Well it has been a week and 3 days and not a peep from SCB bank, so me being me I went to Kasikorn bank to try and open an account there, major fail, I dont know who mentioned immigration it wasnt me maybe my wife who was doing the translating, but ran into the cant open an account it must be 400000 baht for 2 months for verification, I said I dont need it for verification I use 40000 per month and only require confirm that it is my account, I said this numerous times and naturally was a tad sick of saying it in the end. I also may have mentioned who has the right to tell me what I can use an account for. Anyway I have now asked head office what do I have to do to open an account. Im running out of time to get 12 monthly payments in.

Well after my run ins with Bangkok bank, I want to change SCB as that was said to be an ok bank on forums. I went in and found out what was needed to open an account, after my marriage extension was finalised I went back and was told after they got my paperwork that it would be a week after they ran checks(I was not told this beforehand). Im running out of time to get money transferred to get my 12 monthly amounts for my extension Any suggestions for other banks. What the hell are they checking that takes a week.

As I had my Bangkok bank problems I took recommendations from here(yes I know it can be fraught with danger) and am trying the SCB for a change, went in yesterday to find out what is needed, young lady was very helpful talking mostly to my wife, I have to wait anyway as Im in middle of 30 day hiatus from application to approval, one thing she did ask to check if my current passport is on my sim in my phone other than that its pretty straight forward. I will keep my bangkok bank acct for all those trivial payments each month or for other purchases. Oh and yes Bangkok bank have joint accounts well at least for passbooks didnt want to push for a card.

Ok thanks to this post it all got sorted out, yes ask for a confirmation Letter that this is your account, dont mention verification, they still had to ask one of the girls and she said yes and its 100 baht. Immigration was not sure either but after a picture and send upstairs I think it was ok. If I had not read your post I would probably be rustling up the 400k mto freeze for 4 months.

It does effect the pay in monthly I cant get a letter for my marriage extension From BBK bank after paying in for the last 12 months and 2 years prior. What they want is pure and simple blackmail. I will be going back monday and asking for a letter of confirmation that the account is held in my name solely, if no go I will go to Buri Ram and ask. I will also open a SCB account will there to stop this crap.

This seems to the sticking point, you are not asking about the status of the account only that it is solely in your name or am I wrong again

Yes it seems it maybe a missing in translation thing, I will try and ask for the Bank Letter. That's a simple statement that confirms you as sole owner of the account and balance in day of issue. 100b and be home free.

I always thought that the letter was a verification for the transfers and immigration didnt straighten me out on that, so I will try the verification of my account and my post was all over the place as I had so much going on in my head

They are refusing to issue letters of verification for visa renewals because of a new rule from head office, even if you have paid in the 12 monthly deposits from overseas

Yes this is true verified by me today you cannot get a verification letter from Bangkok bank Lam Plai Mat branch, yes I have the 12 month statement showing the transfer but immigration has the police order saying they need a letter. Bangkok Bank at no time notified me of this, they know where Im at because they rang me about the security checks, they just put a line in the sand and said no more, not a warning they were changing and saying next year its 400000 baht or nothing It looks like my marriage visa renewal will fail because of this.

I started getting ready for my Non O reason Marriage last week I ordered the 12 monthly statement on my account. Yesterday we rang and it was ready, went down to get it and everything was fine until I asked for the verification letter, which I usually get for 300 baht, was told they dont issue as the statement is good enough( actually it is but, the police order still states they need a letter) they then stated that they only give a verification letter for 400,000 baht held for 4 months were they plucked that from only knows, I said thats fine but I was never told this at anytime even when they had me in to do the over the top person verification and they kept parroting the 400,000 baht bit, all well and good but I brought the money in in good faith and now you wont verify it. Sure enough lob at immigration this afternoon and was told I need a letter, I said they wont give one, I even said ok I will get copies of transfer from my bank to wise then transfer by wise to Bangkok bank, nope, he even tried Korat and Surin and they have the same problem the officer was very very helpful he tried his best, its stupid for a bank to change the rule and not tell its customers but then its Thailand, they should have covered this year and then told cant do next year. What are my optoins, I have until the 21st of September 1 Go back to Australia and start all over again, Definitely not a preferred option. 2 Find an agent to handle this for me. 3 Find a lawyer to do it for me 4 Start a class action suit against Bangkok bank( there will be more than just little old me caught in this, if in another country would be my preferred option. Sorry it is so long but hell Im so frustrated

Not a scammer I went into bank and the woman I talked to on the phone was aummoned to talk to me.

Well went in and they knew I wasnt happy I would say the one handling it goes to many branches, the girl I usually deal with stayed well away from me and talked to my wife; they copied my passport my expired Queensland driving license and my pink ID card and as stated above yeah maybe I will try elsewhereas it seems its only Bangkok bank.

which of those too get jam packed with government hand outs
