  1. When you say equities I guess you mean ETFs, Is so which ones? How do you decide which bonds to allocate capital to? What money market funds and "other things"? In regards to why the S+P is a good place to park money in 2024 Id look at the returns over the last few years. S+P 500 % Returns 2016 - 12 2017 - 21.8 2018 - (-4.3) 2019 - 31.5 2020 - 18.4 2021 - 28.7 2022 - (-18.1) 2023 - 26.3 These figures are extremely unusual returns to the upside historically. With such large outperformance I expect the next few years to be a stock pickers market. Almost all fund mangers are holders of the Mag 7, where is the buying pressure going to come from? There has been massive lack of capital invested in companies/sectors that are vital to peoples day to day living. I.e Energy/Resources I think we will see that revert over the 2020s. This was an interesting post on twitter - NVIDIA now worth more than: Exxon Chevron Shell PLC TotalEnergies BP PLC Suncor Energy Marathon China Petroleum Chemical Corp Valero Energy PetroChina Cenovus Energy Imperial Oil Canadian Natural Resources Combined. If we lost Nvidia tomorrow or all the above which would cause more pain on a global scale?
  2. This dealer that I went to yesterday never mentioned a work permit. It was luck on my part. I was doing nothing and found another dealer close-by that I hadn't been to and I said let's go for a drive. They had 4 ADVs, each colour sitting there when I walked in and I thought to myself this is too good to be true. It was, they were all allocated, a small dealership with very few bikes but they knew about residency cert. They actually showed me the cert that a Russian buyer had given them to complete a purchase and said I needed to get this from immigration. For anybody having the same hassles I will put a google maps locator to the dealer. Not only that they were equal to the cheapest price I have found in any other garage I checked. https://g.co/kgs/DuT99zV
  3. The same document are require either way so why not do it right the first time?
  4. I've seen a couple of ADV 350s in dealerships. Too big for my girl to use. They are nice though. I dont see too many ADV 160s on the road. Compared to Clicks and PCX there are way less ADVs driving on the roads. Clicks coming out the Wazoo at every dealer. I think they look ok but I want something a bit better for going on longer trips I think the ADV will provide that.
  5. Luckily the dealer I ended up going to is only a 5 minute drive.
  6. I dont know what the issue is with ADV 160 supply? I must have rang 10 dealers and only one had any in stock and I want a black one so I didn't want what they had. There was 4 in the garage I just went to today but they were all ordered waiting for pickup. I am upgrading from another bike so I can wait until it gets here. Im hoping max one month but ideally 2 weeks. How are you finding the bike and what way does it work from a break in and ongoing servicing POV?
  7. Yes can get in Patong. 200b I can stomach. I guess the labour to take the plates on and off!! Do I need to pay for the permanent plate then aswell for another sting? They said there is no more charges in the dealership. I find everything is infinitely easier when you have a Thai with you when your doing all sorts of things like this. I think its a case of its just too hard when they are trying to converse in a non native language and CBF
  8. I think its actually only for motorcycle not for car based on the picture of the bike on the back
  9. I've put a deposit down. 200 extra to get the red plates so I went with that. They cant give any guidance when the bike will be here. They said it could take up to a month or maybe even a bit longer. They said the last one that was ordered only took a week for delivery. I would have gotten a residency cert for when I got my drivers license. Not sure if I still have that somewhere or whether they took that at the time
  10. Ive heard this and asked this to a few different dealers they said either is ok. That was over the phone see if that's the case in reality.
  11. Patong immigration anytime ive been in there was the same older guy who is very efficient and doesn't seem to make things too difficult. I only been to Phuket town for my drivers license and that was a bit of a PITA
  12. No im only back a week. I'll bring my girl with me and should be able to talk them around. This is all new to me, I just expected they would come with red plates. If it comes with no plates I can still drive it out of there and if I get stopped (which is likely) I just say I just bought it and need to register it? I wouldn't mind choosing my own plate, whats the restriction in regards to that? The bike has to be ordered. I was told it will take anywhere from 2 weeks to a month. The residency cert is valid for only 30 days someone mentioned so I can see that catching me out but we shall see. I want to order the bike now and will get registration in the next 10 days, I resume that it will be ok to hand over all the paperwork at that point and not when I put the order/deposit down.
  13. A new age European. Millions of them now and alot of them having no interest in fitting in.
  14. Any dealer I talk to ask for a work permit. Most foreigners here are not on work permits I dont get it. Will they forget about asking for the work permit when I bring them the residency cert from immigration? Documents needed for residency cert - 1. passport 2. 2 passport pictures 3. Do I need a lease agreement or will a copy of the TM30 from landlord do the trick?
  15. Falang tax you mean a higher price for the bike or some other rort?
  16. Will I end up at the dealers with all of these and be told I can’t buy a bike? I guess I better confirm where I will buy it and make sure we are on the same page documents wise
  17. Im in Phuket. Australian Passport. Elite visa Will they not accept drivers license as proof of address?
  18. Is it enough to have a driving license to buy a new bike or what documents are needed? If buying cash?
  19. From what I can see, this LocknLock is nothing more than a pressure cooker with different buttons that just do the same thing. It doesn’t matter what button you press you can only cook by pressure cooking. Garden path it is
  20. Whats the dark side of Pattaya? One thing that turns me off Pattaya is that it attracts the dregs of society. Both locals and foreigners. No doubt there are lots of good people too You get that here in Phuket too but to a lesser extent especially if you’re not spending too much time in Patong.
  21. It does seem to tick a lot of boxes. It’s not an area I’ve spent much time. I think it’s probably one of the cheapest places in the country to live if your budget constrained. Even if you’re not budget constrained it just means your $ goes further. I’ll have to look into the EEC areas suggested by another posted that sounds interesting
  22. I’ve not been to Chiang Mai for over 10 years. I really liked it when I was there. Rented a bike and drove the Mae Hong Son loop with a friend. Unless all the things I read and see on YouTube in regards to the pollution are fake it’s not somewhere I could live. Breathing that toxic any in for what, 4 months every year, doesnt sound in any way enticing to me. I think its not just Chiang Mai it seems to be the whole north of the country that’s affected by this?
