Just a thought from a non electrician - although I agree with Crossy that your problem is probably due to moisture............. I've known leakage on Thai sockets and light switches. Some seem to be very poorly insulated and the insulation that does exist seems to break down over time. I discovered this after getting a 'tingle' from a light switch - I went round checking all sockets and switches with a meter and a small voltage was present on quite a few - on the plastic!!! The one that gave me a 'tingle' was registering over 100 volts!!! Also, because many Thai houses don't have a separate lighting circuit, when testing for moisture, you may also need to check the light switches/fittings. It took me a while to work out how the lighting in my house is wired - a simple live taken from a socket in the room 😁. The lights seem to have their own neutral though - so that's alright then 😁.

Transfer ownership of bike from another province
MangoKorat replied to JimmyTobacco's topic in Motorcycles in Thailand
Correct. Also, don't listen to those who tell you that you will have to return to the Land Transport Office (LTO) where the bike is currently registered to effect the transfer - that is not correct. You will however, have to carry out the transfer at the main LTO in your province. You may also need a certificate of residence (COR). I was required to have one when I went to register my bike in my name. However, I recently enquired what I needed to transfer my car into my name and my local LTO gave me a written list of the required documents - no mention of a COR. I suspect though, that when I go to do it, the LTO will request one. Once the paperwork is done, you will have to wait a few days then return to pick up the new plates. I'm told though, that vehicles originally registered in Bangkok can retain their original plates - not sure if that's true or not. If the previous owner was a foreigner, you will need a signed copy of their passport to accompany the POA. The statement in a post above is not correct - the passport does not need to have a current visa in it. The previous owner of my bike had actually left the country. -

Despite his claims, Trump is a devious, ill meaning liar. He has little respect for the law and been involved in dozens of court cases over the years - many before he became president of the USA. His treatment and regard for the opposite sex is legendary. He has divided a nation, even divided families and severely weakened the USA's consideration on the international stage. His lies are often just crazy - from suggesting bleach might cure covid to stating that immigrants are eating pet dogs and cats. When anything goes against him - either he's caught out lying or new legal action is taken, he cries 'witch hunt'. He is also though, very cunning and knows exactly how to gain support of people by claiming emapthy with them and using populist ideals. Many of his supporters just take his claims as gospel and don't even bother to check them out. He has been very succesful in getting them to believe that the 'deep state' is actually out to get them and he has spawned many, quite ridiculous conspiracy theories. Incidentally, quite a large proportion of Trump supporters appear to be conspiracy theorists. A recent conspiracy theory, spread by a Trump supporting congresswoman claims that the recent Hurricanes in the USA are a result of the government controlling the weather. Trump himself spread misinformation regarding the current government's response to Hurricane's Helen & Milton - claiming that victims would only receive $750 and that disaster relief funds were being diverted to illegal immigrants. Both those claims are totally false. Interestingly, this seems to have caused division within the Republican Party itself. Do you support people like that? The above by the way, has nothing at all to do with the forthcoming election battle between Trump and Harris. I'm not from the USA so who wins the election has very little bearing on my life - so I'm not inviting comments from people comparing the two. No, what interests me is what is wrong with the mentality of US citizens that support Trump? As a Trump supporter, just how many lies does he have to tell, how many laws does he have to break before you would even start to question your allegiance to Trump. Does it not bother you at all that he and to a certain extent the USA as a collective, was seen as a joke by the rest of the world when he was president? Far from making America great again, the USA's international standing took a large backward step during those years. One of his latest lies was to deny a claim that he sent covid testing kits to Putin. Moscow has now confirmed that they did in fact receive those testing kits - Trump, as far as I know, has gone very quiet on that one. In the UK, we had a similar situation when Boris Johnson entered politics. Another proven liar, who divided the country and gained a criminal conviction for activities during his period in office. It took far too long but Johnson is now history. The divisions he created though, remain and it may take a very long time to heal the damage that man did. Trump's misogyny is legendary - he claimed "when you're a star you can do anything, grab 'em by the pussy".......... is this the man you want for president? This isn't simply about bad politicians, every country has had them - this about people who do serious damage to their country, its reputaion and its standing. Its about trying to understand the support held by someone who clearly tried to incite insurrection on 6 January 2021. What will it take to make Trump supporters come to their senses - what does he have to do? Will you believe whatever he says? Do you ever check out his claims? The man comes over like a spoiled 11 year old every time he opens his mouth. How did such a person win almost 47% of the popular vote in 2020? I just can't work it out. Can anyone explain all this? I'm happy to take replies but please remember - this is not about comparing Trump to Harris.

