B.S. - I have been hit 3 times by dumb Thai drivers merging into my lane without looking or signaling, all 3 lied to the police, just showed the cop my dashcam video footage each time, and all 3 instances went in my favor. I literally had one guy jump out and see me, and says "farang, farangs fault!", he was excited and thought he hit the jackpot, he entered from an exit ramp and then tried to drive perpendicular across 3 lanes of traffic on Chaengwattanna road without a blinker straight into my left rear door. He refused to give my insurance guy his information or license, so we all went to the Pak Kret police station, he got a talking to from the RTP about how to merge properly after they watched my video footage.

They should have picked a better target, like those nondescript black Mercedes being escorted by RTP motorcycles all over Bangkok.

Exactly, unless people have experience riding motorcycles in a 3rd world country, I would suggest avoiding getting on a motorcycle here. Anyone fresh from Australia, UK, US, Europe will be like a fish out of water on the roads in Thailand.

I'm a US citizen, and fairly conservative, but the one thing I think we should have in the USA is universal healthcare, instead we spend way more for way less, not to mention the long waits for just about anything. At least you guys have something to fall back on, in the US, you're on your own.

Lesson one, don't ride a motorcycle in a foreign country while on vacation unless you've been there for quite awhile, thus understanding the dangers of doing so. There really should be a warning to all tourist coming to Thailand, highlighting that 80% of road deaths are from those riding on motorcycles. In fact, I am surprised any insurance company would even have coverage for tourist riding motorcycles here.

Driving a motorcycle in Thailand, without a helmet, and without proper insurance, maybe not even a valid motorcycle license. I can't even fathom why anyone would come here and even take a chance riding a motorcycle, knowing full-well that this is a seriously dangerous place to drive anything, let alone a motorbike without a helmet.
