He is not getting £1K/month pension, He only gets the state pension which is less that £600 per month due to the contributions he made during his working life. Actually, you could build a simple 2/3 bed house for about 750,000 Baht. In rural areas. Well below 47,000 GBP. Though I'm not sure how simple a 6 bed house you could get for 47,000 GBP which is about 2.2 million baht at current exchange rates.
