  1. I don't believe anything - I am trying to work out what the text on a Customs website means - see the OP: (1) Nonresidents changing their residence into Thailand must be granted a non-immigrant quota as shown in their passports or Nonresident Identification Cards; or
  2. Thanks but as I've stated several times, Customs cannot mean PR. The other stipulations are that to be imported duty free, items must be imported no more than 1 month before an applicant arrives in Thailand and no more than 1 month after. It takes several years to obtain PR so those deadlines could not be met.
  3. You are of course, entitled to your opinion.
  4. Why is the term 'immigrant' relevant? Murders are committed worldwide by all races.
  5. I am not a Trump fan in any shape or form but I totally agree with his sentiment in this matter - that there are only 2 genders - MALE & FEMALE. There are also both males and females that are attracted to the same sex - that doesn't change their gender. I'm happy that steps are being taken to rid the US of the demands to address people differently etc. Hopefully that will be picked up by the UK too. I was never going to call people 'them or they' though, it is and will always be 'him or her'.
  6. I don't see anywhere in his post where he says its a credit card.
  7. Correct, and of course, firefighters all over the world are some of the bravest people around. I would state though, that I suspect a degree of 'journalistc licence' was applied in the style of reporting in this case. Given the type of fire, I doubt the firefighters were in any particular danger on this occasion. I suspect they managed to get the truck stuck and simply had to abandon it. This was not a blazing inferno high rise buidling, its a field where agricultural waste was being burned, probably illegally. It is likley that nearby unharvested crops were threatened so the fire department were called. Last month I was up in deepest Isaan and saw a field well ablaze - farm workers were walking around in the field at will and a tractor was being used to push waste into the fire - right into it. They didn't appear to be in any danger and obviously didn't feel they were either. Critics might note that despite the supposed 'intense flames' there are trees in the photo accompanying the report with their leaves still intact. Its a bit like a report on the recent Thai airways emergency landing in Phuket which in one source (not Asean Now) was reported as 'Near Disaster Averted: Thai Airline Flight's Dramatic Engine Failure and Heroic Crew Response.' . That repoort also carried a photo of an airliner with a large hole in the fuselage for effect - it was an unrelated photo. Yes, it was less than ideal that the aircraft had to land on one engine but I don't believe either the crew or pasengers were in any real danger - it was 'good press' though. Its 'journalistic licence' and I believe a degree of that was applied in the original version of this story. Such 'licence' is very often used by journalists the world over but moreso it seems, in Asia. People here should chill out and not jump to conclusions so quickly. Most of here know Thailand very well I think.
  8. No I didn't but I opened my account with a UK address in any case.
  9. I was purely going on the photos on the Wise website where it has neither the Visa or Mastercard logos on it. Apparently though, its available as either.
  10. I have and its exactly the same.
  11. Calm down, it doesn't do for a man of your age to go getting so upset.
  12. The next thing you know, people will be claiming that these pesky bikers ride at night without any lights on.
  13. A totally enthralling story, thanks so much for reporting this, Our lives will be so much richer as a result of your selfless toils.
  14. They don't do that anymore - remember? Sorry but I'm struggling to keep a straight face - a fire truck bursts into flames on its way to deal with a fire, you just couldn't make this stuff up, could you? Later, Mr Somchai Laurel and Mr Saman Hardy stated they felt lucky to be alive.
  15. Motorbikes going the wrong way in Thailand? Never heard anything so outlandish in my life.
  16. Oh please! Go easy on him, don't you know he's a sick man 😁.
  17. Another Thai news source (I don't think I can name it) goes really over the top on this story: Near Disaster Averted: Thai Airline Flight’s Dramatic Engine Failure and Heroic Crew Response They show a photo of a plane with a gaping hole in the fuselage (nothing to do with this incident) - crazy!!! More footage states: 'With the world’s eyes glued to this developing story' Slightly over the top me thinks!
  18. Are you the guy in other threads - the one that seems to want to jail and deport everyone?
  19. And the Thai's that do stop and pay a *fine* for not having their licence with them (the licence they don't actually have)? Ride around with no helmets on every day? Run red lights? Ride the wrong way on a carriageway? Have no lights? The vast majority of the above goes unpunished. In central Korat underage schoolkids ride 3 up with no helmets on, on their way to school, right in front of the police controlling the traffic - are they not breaking Thai laws with impunity? These foreigners in Phuket need to learn from the Thai's that ignore police checkpoints - take your number plate off stupid! It seems these *netizens* really don't like us 😁.
  20. Has anyone used the Wise debit card in Thailand? Work in Thai ATM's? Charges? Given that its not a Visa or Mastercard, have you been able to make purchases with it?
  21. They are available in my local store but after changing a few and the fact that my ceiling lamp was continually full of dead insects I changed it for a circular LED ceiling lamp. It wasn't expensive, insects can't get in and it should be cheaper to run. 5 minutes to fit.
  22. I'm curious to learn why you think problems are a possibility - just don't forget your re-entry permit.
  23. It wouldn't matter if there were positive reports, 1 person with such a history might pass through immigration without question, someone with the same entry history in a different queue might be denied. With that sort of history its down to the I.O. on the day.
  24. Thailand is not Europe. Its very difficult to hold a Thai lawyer responsible for any advice they give - so with an accountant, you've no chance. Of course, employing an decent accountant should result in your tax return being correct but I'm pretty sure that if its not - ultimately you will be the one held responsible.
