  1. It seems For the bulk of foreigners who build in Thailand its due to them building where they have gotten land from their wife/wives family. So its not really a decision you made of where you want to build in Thailand its more a case of your building there because you have the land. It will save you to not have to buy the land and you can put more money into the actual house itself. It makes sense, in a way. For me Ive not travelled extensively throughout Thailands lesser known places. I've been to all the major places that most people know of but Im still unsure where I would like to call home. What locations would you consider being in the countryside but also being close to having all western/big city conveniences? For example I would consider Koh Chang being in the countryside but it lacks any decent medical facilities. I don't have much exposure to the tier 2 cities but for me the likes of Buriram is fine for a short visit but living there has alot of drawbacks. Big lack of restaurants/cafes for a westerner. Not much entertainment options. Not many younger middle aged expats 30-45 yrs, it seems to be mostly of age retirees with a few school teachers thrown in. A days drive or a flight away from all of the above. Any recommendations?
  2. Agreed. See if ive been led down the garden path over the next couple of weeks and need to go shopping again IMG_7262.HEIC
  3. Ive never imported anything here. Is there any issues getting deliveries for international products? Thought I read something about ridiculous taxes for imports that people get surprised with
  4. https://www.homepro.co.th/p/1241377 With the ninja I used pressure cook for 80% and then the last 20% was a tender crisp function to get a bit of a crust on the outside of my roast beef. Looking at the settings on the one you have how would you go about doing this on yours? 6L seems a bit small for a 2kg roast but I would sacrafice the size if it does a good job given the price.
  5. The ninja was great cooking up a big chunk of meat. You could do 80% in the pressure cooker and then finish it using the “Tendercrisp” function to five it a nice crust on the outside. You think the instant pot could do this too?
  6. I’ve using a ninja (there are different models) for three weeks over the Xmas at my sisters place. Easiest cooking device I’ve ever used and I’m not a good cook and the food turned out great.
  7. I’m looking to buy a multi cooker. I want to buy a Ninja brand but as far as I can see they don’t sell them in Thailand. Something similar to this https://www.ninjakitchen.com/products/ninja-foodi-14-in-1-8-qt.-smart-xl-pressure-cooker-steam-fryer-with-smartlid-zidOL701 Anybody know of alternatives available in Thailand? If I imported one from overseas what do I need to be aware of? It’s a big item I’m not sure it would make sense to import one
  8. I’m having similar issue as the OP but I only have two pin plugs. Aren’t all these fridges double insulated anyway? I would have to imagine the bulk of these earth cables never get any attention on installation.
  9. I dont read all the threads on here. Doesn't seem Dumb for a business to be boosting FCF by $250-300m a year which is directly related to EV ownership. If costs/maintenance/depreciation were as low as people proclaimed then they wouldn't be flogging them off like this. I do think they make sense for some people though.
  10. Has there being an uptick the last couple of years of young thugs across the country like this? I dont remember reading about it much in the past
  11. Hmmmm Detroit | Hertz plans to sell a third of its US electric vehicle fleet and reinvest in petrol-powered cars due to weak demand and high repair costs for its battery-powered options. The sales of 20,000 EVs began last month and will continue over the course of this year, the rental giant said on Thursday US time in a regulatory filing. Hertz will record a non-cash charge in its fourth-quarter results of about $US245 million ($366 million) related to incremental net depreciation expense. “The elevated costs associated with EVs persisted,” Hertz chief executive officer Stephen Scherr said in an interview. “Efforts to wrestle it down proved to be more challenging.” Bloomberg Intelligence senior credit analyst Jody Lurie said: “Hertz recorded elevated costs from its EV fleet in 2H23 [the second half of 2023]. Management said the reversal could boost free cash flow by $US250-300 million in 2024-25 and improve corporate Ebitda [earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation], but we see the reshuffling as material growing pains.”
  12. Have we still not moved past the notion that the Thai banks are morphing the Thai tax department?
  13. How can any individual in this tax year be liable to any new rules when there is so much ambiguity? They can’t seems like the only possible answer.
  14. There is at least half a dozen interviews with Thai tax specialists on YouTube and not one have said they know exactly what these rules mean.
  15. Im shocked to see Phuket so far down that list, it's the worst driving I've seen anywhere in Thailand. Not a week goes by where I dont come across at least one accident on the road, often more. When you consider the population of Chiang Mai compared to Bangkok and Phuket I really have to question the figures.
  16. It's not up to the banks to charge income Taxes anyway that's the tax office/governments job. The only taxes I know of that banks charge is withholding taxes for non residents who have interest bearing accounts.
  17. I've read nothing but bad things from MG owners based on after care and parts being an abolsute disaster in Thailand. Hard to go **wrong** with any of the Japanese makers. Toyota Honda Mazda Nissan Mitsubishi Have owned them all in the past (cars not SUVs) , bought all second hand and if you buy one that has been looked after it will never let you down. Never had any issues with any BMW I've owned either despite reports to the contrary. If you buy a car that has been looked after, it will look after you.
  18. It won't go ahead. If it continues to be pushed it will be dragged through the courts for years by rich folk. Im treating it as a nothing burger because qualified Thai tax advisors don't even know whats happening.
  19. I mean legit pasta that made you go Holy <deleted> this is a different level. The only time that's happened to me in Thailand was in Bangkok in a place called Peppe Italian.
  20. In Phuket, maybe all over thailand they have this dessert place called Crepe-a-day. The kitkat/Nutella ice cream one is quality for a sugar hit. About 150 baht.
