  1. Can't help you on that one, never used a motorbike taxi and don't intend to used one ever. Never owned a motorbike either.
  2. Poor sod, the immigration queue was too long..
  3. Return to the dark ages.. Thailand!
  4. Was it TRD, or one obscure officer within TRD? Unless BOI and/or TRD release a formal clarification we will have to wait another two or three years before RD's decisions shed light on this issue. In the meantime remit Y-1 income, early in year Y, so it is easy to prove you've done things by their book.
  5. But that [tax exemption] remains the case, even if the income must be remitted in a year posterior to the year of earning. Honestly I have given thought to this quite a while ago, and speculated that the tax reform was on the books when the LTR was being implemented, remember it was launched in September 2022 just one year before the first "Remittance tax". Government departments can mull over reform for years, waiting for a political opportunity to implement it. It isn't always the clueless politician who is in the driving seat. So in this case RD 743 was only needed to "grandfather" the old taxation rules on remittance.
  6. Yes that sounds like a wasted opportunity. 64 wasted lives, sad. R.I.P
  7. Does PR give you Income Tax exemption?
  8. Why not use them for target practice? They are ideally located right now.
  9. So what? Tsahal has an extremely stressful job to carry out, these reporters probably used provocation to get get what they wanted: a good copy. Nothing new there.
  10. You shouldn't fixate on that. Before Covid, Tops was close to the mark, just. But they have been going downhill fast, even the bakery now. They have never had any decent cheese. First Christmas without Panettone also, bought that one in Bangkok too. So we have given up completely. Could go shopping in Korat too, but it requires an overnight trip and is nearly as boring as Buriram, so Bangkok is the answer.
  11. Aren't talking about lifestyle and associated costs ? Maybe the OP should have specified what his aspirations were.
  12. The is a lot of stupid, unwarranted, criticism of the UN here, but feel free to have a go at UNRWA. It is a sewer, a river of slime.
  13. I do though, every 6 to 8 weeks, family trips and Bumrungrad trips, helps me (us) to keep our mental and physical health. I couldn't live in the big city though, but Issan wasn't the best idea either. Another warning for the young retiree(s). Even more money is needed...
  14. Yeah, if you don't get bored of this stuff. But right know I feel like a 400 grams T bone with a blue cheese sauce, French fries and a bottle of Beaujolais. Have to go to Bangkok for that, and once I've eaten I'll feel the Nana urge... All adds up. While I still have some hard ons I am too old to get a wage rise... Be careful guys before you come here.
  15. Things are bound to happen, if you are over 50. My medical expenses were near zero until my mid forties and have been going ever since. About half a million last year, and nothing catastrophic yet.
  16. Tops in Buriram has none of it, some frozen lamb chops maybe. But that's not the point, the topic is "Minimum required to live comfortably at a young retirement age". All the stuff I have mentioned costs two or three times what it costs back home; so, unless you want to go native, food will end up being expensive.
  17. The Bhutan tourist tax would be something to look at. Now, only highly educated, affluent, tourists would know of Bhutan's existence.
  18. Dunno.. The first six months in Israel, when my dad decided he couldn't stay in Fance after De Gaulle's 1967 treason were pretty rough. Was 15, but then life got better and better, was easy to get laid, education was pragmatic and the 1973 Yom Kippur war experience orgasmic... Well, marrying a French Goy, wasn't a great idea...
  19. Sure, and my point was that we shouldn't get our knickers in a twist right now. Hedge as much as we can and adapt as time tells us what the new reality actually is.
  20. How can I annoy you? Besides being me.
