When Trump calls the U.S. the garbage can of the world is that a joke too?

You're confused. Party nominating conventions are not elections. The primary election happened before and it was all over before Biden withdrew. Then because of the timing a new primary election process was impossible. So the democrats had the choice between an open convention (NOT ELECTIONS!) and unifying behind the Vice President. Again, the delegates were completely free to NOT vote for her at the convention and other democrats were completely free to challenge her. NOBODY DID. Deal with it and stop the silly sniping.

There weren't any. Nobody chose to step into that. As that's the way it happened, if there really was an anti-Harris groundswell, the delegates could still have chosen to not vote for anyone. Yet almost all of them voted for Harris. You can't act like this was a normal situation where there could have been a new primary. That was IMPOSSIBLE. It obviously was because Biden withdrew so late in the process after he had fully secured the nomination. Ideally Biden shouldn't have ever run for reelection, but he did, so you deal with reality as it is. The democrats then had to choose between a risky divisive internal fight or to unify with who was most logical, the Vice President, whose name at least was on the same ballot as Biden in the primaries. The democrats made the wisest choice available to them at the time.

Today's world is divided between pro autocracy and pro democracy. This is not a normal election. Bring Trump back to power and the next election will be like what just happened in the country of Georgia. Authoritarians, fascists, whatever you want to call them, once they gain power no longer allow real electios. Trying to normalize this election as being about mundane policy issues is completely wrong. This is a referendum on whether the USA joins the global nexus of autocracy, or continues to fight on for democracy. That's why I say maga fascists are not decent Americans BY DEFINITION. In fairness, though many Trump voters just plain IGNORANT and don't realize what this election is really about. Put Trump into power and it will be TOO LATE.

Looking at many polls can be even worse as there are many more republican leaning polls. The maga fascists are using this to lie to their people that they will definitely win, so when they lose, it will be easier to incite violence to try to take power without winning, as fascist Trump tried to do last time, and still not conceded. I don't understand why even one decent American can support Trump after that.
