  1. you're an expert on every corner of thailand. you missed your calling working for lonely planet.
  2. what are the motivations for people joining these groups? according to conspiracy guys, many high-level politicians are high-level (33rd degree) freemasons. the only direct experience i've had is a filipino guy back home who joined. i think his motivation was to have power over other people. that didn't seem to work out too well for him as he was trapped in a lowly job.
  3. Maybe it's because you don't know how to read? He said he hated Bangkok. Which part of that don't you get?
  4. yeah, good question. flowers are good. hurricanes and earthquakes are bad maybe?
  5. so god is heartless? lol
  6. not sure what you're talking about. the whole planet is designed around free will. that's why people have asked in this thread "how can god exist if there is so much evil in the world"? and the answer is because human beings have been given free will to act out in negative ways if they choose.
  7. no its not. the psyche is another form of karma. some people lack the capacity to perceive anything in a positive light and lack the ability to enjoy life. 2 farangs go to thailand. one enjoys their life, another complains about everything, perceives all thais to be racist ...
  8. so you're miserable? did you spend most of your waking life making everyone else around you miserable? i met a lot of people like that.
  9. Location: Waiting for you in the prison showers Congratulations bogs. You have the most repulsive avater ever in the history of the internet.
  10. harassed. lol. he looks like he's enjoying himself.
  11. that's too radical for most people. people want keto versions of their favorite dishes. for me, it's too much hassle to hunt down keto restaurants. so bbq pork does the trick for me.
  12. what's he whistleblowing about exactly? that cannabis makes you goofy?
  13. this thread made me think of this film. haven't seen it yet. it's by a Thai director. https://mubi.com/films/uncle-boonmee-who-can-recall-his-past-lives Dying from kidney failure, Uncle Boonmee spends his final days in the countryside, where he has visions of his past lives and is visited by different spirits and loved ones.
  14. parents are partly responsible. rich parents spoiling their kids, giving them a fast car at age 20. kids end up doing stupid <deleted>.
  15. so now there's a thread about fortune-tellers. i don't feel like debating with folks there. some are hucksters, but not all. ability to glimpse future events shows there are unseen forces manipulating things and fate is at play.
  16. I'm not a user. Looked it up. It's Tommy Chong. He claims it's "medicine for the brain". And selling his products at Kroger's and making a lot of money.
  17. planning is over-rated. one of those guys from cheech and chong spends his old age giving lectures about the amazing benefits of marijuana.
  18. i thought about it a bit more and came to the following conclusion. negative circumstances / bad luck / setbacks / misfortune are not necessarily bad karma. they could also be 'soul growth' ie tough lessons to make you grow wiser, stronger ... the entire jesus myth involves him taking a beating ... then he comes out the other side wiser, more enlightened. and a personal anecdote. i should have died in a car accident. it's literally a miracle i survived. you never know. maybe you too have been thwarted from a very negative outcome without your knowing. like the people who cancelled going on the Titanic just before departure.
  19. yeah well, i was trying to make a point. but all this debating is exhausting! i'm outta here. eat whatever you want. i don't care what anybody eats.
  20. I had a quick look at one of those 13 links. They start off by saying red meat causes cancer and then mix in processed meat into the conversation. Which are completely different foods. Also ... most Americans do get cancer, but maybe because they drink 6 beers and eat potato chips with their steaks. The article doesn't mention that. It's crappy science.
  21. no he doesn't know. and yes he is totally naive.
  22. me too. first entire part of my life was clearing out negative karma. hang in there. stop doing stupid things!
  23. i believe it works both ways and carries across multiple lifetimes. people doing negative things don't normally see the consequences. that's why they just keep doing it.
  24. native indians believe they "return to the stars" when they die?
  25. i don't believe things happen randomly. not major things anyway. but it's not always possible to connect the dots. also, if karma carries over into multiple lifetimes if you believe in reincarnation, then it becomes even harder to connect the dots. but if you look back at your life, you should be able to connect some dots. think back to some things you shouldn't have done and the negative consequences that followed.
