  1. Watch the video. The speed that they were hit they could have been wearing five helmets and the outcome was always going to be the same. It's shocking that this is getting brushed under the carpet.
  2. Are there any business owners of these types of businesses? Do you have a partner? What are the things that need to be considered when thinking about a partnership with another foreigner in Thailand for a long term lease on a property?
  3. I once bought a pair of underwear. They were too small. I bought a bigger size and they fit. I was shocked.
  4. Ive smoked cigarettes for 20 years, im still alive so they must be ok.
  5. What happened to the cars, penthouses and roids?
  6. I agree with the Buses, they are very old, badly maintained and must be equivalent to taking 1000s of newer cars off the road from an emissions perspective. I think this is low hanging fruit that should be addressed. It wasn't the pollution from the vehicles that sent me over the edge though it was when the burning season started and the sky had a constant thick layer of smog when looking out the condo window for months that I thought this isn't the place for me long term and moved.
  7. As of now there is no new rules. No proper disclosure has been made to make any informative decision regarding a tax change. https://www.thaiexaminer.com/thai-news-foreigners/2023/11/04/tax-change-for-expats-living-in-thailand/ To answer the OP question yes a foreigner can get a TAX ID, I have one but have not done any tax returns.
  8. Whats the Thai immigrations obsession with being 50 years old to get a visa
  9. Most large scale ventures involved in the "Green transition" today are not viable with the current interest rates (which are still low historically) and are asking for more government handouts to survive
  10. I got prices of various bikes a month ago in Phuket town. Would be interested to hear what others paid or known prices. If there is much of a difference on location/haggling. To me it didn't seem like the prices were negotiable when I asked for the business card at one of the dealers they just said go to any Honda shop all the prices are the same as opposed to me wanting them to come back and buy it from their dealership. Am I correct in saying the prices trend down as the year progresses and then jumps back up in Jan for the new years plate? Honda ADV/PCX - 103,500 X-MAX 350 - 198k N-MAX 155 ABS both - 101k Aerox - 76.5k Aerox ABS front - 87.5k Click 160 - 67k
  11. Yes, the same as far as I know and this was the reason I used at the Tax office to obtain my Tax ID while still being on a tourist visa. With the help of a local because they had no English in there in Bangkok and/or didn't want to speak it.
  12. The new PM is the founder of Sansiri group if im not mistaken which is one of the countries most renowned and successful property developers. He has also been accused of tax evasion and as one of the richest men in the country is very concerned about inequality he said in a recent article relating to this change.
  13. No, it doesn't matter where you go or for how long you will always have Big Sam knocking on your door. If you leave/cut ties with Thailand as a tax resident (as a non US person) and stay over half the year in another jurisdiction you will be deemed a tax resident in the new jurisdiction and have no liability to Thai tax authorities.
  14. Not quite true. It depends on the rates in your home country and the rates in Thailand. If you pay rates in your home country equal to or greater than what the rates are in Thailand then you won't be taxed. If you pay less tax then Thai tax dept will take the difference so it meets Thai taxation rates. Maybe there will be exemption for taxations on government pensions, I dont know.
  15. Are there other names or hospitals that you would rate higher than the recommendation above?
  16. Not sure if there is such a specific type of orthopaedic professional for Tibia/Fibula fractures? I see there is for ankle, knee etc. Although I have never set foot in Samitivej Sukhumvit, any time I have emailed with questions they were quick to respond. Would this hospital/specialists be considering a good option for a Tibia reconstruction after a spiral fracture? Is there any indication as to what this might cost out of pocket? Are there alternative options/specialists available in Bangkok that can offer similar quality of work at a better price point?
  17. Can you post the link? Common for agents to post very low prices to get attention but "its already rented sir we have another one for x" when you ring up. Enquired about a place on Soi 13 that was advertised for 11k and couldn't get anything cheaper than 15k.
  18. The worlds foremost health and climate expert telling you we are all going to die from either climate change, pandemics or eating too much meat while he clocks up more emissions in one year than me and you do in our lifetimes. https://www.businessinsider.com/bill-gates-bought-43-million-san-diego-california-beach-house-2020-4 The west can continue on its track of green propaganda and its ever increasing price and unreliability of energy while China continues to provide reliable and cheap energy for its citizens and industry. https://www.npr.org/2023/03/02/1160441919/china-is-building-six-times-more-new-coal-plants-than-other-countries-report-fin
  19. It's the same everywhere, you have good and bad. Chances of finding bad in Pattaya exponentially higher than elsewhere in Thailand for obvious reasons. That goes for all types of locals not just the women.
  20. If you want raw milk go to a good supplier. Id suggest choosing grass fed cows as opposed to the industrial type. Good chance they are in better condition health wise than their corn/soy/antibiotic loaded counterparts. Maybe get in touch with Paleo Robbie to see if they can supply it or one of their suppliers. They choose more ethically friendly suppliers, by all accounts.
  21. Any examples? Ive never seen a 60m2+ place with pool/fitness in typical expat community a few mins from public transport for that price. Public transport meaning BTS?
  22. Dont forget Miami, all the owners of the media companies are buying water front properties whilst telling us we are all going to drown. People still swallowing this garbage is the funniest part.
  23. Is it just me or does there seem to be an inordinate amount of males from Scandinavia (given low population of these countries) in Pattaya and following on from that ones that get into strife?
