Time to move to another country as with the current political instability strong chances that they will start targetting all foreigners with bank accounts in Thailand.

All the tourism boom figures are plainly predictions. With all the current unstability, all the immigration harassment towards foreigners on visa issues and the current xenophobia against foreigners, the bad quality of the air and the polluted beaches, tourists and retirees are chosing other countries in the world for holidays or to spend the winter months.

Depending on who is crowned as new PM, life can become even more difficult for foreigners and expats in Thailand on immigration and other administrative issues. Quite a few Thai's in power are highly xenophobic and racist towards all foreigners no matter from where. Time to start looking for another more foreigner-friendly country in Asia.

At one point some of the web TV like Netflix etc get to memorise all the VPN IP numbers and one cannot connect. Not sure if it's still the case ? But is VPN legal in Thailand with all the red tape hassles that change daily here ?

No matter from which country they are from....such drunkards should plainly be deported as they make trouble and give a horrible image of all foreigners.

Same with True prepaid as soon as it's topped up. They just love to scam money from farangs.

In that case they should not be crying that foreigners do not want to come to Thailand as much.

Nothing can excuse criminals from violence against the Police or vandalising others property. But on the other hand, authorities need to stop closing their eye on the problem caused by the massive migrants who arrive daily on boats. Perhaps that the authorities are aware that much of the UK economy runs with the handling of ungrateful jobs that nobody wants to do, except the migrants who are illegally employed and underpaid of course. Italy is a fine example with the mafia in league with the trafickers and other tour operators who bring in the migrants in Italy. As much of the agriculture in Italy is now in the hands of the mafia who uses the cheap illegal labour of migrants to feed the west. Same in most western countries that close an eye on this cheap labour.

Be them from Kuwait, the UK. the US or Europe or any place.... Any foreigner, provided proven guilty to have created fights in Thailand, must be deported (at their expense) immediately. The system prefers to harass the quality foreigners and retirees on visa, immigration and health insurance issues but the scumbags who come to Thailand and create problems, are free to roam.

The No 1 issue that will push many to leave Thailand and discourage others to come here, would be the new tax rules.

Oh Man...the retiree-patrol is back...

Besides houses, many things in Japan are cheaper then in the west of course, but also cheaper then in Thailand. Vers surprising.

1. We learn that they like our money but many do not really like the falang foreigner. 2. We learn that better to avoid the unknown westerners who try to start a conversation in public areas. 3. We learn that many western businesses cheat other westerner customers more then the thai businesses do. 4. We learn that elementary politeness in public has long been discarded by foreigners/falangs, but remains very present amongst thais and even the bully type Thais, are very much polite people. 5. We learn that nothing is consistent and all depends on the mood of the assistant behind the counter ot make up or unmake his or her rules of the day.

I do not lean on other people's cars.

If one is broke obviously India is not the place of first choice. But if one has a decent spending power, India is a great place to be with great services and healthcare and very friendly to foreigners. The shopping is also amazing and Indian food is one of the best in the world if one goes to the decent restaurants of course.

Surprisingly Japan is now far cheaper and more welcoming then Thailand. In fact most countries in Asia are including India. Any place but avoid Thailand.

The real fascists are amongst the Biden clan who are supplying arms to Israel and thus contributing to global war crimes. Netanyahou is under internal arrest warrant for war crimes. But yet a big part of the US Congress was licking his boots and letting him make his speech at the Capitaol. That is fine, but in that case allow also Putin to come and give his version of the story regarding Ukraine.

How will this even work for tourists, considering all the hassles the banks in Thailand make even to those who own property in Thailand and come over on a non imm O visa for instance ?

Don't look at which Bank. Look at how the staff treat you in your area. I had horrible experiences with Bangkok Bank in Hua Hin but it was lovely in Bangkok. Same with K Bank in some branches the staff was rude and obviously hated foreigners like in the Hua Hin main Branch, but in Bangkok they were just lovely and efficient. So the Bank has nothing to do with it. Check out your branch and see how they behave with foreigners as the racism and xenophobia in Thailand against foreigners and expats seems on the rise in the past few years.

Platinioum rule in Thailand, as much as possible avoid mingling with the westerners here. Of course all are obviously not the types to avoid. But I personnaly keep my distances with the tatooed types or the mouthy scandinavian, UK, US or german types with their rent-a-week teen girlfriends and who love to boast all around. Keep in mind that most of these people were nothing back home and had no social status whatsoever in their native homelands. Once in Thailand, thanks to the exchange rate and cost of living many become overnight millionnaires. Of course I am only referring to those who are like that and obviously this is not charachteristic to all these nationals. So don't twist what I mean. Those really loaded in wealth, rarely need to brag all over and would not be living here in the first place maybe ? Avoid these chaps with their big ego issues or drug or booze abuse issues that are rarely visible at first signt. Many can look decent but can suddenly shift and turn violent at the slightest contradiction or mainly after a few drinks and when in a club with girls. Their deeply rooted inner complexes and lack of self esteem can suddenly take over and turn them violent. Have fun, stay safe, play around but never give your real address to strangers or bring any girlies back to your house especially if you live a a nice post pool villa.

Always very unpleasant to hear stars of footbal, entertainement or TV, making politically oriented statements in public. As if the public gives a hoot ? They are there to entertain...not to teach society how to vote or how to orientate one's political convictions.

Always very amusing to read falang men (not refering to you) in Thailand making vile or racist comments against other male foreigners who have different looks...but and the end of the day it appears that those falang men only manage to afford a dark skinned Thai lady. Sometimes obvioulsly by attraction maybe... The colour consciousness exists in many communities, right into deep Africa surprisingly... but mainly amongst the lower classes who cannot hit on others apart from colour of their skin and some communatarist divisions...in educated upper class environments, no matter where, people rarely are so colour conscious...

Never...never put anything of value in pockets of your shorts, unless they are the front pockets and zip or velcro closed that is rarely the case. U use a side pouch or similar with a sling and wear it front as to have it under my field of vision.

Highly possible as they use commercial made instant curry pastes that usually come from a very limited amount of suppliers in the shops. Every where people are doing "sinkflation" in reducing not the price but the quality, the quantity and the standards of the produce used to make the dish.

Very true as those exchange booths in the basement of BKK airport are not all that good deals. even the exchange booth a hua hin mall was giving similar or even a bit better rates then at those previously very popular exchange booths in Bangkok Airport basement.
