Retiring 5 hours away from the nearest half decent hospital? Seems like folly to me.

Retribution? No! Retribution is in response to some sort of attack. It's also a massive understatement of what happened under Mohammed. Consider the case of Banu Qurayza (a Jewish community). All the men and adolescent boys were beheaded, and all the women and children taken into slavery (and slavery here includes sex slavery.) No one knows how many men were murdered. Estimates range from 300 to a thousand or more. And all because the Jews refused to accept Mohammed as a prophet in the line of the Jewish prophets. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Siege_of_Banu_Qurayza

Discover Khao Tham Tao: Thailand’s monastery with Buddha’s footprint
Foxx replied to webfact's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
The footprint is hardly unique in Thailand. There's also a very famous one at Wat Phra Phutthabat in Saraburi. Globally there are more than 3,000. They are originally associated with the early centuries of Buddhism when replicas of the historical Buddha were not used (in accordance with Lord Buddha's instructions). For example, at Sanchi (3rd century BCE), he is represented variously by a tree or an empty chair. -
It's not a rant, but simply a statement of fact. If you think otherwise, try educating yourself. I'd suggest starting by reading the Koran, a book that Muslims believe is the literal word of their god - a book packed with murder, rape, paedophilia, blatant racism, &c. ,&c., all headed by the religion's prophet who Muslims believe is the perfect man and role model.

Thai actress slams Russian police and airline inaction after luggage theft

What good does that do when any criminal can buy a TSA lock key for less than 35 baht on Lazada? For example: https://www.lazada.co.th/products/kateva-tsa002-007-tsa-i4281712773-s16998343316.html -
Generally true. However, you can probably open an account with Wise and get a debit card, provided you've got a European address for delivery of the card. They're less fussy, certainly, than UK banks. Better exchange rates/lower fees, too. I now use my Wise card for pretty much all my purchases here.

I guess you can't read Thai. The phrase actually reads (in transcription) mây sày phǒŋchuurót MSG meaning "no add MSG". There's no added MSG in it at all.

It's acetic acid - in other words, vinegar. No big deal.

"A drug infamously touted by Donald Trump has been linked to nearly 17,000 Covid deaths in a new scientific study. Researchers say that the anti-malaria drug hydroxychloroquine was prescribed to patients during the first wave of Covid-19 “despite the absence of evidence documenting its clinical benefits.” The French study estimated that 16,990 patients in the US, France, Belgium, Italy, Spain and Turkey may have died as a result of the drug." Is Rybelsus (semaglutide) available in Thailand?
Foxx replied to grin's topic in Health and Medicine
At Pulse Clinic, it's 11,550 baht for a pack of 30. https://www.pulse-living.com/product/NDQzMjs= However, (a) they're on the expensive side, and (b) it's out of stock with them. -
My partner of 20 years (Thai) and I (British) want to visit the UK following the completion of his Ph.D. in a few weeks' time - touring Scotland and visiting my old friends. It's intended as a reward for the years of hard work he's put in on his research and dissertation. However, technically (well, and actually) he'll be unemployed. The plan is that he'll start looking for employment as a university lecturer after the visit. Is it going to be a non-starter applying for a UK Visitor Visa and just a waste of time and money? Or is there a realistic chance of one being granted? Other information: he owns the house we live in, he has plenty of savings to support himself during the trip, though I'll be paying for all flights and accommodation, and we've made one similar visit a few years ago when he was working and before starting his Ph.D.. Any thoughts? Advice? Thanks.

His title of "Vice Admiral" seems strangely apposite.

Pink Line Monorail to Start Collecting Fare from Jan. 7
Foxx replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Doesn't that rather depend upon whether all the wheels don't fall off, and whether the track doesn't plummet to the ground, and whether anyone is brave/foolhardy enough to travel on it? No service, or no passengers equals no fare collection. -
‘All of Denmark is crying’: Danes react to Margrethe II’s abdication

Funny, then that the Rugby Football Union fined him £25,000 and removed him from its elite player squad because they believed he had thrown a dwarf. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mike_Tindall#:~:text=On 11 November 2011%2C Tindall was fined £25%2C000 by the Rugby Football Union and was removed from its elite player squad as a result of his throwing a dwarf in Queenstown%2C New Zealand%2C during the 2011 Rugby World Cup. -

The Investing Year Ahead
Foxx replied to Mike Lister's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
Do you have any evidence for that? The only statements I could find were along the lines of: "BlackRock, the world's largest asset manager, is reallocating assets out of the US economy in preparation for a looming recession and corporate debt bubble, as warned by other investors as well." "Blackrock plans to move a significant portion of their portfolio out of the US and into emerging markets due to concerns about the corporate debt bubble, rising interest rates, and the potential for a looming recession." In other words, a partial exit, not "entirely". -
Pink Monorail to Changwattana Immigration?
Foxx replied to ricklev's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
What he said. For example, where exactly does it leave from (both going to Immigration and returning)? How much does it cost? How frequent is it? Thanks. -
I do hope they don't. It closed in 2018, so the fish would be pretty ancient by now. They now buy from its replacement, Toyosu Market. Incidentally, and I don't think this has been mentioned before, but the freezing for the top quality fish is done using liquid nitrogen best to preserve the fish texture, taste and aroma.

The first time I took doxazosin my blood pressure dropped dramatically (diastolic to around 40). I couldn't stand up and, to be honest, thought I might die. The symptoms passed in a couple of hours. When I took it the next day I had no side effects whatsoever. I guess the body adapts pretty quickly. Incidentally, you should never cut prolonged or extended release tablets. They are coated so that the drug is released slowly. By cutting the tablet you break the coating, so the drug comes out rapidly. You can save a lot of money by buying a local version (albeit not extended release). For example, Pencor 2 mg works out as 2.5 baht/tablet.

The plight of commodity investors.
Foxx replied to swissie's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
There's no such thing as "investing in commodities" - only speculation (a.k.a. gambling). With actual investments there is an income stream that can be discounted to NPV to provide a valuation for the investment. For commodities the price is based upon what one thinks (hopes, dreams) someone might pay for the commodity in the future.
