  1. maybe putting criminals in a monastery and reading buddhist texts and meditating is a better way to reform people than prisons.
  2. In general, for this or any medical issue ... I wonder if it's possible to get a diagnosis from a doctor in your home country. ie find a doctor with an online presence (facebook, etc ...), contact them directly and ask them if they can do a consultation on Zoom or Skype ... in the future, this may be more common ... so I'm thinking you don't need to confine yourself to doctors in your local area. just a thought.
  3. I'm on team "intentionally created". But that still doesn't answer how or why or what the purpose of any of it is or where anything is leading. And as I argued with my film analysis of Prometheus, I think we're not meant to know. So that's why neither science nor religion has the answers. Not yet, anyway.
  4. then god must be really really really old.
  5. Good. Don't ever ever ever do that! Robots won't mess with you ... UNLESS you mess with them first. Isaac Asimov's First Law goes out the window once you start messing with the robot. Don't put words in the robot's mouth! Isaac Asimov's "Three Laws of Robotics" A robot may not injure a human being or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm. A robot must obey orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.
  6. does the AI on youtube know that i'm posting in this thread? oddly, a video about 15 minute cities popped in my feed. they're not banning road trips ...
  7. ps. its your opinion that rattling off endless references from books you read makes you the sharpest tool in the shed. and some of these authors, i'd rather blow my brains out than read their drivel.
  8. either you made up the response OR the chatbot will give a similar response about any poster because it is programmed to say positive things about people.
  9. well, i was just being silly. but not even sure the comment can be completely dismissed as silly nonsense. the story of noah's ark in your bible is about god obliterating everyone, isn't it? the answer to your question is sometimes i'm not that smart. and also i don't have as much time and energy to devote to this thread as you do.
  10. when rodney dangerfield did stand-up and people didnt laugh at his jokes he would ask "am i too deep for this section?". you may need to borrow this line from dangerfield once in a while.
  11. never heard of him. this is the ONLY "Flash" worth mentioning. and dont tell me comic books aren't literature.
  12. no interest. again, intellectual snobs need to stop forcing shakespeare on kids.
  13. i don't like the fact that pretentious folks in power tried to ram shakespeare down my throat in high school. we felt like we were being tortured with that old incomprehensible english. it's your opinion that we need to be reading any of these so-called classics.
  14. who are the wannabe gurus on here?
  15. is that ever possible? i think these types of arrangements always end up affecting the marriage.
  16. but should we be obsessed with sexual organs or the person the sexual organs are attached to? and why do we need statues? all cults are bad. this one is no exception.
  17. well ... he's the first person to attempt combining comedy with travel blogs. so it's innovative.
  18. yes, plausible theory. god could be plotting to obliterate us all. possibly waiting for specific planetary alignments.
  19. you're richer than a lot of folks. wasnt there a mass exodus from new york after covid? people working online moving to lower rent areas?
  20. Manufacturing might be one of the hardest ways to make money. If you pull it off, you might make a ton of money. But the level of complexity involved and start-up costs seems monumental. Not to mention you will probably need a Thai partner owning 51% of the business. If I were you, I would consider: 1 - Is the product already being manufactured in China? Maybe you could just be a middle man and export it. Even dealing with Chinese manufacturers may be a major headache. 2 - Is there a completely different way to make money than dealing with the hassles of manufacturing?
  21. these numbers are meaningless as some people are multi-millionaires. i know someone who rented a vacation home in florida for 16K per month for the winter. some people have so much money they don't know how to spend it. if you're rich, just the interest in the bank is bringing in 50K per year.
  22. off topic, but don't want to start a new thread. but to all "climate deniers" ... water wars are beginning. farmers in france are fighting over water. there will be water shortages in the future and water rationing.
  23. just went on youtube. an elephant killed a lion because the lion had killed it's baby. animals, like humans, do get revenge. but most killing is based on survival. animals attacking each other in the wild is evidence that the world can be a sick place, if you ask me.
