forces don't even bother to attend just give out criminal report numbers. And, recently a mand who killed a man who broke into his home assaulted his mum and attacked him was sent to prison. Say something to upset someone on twitter or Facebook and the police attend in force. A lady who lives close to me had a bit of a breakdown and the police and ambulance were in attendance very quickly. Very recent.
  14. Do not let a member listing confuse you to how long someone has been a member. I've been using and following thai visa from the start. I'm well aware of the history as I've been coming to thailand living and working since 2002. Scuba diving instructor kow tow and teacher in bkk so well versed in Thailand. Pray tell me any office in Thailand that isn't currupt? Nothing/no crime real or imagined that Thaksin or his sister may or may not have done is nothing compared to an army/military takeover and I mean nothing!!! The people voted for Thaksin and for his sister and his sister actually called for an election when the tanks rolled in.
  15. I am so against this world cup that should never have been allowed in that country however I wish England well and hope they do bring it home as for Wales get rid of that little toad of toad Hall from your government and I will cheer use on.. lol but being Scottish I don't have to boycott because of the little dictator due to their failure!!! Come on England bring it home to Great Britain....
  16. It depends where you live in the uk. The police are right when they said "contact the council" the council has the power to have people evicted for noise crimes and bad behaviour. Where I live the local police would definatly attend but many police in the uk are so busy arresting people for saying things on twitter or Facebook that someone takes offence to.
  17. Lol! The ones with guns who run the courts really. Having been living in Thailand for the military takeover of an elected government and witnessing first hand the changes in attitude then again living in Thailand for the military takeovers of another rightfully erected government who actually did the right thing by calling an election. Yes the proof of all the current criminal corruption screams for attention but the deaf ears of Thai justice ignore. A court that can't count to 8 and throw out the general for overstay (his rules). I am an ex soldier and I am sickened by the military of Thailand because any true soldier would never lift his weapon on his own people to over throw an elected government. A now rigged system there is no hope for Thailand. Oh I just remembered the attempted gold mine heist and an international court outside Thailand has found generals guilty! Call a free election monitored and put the lady or her brother on the ballot paper and see what happens. No matter what you say the biggest crime is a military theft of a country.
  18. Wow! Everyone with half a brain can see this for what it is. Please pray tell about the poor nurse and the man in charge of the murder shootings of innocents at the temple, explain the extortionate money paid for a plot of land prior to the tanks rolling in, but don't talk about watches, don't talk about generals on quite low pay become billionaires and a lowley police officer can have dozens of top end cars, then the students arrested on a train because they dared to protest about The park!!! Oh and the jump in percentage of brown envelope rise??? The biggest crime military overthrowing an elected government. It would take a thousand page novel to list this government's crimes.
  19. Everytime I see Thailands unemployment figures I switch off as they are simply nonsense from what I've seen when I lived in Thailand. Unemployment in Thailand must technically be above 25% if you also count the nonexistent Prostitution and young adults one sees in every village who you never see working but always have booze and cigarettes........
  20. Yes your quite right but I spend enough time on Thaivisa as I want and always know when things are incorrect then those will inevitably be corrected from someone with more knowledge.
  21. Yes it is about Thailand. However when someone brings other countries in to give the "But other countries in the west do the same (in your country)" justification will then the forum which was originally set up for expats and about Thailand and seemed to change dramatically after the generals took over.
  22. And again!!! In my country the police don't raid pubs/clubs and night clubs rounding people up and drug testing everyone they also Don't ask for ID cards proof of id or passports. The above as far as I'm aware never ever happens in the UK. Glastonbury is famous for drug use never raided and this test forcing people to Pee in a bottle and test for drugs never happens in the uk unless driving under the influence and even then you have the right to refuse.
  23. However experienced you are it is expediently to clime alone and the same applies to scuba diving. Some get away with it but a lot don't and pay with their lives. I've done a bit of mountaineering in Scotland "winter/summer" and would never dream of doing it alone. Had a school teacher who had mountaineer/climed for decades and overconfidence and being alone killed him. Mountains in scotland are no where near as high even though its still very dangerous.
  24. The court! Like has been suggested it is likely the old foundation's have been used as the time frame is very unlikely to have been long enough for new foundation's and cement pouring.
