  1. You couldn't dream up this much instability, Thaksin returning will do nothing but turn up the heat on the overboiling pot. If he comes back and goes to jail, half the population will be in an uproar, if he comes back and doesn't go to jail, the ever-powerful Elites will be in an uproar. The only possible way it could work is if he is given a pardon on the condition he never speaks of politics again, or takes any part in politics again, then hides from the public eye. God forbid he dies while in custody, that might actually start a Civil War, there is really no good outcome with him returning, which is why they let him live in exile.
  2. I know what to do, setup a few committees to examine the cause, have them meet at the most expensive hotels, and dine like kings and queens. In a few months the committee will run out of money, and the problem will be forgotten, rinse and repeat.
  3. Welding in a Thai fireworks warehouse, what could go wrong? Safety as usual is an afterthought here in Thailand.
  4. Less people than before the pandemic, thus hike fees to make up the difference, Thai logic says fleece the foreigners.
  5. We just need to have automatic reciprocating fees in our home countries, see how they like it.
  6. (Your reply) You think living expenses in the USA are the same as Thailand? The OP wasn't making a comparison to Police forces in America. Thai Police are paid a pittance when compared to just regular Thai office workers or even Uni Grads. You didn't know that? Really? The problem isn't a financial one, it's a cultural one. Many Thais like to make as little effort as possible. Just plain wrong and only demostrates your lack of knowledge regarding Thais. Yes some are lazy......just like they are in your country. But it's innaccurate to tar them all with the same brush and ill-informed. whereas most police in the USA take pride in doing a job well. That is just not true. And that doesn't apply only to the police force. This also is untrue. Most people in "the west" do not love their jobs nor do they take pride in what they do. The law of averages tells us that there will be some who do but to insinuate that it's the norm is not true and disingenuous. Delusional much?
  7. Come to Maung Thang Thani, we have a 4 way stop where no one stops in any direction, full speed ahead! Even near Impact Exhibition and Convention Center they just blow right thru the stops signs, and I have personally watched multiple police officers fly right through the stop signs too, its just amazing that such an incompetent and useless RTP is allowed to exist.
  8. Its common knowledge in Thailand that police pay for higher positions, which explains the incompetence of the RTP, and the rampant corruption in their ranks. They resemble a Mafia, not a police force.
  9. They aren't even including the loan shark debt, or interfamily debt, Thai's love debt.
  10. My daughters renewed passport took 6 weeks and 2 days to arrive here after we visited the US Embassy in May of this year. My renewed passport is still processing, but I expect the same 6-7 weeks or so, we'll see.
  11. I wonder if the Deputy Commander understands he is incompetent and unfit for the job, it's highly unlikely he got his job on merit.
  12. If only I could talk my wife into moving our family back home, for now we are stuck in Hell.
  13. Thailand has the same percentage of police officers per 100,000 people as the USA, yet for some reason we never see them enforcing any rules/laws, unless in one of these publicity stunts. If they were out patrolling the roads daily and enforcing the existing laws (again Thai laws/rules almost exactly the same as other countries) they could make a big difference in safety here in Thailand, which would attract way more "quality tourist".
  14. Just think of how corrupt you would have to be to be even seen with the Heroin Dealer criminal Thammanat Prompao, let alone sitting in solidarity with him. Adorned in gaudy gold trinkets just drooling over his chance to get back at the trough.
  15. I wouldn't spit on Anuntin if he was on fire, relegate him to the dustbin of history.
  16. If anything, the elections were a complete rebuke of the Pheu Thai party, which makes the current events even more sad. Hopefully next time MFP takes over 200 seats. The Military Junta was always going to have it's core fanboys.
  17. The Military Junta or Pheu Thai, what's the difference? Two completely corrupt groups vying for their share of the loot, all drooling over their turn at the trough.
  18. Just as Pheu Thai planned, now the MFP won't get the Speakers position or the PM. Cholnan Srikaew couldn't look more ungenuine with that smile, in almost every photoshoot Pita acts like he is shaking the hand of the Devil.
  19. There is one bright spot, maybe if a Civil War happens I can finally convince my wife to leave this living Hell.
  20. Oh wonderful! Que the large protests, mixed in with manufactured violence, then the tanks roll in to save the day. Rinse and repeat.
  21. Immigration didn't say anything, there was blurring of the last stamp it transfer bled to the opposite page. But all went well, got my 90 day done, and my passport is out in the mail to the US Embassy, now the 6 week wait. Thanks guys ????
  22. Doing the 90 day in person tomorrow, then immediately sending out my passport for renewal, so I get back before the next 90 day. The blurring almost looks like someone smudged it with their hand, not easy to even tell it was water. Probably just overthinking it, probably fine.
  23. I figured that, just thought I would check ???? Its just slight blurring in a couple of older stamps, and the last one, but thats it.
  24. I got my passport slightly wet, but dried fast, a few stamps have some minor smearing. Would this be an issue for my 90 day? I am sending out the passport this week for a new one anyway (convenient). But not sure if it will become an issue for my 90 day tomorrow, or the transfer of stamps after the new and old passport return from the US Embassy. I wouldn't call it damaged, just moisture effecting it slightly.
