The Illusion of Liberty: How the Anti-Woke Right Betrayed Its Own Principles
I do consider myself "woke," and believe I have been for at least 40 years." I deny the negative meaning because it is not the way I define "woke," and it is not the way I am. The negative connotation of "woke" is being used by people who are not in favor of the characteristics that "woke" means, which can be summed up in one word: empathy. I don't really care if anyone criticizes me. I listen, and if I agree with their criticism, I will change my actions. If I disagree with their criticism, I note it but don't act on it.

Wow! I agree with everything you said above. Communism is not " about a working man getting a fair share of the profits from his labour." In communism, people contribute to society the best they can, and all the assets of society are shared equally, regardless of race or gender (or trans gender). I didn't know about the other historical "facts" about Marx. He means nothing to me. I only associate him and the term "Marxist" with communism. Thanks for the history lesson. So, are you indeed, as you've said, a "Marxist"? And if so, what does that mean?

That isn't the definition of "woke" being used. No wonder you have no idea what is going on. 🙄 That is the definition of "woke" that Merriam-Webster and I use. What definition do you use? Of course I know what's going on. "...aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts and issues...'" is the very definition of "woke." 😐

No I'm a Marxist. Wow! After that response, I had to look at your original post again to see what you said. You said, "No, I don't think about you at all." If you are indeed a Marxist, I would think you'd be a communist and would think about me and all people in everything you do. Where am I getting this wrong?

Why so many conspiracy theorists and what to do about them
Isn't it possible that the assertion that there are many conspiracy theories is a conspiracy theory designed to make us stop believing what we see on TV news and read on social media? 😮

You say this because you are not "woke." You can support both sides of an argument. One side of an argument is not necessarily absolutely correct, and the other side wrong. If you believed that, you would not understand the existence of trans people. You'd think there are only two genders, and nothing in between. Woke people, like me, do have opinions. I express them here on AseaNow forums all the time. That doesn't mean I agree with everyone, especially you, but I do believe I understand where you are coming from and why you hold the opinions you do. i do support your right to express them. In my opinion, no one should hit anyone else in any sport, boxing included. What kind of "sport" is it where you intend to hurt someone else? So, no, men shouldn't hit women or other men, and women shouldn't hit men or other women as some kind of "sport." I'd only agree with hitting someone else in self-defense, and then men could hit both women and men, and women could hit both men and women.

I absolutely disagree... Woke people care about both the person being hit in a boxing match and the person hitting them. Woke people care about children being indoctrinated in schools by not telling them the truth about history and forbidding them from learning about certain subjects. Woke people care about almost everything. Their sentiment is "in whatever you do, do it with care for other people."

"Anti-woke" people don't care about anyone but themselves. "Woke, " according to the online Merriam-Webster dictionary, means: "aware of and actively attentive to important societal facts and issues (especially issues of racial and social justice)". So it's "woke" people who care about you.

Tipping
Tipping in Thailand used not to be expected. Now, especially in fancy restaurants in large cities, it probably is. I usually tip. When I do, I leave between 10% and 20%.

Advice?? Bank accounts on death
I do this for my Thai wife, even though my bank account is only in my name, which Immigration requires to use it to get one-year stay extensions. I give her the right to withdraw money from it over the counter at the bank. To do this, you have to have their signature recorded on your account. At least this works for my savings account at Krungthai (Ayudhya) Bank.

What is the purpose of life?
None. Life has no purpose, nor does anything else. Any purpose we assign to anything is just a product of our intellect, not something innate.

London Marathon Upholds Trans Inclusivity Despite Supreme Court Ruling
Did you even read the headline of the story ? Did you not read it or did you read it and not understand it ? I did read the headline but not the entire article. I thought I understood it. I thought it meant that the London Marathon will admit trans people in spite of a recent UK Supreme Court Ruling declaring there on only two, distinct genders: male and female. Is my understanding wrong on either of these?

Brave Woman Brings Dead Cobra to Hospital After Venomous Bite
Actually, did she bring the snake treatment? I'm not sure what you're asking above. Did you mean "...bring the snake in FOR treatment"? Or did you mean "...did she bring the snake in to assist in her own treatment?" Either way, she killed the snake, so she was the more deadly of the two.
