  1. A new age European. Millions of them now and alot of them having no interest in fitting in.
  2. Any dealer I talk to ask for a work permit. Most foreigners here are not on work permits I dont get it. Will they forget about asking for the work permit when I bring them the residency cert from immigration? Documents needed for residency cert - 1. passport 2. 2 passport pictures 3. Do I need a lease agreement or will a copy of the TM30 from landlord do the trick?
  3. For people who own property here?
  4. Falang tax you mean a higher price for the bike or some other rort?
  5. Will I end up at the dealers with all of these and be told I can’t buy a bike? I guess I better confirm where I will buy it and make sure we are on the same page documents wise
  6. Im in Phuket. Australian Passport. Elite visa Will they not accept drivers license as proof of address?
  7. Is it enough to have a driving license to buy a new bike or what documents are needed? If buying cash?
  8. From what I can see, this LocknLock is nothing more than a pressure cooker with different buttons that just do the same thing. It doesn’t matter what button you press you can only cook by pressure cooking. Garden path it is
  9. Whats the dark side of Pattaya? One thing that turns me off Pattaya is that it attracts the dregs of society. Both locals and foreigners. No doubt there are lots of good people too You get that here in Phuket too but to a lesser extent especially if you’re not spending too much time in Patong.
  10. It does seem to tick a lot of boxes. It’s not an area I’ve spent much time. I think it’s probably one of the cheapest places in the country to live if your budget constrained. Even if you’re not budget constrained it just means your $ goes further. I’ll have to look into the EEC areas suggested by another posted that sounds interesting
  11. I’ve not been to Chiang Mai for over 10 years. I really liked it when I was there. Rented a bike and drove the Mae Hong Son loop with a friend. Unless all the things I read and see on YouTube in regards to the pollution are fake it’s not somewhere I could live. Breathing that toxic any in for what, 4 months every year, doesnt sound in any way enticing to me. I think its not just Chiang Mai it seems to be the whole north of the country that’s affected by this?
  12. It seems For the bulk of foreigners who build in Thailand its due to them building where they have gotten land from their wife/wives family. So its not really a decision you made of where you want to build in Thailand its more a case of your building there because you have the land. It will save you to not have to buy the land and you can put more money into the actual house itself. It makes sense, in a way. For me Ive not travelled extensively throughout Thailands lesser known places. I've been to all the major places that most people know of but Im still unsure where I would like to call home. What locations would you consider being in the countryside but also being close to having all western/big city conveniences? For example I would consider Koh Chang being in the countryside but it lacks any decent medical facilities. I don't have much exposure to the tier 2 cities but for me the likes of Buriram is fine for a short visit but living there has alot of drawbacks. Big lack of restaurants/cafes for a westerner. Not much entertainment options. Not many younger middle aged expats 30-45 yrs, it seems to be mostly of age retirees with a few school teachers thrown in. A days drive or a flight away from all of the above. Any recommendations?
  13. Agreed. See if ive been led down the garden path over the next couple of weeks and need to go shopping again IMG_7262.HEIC
  14. Edit IMG_7262.HEIC
  15. Ive never imported anything here. Is there any issues getting deliveries for international products? Thought I read something about ridiculous taxes for imports that people get surprised with
  16. https://www.homepro.co.th/p/1241377 With the ninja I used pressure cook for 80% and then the last 20% was a tender crisp function to get a bit of a crust on the outside of my roast beef. Looking at the settings on the one you have how would you go about doing this on yours? 6L seems a bit small for a 2kg roast but I would sacrafice the size if it does a good job given the price.
  17. The ninja was great cooking up a big chunk of meat. You could do 80% in the pressure cooker and then finish it using the “Tendercrisp” function to five it a nice crust on the outside. You think the instant pot could do this too?
  18. I’ve using a ninja (there are different models) for three weeks over the Xmas at my sisters place. Easiest cooking device I’ve ever used and I’m not a good cook and the food turned out great.
  19. I’m looking to buy a multi cooker. I want to buy a Ninja brand but as far as I can see they don’t sell them in Thailand. Something similar to this https://www.ninjakitchen.com/products/ninja-foodi-14-in-1-8-qt.-smart-xl-pressure-cooker-steam-fryer-with-smartlid-zidOL701 Anybody know of alternatives available in Thailand? If I imported one from overseas what do I need to be aware of? It’s a big item I’m not sure it would make sense to import one
  20. I’m having similar issue as the OP but I only have two pin plugs. Aren’t all these fridges double insulated anyway? I would have to imagine the bulk of these earth cables never get any attention on installation.
  21. I dont read all the threads on here. Doesn't seem Dumb for a business to be boosting FCF by $250-300m a year which is directly related to EV ownership. If costs/maintenance/depreciation were as low as people proclaimed then they wouldn't be flogging them off like this. I do think they make sense for some people though.
  22. Has there being an uptick the last couple of years of young thugs across the country like this? I dont remember reading about it much in the past
  23. Hmmmm Detroit | Hertz plans to sell a third of its US electric vehicle fleet and reinvest in petrol-powered cars due to weak demand and high repair costs for its battery-powered options. The sales of 20,000 EVs began last month and will continue over the course of this year, the rental giant said on Thursday US time in a regulatory filing. Hertz will record a non-cash charge in its fourth-quarter results of about $US245 million ($366 million) related to incremental net depreciation expense. “The elevated costs associated with EVs persisted,” Hertz chief executive officer Stephen Scherr said in an interview. “Efforts to wrestle it down proved to be more challenging.” Bloomberg Intelligence senior credit analyst Jody Lurie said: “Hertz recorded elevated costs from its EV fleet in 2H23 [the second half of 2023]. Management said the reversal could boost free cash flow by $US250-300 million in 2024-25 and improve corporate Ebitda [earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortisation], but we see the reshuffling as material growing pains.”
  24. Have we still not moved past the notion that the Thai banks are morphing the Thai tax department?
