I would like to revive this thread because I don't think that anything was really resolved conclusively it comes up often and I'm interested. I have an additional question. What if the US or really any country expatriate has no heirs and no assets in the United States. The widow has no citizenship. Even with a green card presumably she does not want to return that can be left to expire as well. Why then would it be important to notify the US embassy?

This is weak. I'm pretty soft but I would not say I'm unhealthy and my weight is good. Back pain aside (which I developed during covid from sitting in a chair for huge amounts of time) I would say I'm pretty healthy. Just kill yourself then? Most people's health issues are self-induced.

The only people that I know that have died as early as 83 are smokers and two that had severe cancers. I have absolutely no plans to shuffle off my mortal coil at 83 ...93 yes. despite the self-inflicted damage I've done through self medication over the years and a bit of smoking as a teen. If you don't smoke and do not have any family history of severe health issues I don't see a problem of living to be 90 and in reasonably decent health. My uncle play tennis until he was 93, father lived until 93 although the last two years were not good and my mother is now 92 and doing well.

I would get a new passport given the temperament of the immigration officers these days. I had a few questionable stamps nothing illegal but just confusing stuff at immigration in my passport. The stamps were all screw-ups by immigration. I was questioned about these for 5 years and even thereafter they still looked hard at those pages... Appears you're legal now which is great congratulations. Nevertheless, when I'm back in my home country or find a convenient I would get a new passport

If you've switched a few times I can see that you had worked at two schools therefore I'm going to assume it's three. As you are on your fourth waiver. It's very possible that you will not receive that (and you absolutely will not receive a fifth unless you are enrolled in some sort of professional program) So after all this is drama is done and settled please be aware you have less than 2 years of teaching. As a second response I'd say that 500m Iprobably wouldn't worry about anywhere but I think after Ekamai the BTS line neighborhoods / kwang gets sketchy. Phra Kanong and On Nut better in last 10 years but after I find it quite slummy and unappealing not that it's necessarily dangerous
