Where would you retire -- if money wasn't an issue?

It's comfortable. That's all. -
What Movies or TV shows are you watching (2023)

This is going to hurt. Watching this show might hurt too, but for me in a good way. Dark dark dark! The adventures of a very non-stereotypical gay man as a stressed out NHS obstetrician (delivering babies). I am not a doctor so it's irrelevant to me how "authentic" the story is, but it does feel real. The satirical contrast to a private hospital vs. the NHS is delicious. Don't watch if depressed, it might trigger you. The lead actor is brilliant and funny. You've been warned. -
I guess you think that's funny. If you want to say gay people, say gay people. No need for silly dated euphemisms. In any case laws come from the legislature. Immigration enforces immigration law. The Move Forward Party is on record for marriage equality but not aware of any policy statements on same sex marriage between a Thai and a foreigner as far as immigration law.

Many people actually do that but I reckon for most people that would get very boring much quicker than that. -

A few million isn't really rich. Let's say you're talking 50 million plus and then I think I would go really big and study the lives of Russian oligarchs. Not sure if I would buy places but I would "slow travel" much of the time to places like London and New York in good weather seasons (for the culture and live theater), and would mix in tropical paradises in luxury compounds. I would probably get all piggy and become a client of the "Nomad Capitalist" to avoid over taxation based on residency, give up my U.S. citizenship, and put a higher value on preserving health and longevity. I might not come to Thailand ever again as I think I would favor safer more developed destinations. To add, if it was "just" a few million I buy a modest home for cash in the U.S. for about 400K in a place like Asheville North Carolina, enjoy life, and travel abroad as much or as little as I felt like. -
Read the OP. I never said that he had. This is a DISCUSSION topic. It's more of an unintended consequences (from our POV) kind of topic IF the new party government is formed and is successful in it's aims to propel Thailand forward. I say that because I believe most expats are happy about the election results and share some guarded optimism with most Thai people about them. But wouldn't it be ironic if it ends up biting us (as a general group)? That's all. Again, for discussion and entertainment purposes only.