Illegal land occupation
MangoKorat replied to w94005m's topic in Real Estate, Housing, House and Land Ownership
Yes, its amazing how they change their train of thought. I've been involved in 2 legal disputes in Thailand - one against an organisation and one against an individual. In both cases, the oppostion dug their heels right in - thinking I was bluffing. Maybe Thai's threaten court action regularly? I only ever do that when I know I'm in the right. On both occasions the other side quickly changed their mind and settled once they received a court summons. -

I think you are over estimating the man's importance and influence - he's just a village head man. -

You might also ask the lawyer about the legal position in Thailand - I'm not sure on this one but in the UK, properly registered land should be sold with vacant possession unless otherwise stated and a seller can be sued if they state it is legally vacant when its not. If the land is not actually vacant (legally), you might have a claim against the seller. -

To establish the factual boundaries - simply visit the land office. If the land does have a channote, it doesn't matter if someone moves the corner markers or steals them completely - the GPS co-ordinates are recorded. If you can get the 'squatter' to visit the land office with you, they might persuade him of the error of his ways. Your local police force might 'evict' him for you at a cheaper rate than the lawyer. A note of caution though - ask around with the locals, see if they know what's happened. The 'squatter' could be trying it on or he could have been duped. -
Thai visa shake-up: Southeast Asia consulates switch to e-visa only
MangoKorat replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
I'm not sure they actually have to be in the country - a VPN would surely sort that out. However, I believe residency must be proved. A passport for a national and some proof of residence (visa etc.) for others is probably what's required. -

I doubt it. Countries that have gone over to E-Visa clearly state that applications are only accepted from residents or those with legal residence. It forms part of the rules. -

One thing you need to be aware of is that when a Thai Embassy or Consulate switches to E-Visa, only residents of that country and those with legal residence can make an application. -

Well believe it or not, the maximum allowable speed on the section of the M6 that's open is jusy 80 kph. That's 50 mph - on a motorway??? Not that anyone pays attention to it but they might soon.............. last time I was up there (August) a lot of mid height poles were being installed around 500m apart, as the lights are already in, I suspect the poles may be for cameras. 80 kph? - I'll be sticking to the old road thanks. -

Minister Pushes for Bangkok F1 Race Plan with 2024 Deadline
MangoKorat replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
They have been in discussions on this for 7 years that I know of - probably much longer. Apparently with a few tweaks Burriram circuit would be up to standard but the location and availability of accommodation put it out of contention. As I said in an earlier post - if Liberty Media or the FIA get the slightest whiff of corruption, all will be over. I suspect there'll be slightly more than a whiff of it. Can you imagine the FIA issuing a spec, the Thai's agreeing to it and then building it the 'Thai way'? it would get knocked back at every inspection. They would be totally baffled as to why the 'inspections' can't be sorted out over dinner. They just wouldn't get it - follow a spec? Fully? Correctly? FIA, they joking chai mai Somchai? -
Minister Pushes for Bangkok F1 Race Plan with 2024 Deadline
MangoKorat replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Given that the Vietnam debut of F1 in 2021was cancelled because of Covid and subsequent plans cancelled (by F1) because a communist party leader, heavily involved in the implementation of Vietnam in the F1 calender, was arrested (then jailed) on corruption charges, I don't think Bangkok's got a hope. Just saying like. But I forgot, there is no corruption in Thailand now of course - because the NACC have dealt with it...........................................................
