Thailand Passes Landmark Same-Sex Marriage Law
They've been at this so long its kind of anticlimatic, eh? But yes historic. Good for Thailand and good for Thailand's international soft power brand.

Thailand to tax residents’ foreign income irrespective of remittance
Yeah there have been times that immigration has sprung harsh surprises without reasonable grace periods. That is why I recommend that everyone has a plan B outside of Thailand.

Is Thailand's subtle bias to Russia (vs. the collective west) risking secondary sanctions?
This relates to the actual topic. I do not believe that Thailand is neutral and I do not believe the west or Russia believes it either. I'm not saying they're rabidly pro Putin or anything like that but the strong economic ties with Russia show the actual reality. If you actually believe they're actually neutral that's fine. I don't.

Is Thailand's subtle bias to Russia (vs. the collective west) risking secondary sanctions?
I'm not really complaining. People almost always try to hijack topics. I'm just saying I will not participate further in off topic areas on this topic. It doesn't interest me. What interests me is pointing out the possibility of secondary sanctions here which if that happens. would most likely impact expats here. This is an expat forum. Expats are my focus in starting this. Debate amongst yourselves as you wish, but don't expect me to play with you.

I've fallen into Grab (food) "customer service" hell!
In case anyone is actually following this at the granular level, the reasons I decided to pay the false charge were to both get instant cashless access of course but ALSO because of a faint hope that would solve the blockage of normal customer service (chat and call) on my app. It did not. I could have filed a double payment form before doing that with an explanation and just because I do now have an actual double payment doesn't necessarily mean Grab will agree with me. As far as they're concerned, I hadn't paid before. As stated before. it's not about a clearly unfair one time hit of 300 baht which is obviously no big deal, rather its about the entire application not being trustworthy for me anymore, and sadly that is still the case.

BOLT has restaurant delivery?!?

Is Thailand's subtle bias to Russia (vs. the collective west) risking secondary sanctions?
Look, I did start this topic, but I see it's attracting a lot of hostility, and a lot of moronic anti western, anti democracy rhetoric. I'm not interested in wasting my time with that. I started this to bring up a concern that I haven't heard before -- the risk that Thailand might eventually be hit with secondary sanctions because of their obvious strong economic ties with fascist dictator Putin's Russia and that IF it does that will mean Thai banks, and expats depend on Thai banks. That's all. No predictions that will ever happen, but it might.

I use BOLT for rides, not Grab. But I use Grab a lot for restaurant delivery.

Is Thailand's subtle bias to Russia (vs. the collective west) risking secondary sanctions?
I don't think Thailand's position on the Russian war of aggresion has anything to do with ideology about historical colonialism or anything else. It's about where they think they can make the most money. They play neutral of course also to try to preserve western economic ties as well.

That's a stupid distinction promoted by maga fascists. Yes, the Constitution Set Up a Democracy - The Atlantic

Your bias isn't subtle. You're getting into stuff outside this topic. I meant to highlight that Thailand's position has the possibility of attracting attention that could possibly impact expats here.

There is a global trend towards totalitarianism over democracy. It seems to me the west lacks the great leadership to turn that tide. You talk about threatening sanctions. The sanctions so far are very real, not threats. Russia has been effective at getting around them, so its always a moving target.

Is Thailand's subtle bias to Russia (vs. the collective west) risking secondary sanctions?
There I said it. Thailand plays neutral on Russia's genocidal war of choice against Ukraine, but it's not hard to see a pro Russian bias in reality. It's about Thailand's national interest, economic interest, not about morality. This video speaks of the situation starting at 6:30: So of course right or wrong Thailand is a sovereign nation and has the right to set it's own foreign policy, just as Ukraine is a sovereign nation that Russia doesn't want to exist. So as expats, why should we care? Well, maybe we shouldn't, but following the news a new set of sanctions just hit Russia and Putin is freaking out. It probably won't be the last set of sanctions. The trend is towards SECONDARY sanctions and BANKS are a prime target. What am I getting at? Well if Thailand gets hit with secondary sanctions, it seems to me that expats here dependent on foreign transfers might be hit by that as well,

I've fallen into Grab (food) "customer service" hell!
I was unable to fix the app. I did find a way to.form report that so I can send them a screenshot of missing help.system. I paid the demand and can now order cashless. I will file the double pay form. If they accept it as it would be a debit refund that can take 45 business days up.to never. I no longer trust the app. I will order more expensive orders cash and monitor if the problem of charges not being recorded repeats. So now in customer service purgatory.

Now you're a Grab customer service worker?!? You really are incredible. Reporting on a form about double payment before you are forced to pay double pay is in my view very related to double payment and that issue could be described on their form along with documentation. I already said I get your point about actually double paying being cleaner. I haven't decided yet which I will do. So sue me!

Now that's a good question. How did we live before mobile phones and a lot of things? But I do know that the service is an incredible deal in Thailand. Reportedly in Latin America as well. Compare to the U.S. where it has become a luxury service only rich people can use often plus if you don't leave a big U.S. style tip the driver might assault you or vandalize your house.

You don't get it. If I get an order with a problem the form that used to be there to report is now missing. There is nothing on the app to report such a "glitch" as you call it. Are you just here to hurl personal attacks? Seems so, so again, go away troll.

Yeah I do need cashless but can pay cash for the time being.

I've fallen into Grab (food) "customer service" hell!
I don't see how resolving the issue of the 300 baht is related to my version of the app totally BLOCKING getting help via live chat, phone, or normal form complaints like missed items. I see no form to complain about the flippin' software.

I've fallen into Grab (food) "customer service" hell!
Hi there special prig, I said I would pay it. I didn't say when. Then soon after I saw the info about that form. I wasn't linking paying and using that form as you assumed. You being special prig seem to ASSUME a lot of things to fuel your insults. I thought to send that form BEFORE paying as it was related to paying double before paying double. I do now see your point about paying double BEFORE filing that form which I didn't before see as necessarily related I don't know that it is or it isn't and neither do you. The form has a field to explain the problem and it is a related issue in either case (actually paying double or being demanded to pay double when it shouldn't be). it still seems silly to pay double in order to fit closer into their form, but yeah I might do. Because of that form, I have delayed doing either right away. I might pay first, then file it. I may file it first.

As I already said I would be happy to eat the 300 baht IF it actually fixed things. But no evidence that it would.

Yes its a tad FUBAR. To add insult to injury I was getting free delivery on my plan with cashless but now fully charged.
-
I've fallen into Grab (food) "customer service" hell!
As explained before there is more than one problem. The false payment demand of course but also complete blockage fronl help at live chat, app calls, and even reporting mundane comments problems like missing items in future.

Hi there. The problem order was a cashless debit card order. Its fair to assume the driver knew it was prepaid. But now their system is demanding that I pay again. They will still.send cash orders but have blocked cashless orders until I pay.
