The former SS head who is very credible as a former two time state governor is only saying based on his insider knowledge of that agency, he sees a real risk that payments could be interrupted because of the Musk chainsaw. He's not saying it will definitely happen. He's speaking as a public service to suggest to recipients that have the ability to keep a cash reserve in case it happens. I posted this mainly as an American expat in Thailand issue around people using the import 65K a month method. Many such people get their SS benefit sent directly to their Thai bank account. I am really asking, believe it or not, IF there is a month or more that is interrupted (but repaid later) would that ruin extension applications or not? As the requirement is a MONTHLY thing. My current understanding is that there is zero tolerance for missing even one month. I do know there is tolerance for odd specific dates of funds arrival. For example a month where the benefit comes in two times at the end of a month where the second remittance is actually the next month's funding. That's OK with immigration. But completely missing months? I don't think that's OK.

I wonder what percentage of the magas actually believe the still repeated already totally debunked BIG LIES from both Trump and Musk that there are many millions of people over 100 and much older getting benefits. Why do they keep repeating that lie? Trump I can believe is stupid enough to believe it. Is Musk also that stupid? It certainly doesn't inspire confidence that Musk and his big balls boys are in charge of SS now. It's appalling actually.

American Teen Goes Missing in Phuket, Parents Rally Online Support

Cheeky of them to describe him as sheepish. Look, so he's got some unusual problems. Also it sounds as if the family dealt with the horse incident in good faith, as painful and embarrassing as that must have been to face. There is no good reason not to wish him and his family well, -
Could Trump's plan fail in a spectacular fashion?
Jingthing replied to spidermike007's topic in Political Soapbox
I'm somewhat conflicted on this questiom. Decent pro-democracy, anti imperialism, anti Putin, anti oligarchy/autocracy people across the world are now boycotting USA products, tariffs or no tariffs. Should decent Americans do the same? Should we be actively buying NOT American? This gets into the government vs. the people. Is Russia Putin? I think largely so. Is the USA Trump? I think much less than Russia Putin. Even though Trump won, I think only a tiny minority voted for such insanity as helping Russia murder Ukrainian civilians and threatening to annex Canada. -
Could Trump's plan fail in a spectacular fashion?

The democrats plan brought us the best economy in the first world. Trump has managed with his chaotic idiocy no plan to blow that up in a matter of weeks.- 343 replies

Why? Because of the massive "chain saw" style firings, encouraged resignations, loss of normal transition training mechanisms, and loss of institutional knowledge held by long term staff. Be clear -- he is not predicting PERMANENT CUT OFF of benefits. So no fear mongering here. He's WARNING that a delay could happen because of the chaos that has indeed been caused. IF this interruption happens it would be the first time in social security history. Why am I posting this here? Because I know many American retirees use the income method, importing 65K baht of more monthly to meet their annual retirement extension financial requirements. So what happens if the payment is delayed for just one month (it could be much longer) so that your next payment is double covering the missed month? Will Thai immigration accept that? My understanding is that they require monthly remits and missed months even just one are not allowed. On top of the immigration issue of course the former head is warning people to save up their money to weather a delay. Hopefully not too many expats are living that close to the bone, but clearly some are. The news story. Social Security payments could be interrupted as DOGE causes 'system collapse' | Fortune www.fortune.com/2025/03/03/social-security-payments-benefits-interruption-doge-cuts-system-collapse-retirement-disability/ Social Security payments could suffer interruption soon as DOGE causes ‘system collapse,’ former commissioner warns—‘start saving now’ The snopes analysis. Ex-head of Social Security claimed DOGE actions could cause payment interruptions. Here's context | Snopes.com www.snopes.com/news/2025/03/07/social-security-collapse-doge/

Trump isn't scared of Putin. He literally loves Putin and they share the same (heinous) goals.

Payment of Pattaya Electric Bill
Jingthing replied to jas007's topic in Jobs, Economy, Banking, Business, Investments
I have an automatic deduction from a Thai bank account set up that's been working seamlessly for many years. However recently it didn't and without warning my power was cut off because of some glitch months earlier. I managed to get help to get an online account set up and fixed the problem quickly to get the power back on same day. I want to continue with the autopay but I'm not confident yet it will continue to work well. -
Kremlin Slams Macron’s Nuclear Comments as ‘Confrontational’

Well not quite so cleanly. Trump is Putin's poodle for sure, but Xi's not so much, Iran is a weird one. A close ally of Russia, but Trump is correctly hostile to them. Strange bedfellows. On the other hand with moronic actions like killing USAID Trump is handing big wins to China on a platter. -

You clearly don't watch Russian state t.v. Putin will be fine with a PAUSE if it leaves him in an advantageous position for later actions. Putin is on clear record as not believing Ukraine even exists as a separate nation. So the minimum goal for him is a puppet government. Not neutral. A puppet of Russia. Ideally Putin wants to swallow Ukraine entirely. If you think Moldova and the Baltics aren't at risk, you've been hopelessly inflected with propaganda. Also some of the stans and even Poland and beyond if Europe lets its guard down. WW3 is much at risk by NOT defending Ukraine than to cave to Putin, -

How is it dreaming to face up to the horrific reality that under Trump the USA is now actively helping war criminal dictator Putin and actively attacking western democracies such as Canada? When talking to magical thinking Trump worshipping magas on such matters, there are multiple layers. Do they REALIZE yet this disgusting anti-American realignment has happened? If so, do they actually SUPPORT it? Tucker Carlson has openly come out as supporting it. I consider such people as well as Trump to be traitors. -

That all you've got? Dude, if you deny that Trump is on Putin's side in this war, you're not living in a reality based world.
