The farangs who have not declared in their home country the purchase for their house in Thailand should start to worry and quickly sell.

He would definately make visa issues and formalities much more simple and quick for the quality retirees who are residents in Europe. Mainly residents of countries like France, Germany, or Switzerland who are fully insured for all medical expenses by law by their social security schemes and are wealthy retirees with big pensions. He also may make a simple task like getting a residence certificate from immigration more simple, quick and with less paperwork. Such little details are important and can push people to choose another country to spend their pensions.

Reminds me of some stories from residents in pool villa developpments in Hua Hin. The farang developpers will agree to all the requests from buyers and only show up later, once the upgrades are made and paid, and only them inform that it was the wrong or non-compatible choice.

Another good reason never to become a full time resident here and again Thailand will loose money from the high spending retirees who will change their residence status in Thailand and stay for shorter time.

You think that no bribes are given in Europe, on purchase of military gear amongst NATO member nations who are politely and implicitly required to purchase a quota of US weaponery ? There were quite a few scandals involving some top ranking ministers in Germany on the issue in the past...

The US-Thai commercial issue should rather be taken from the opposite stance. Thailand should rather seek developping new business ventures with superpowers like Europe, Russia, the Middle East, China or India and not so much with the US that has an economy that is nearing foreclosure !

Foreigners or anybody else... is always well treated in Thailand, provide they show reciprocity in respect. Just like the dollar, Europe and the Union are dommed under their current shape. Europe is going down as we are becomming far to docile and patsy with the USA. Many EU nations are already going showing hostility against the will of Washington via Bruxelles !... and are shifting to far right nationalist governance. European people are slowly understanding that the leaders of the Union in Bruxelles are mainly defending American interests, that are not the same interests of the european people.
