Democracy works best when all, or at least most, of the citizens allowed to vote are well-informed about the issues they are being asked to vote on. That's not the case in my home country, the USA, and I don't think it's the case in Thailand either. The next best type of government, IMO, is a republic, where you elect representatives to vote on the issues. That's what we have in the USA, and even this is not working well. There is too much misinformation being circulated now.

Although I'm a far-left liberal and do not agree with a lot of these decisions of our Supreme Court, I don't think the Chief Justice did anything wrong. All the justices discuss the cases before them, present their opinions and arguments, and, of course, hope the others agree with them. I don't see anything unusual or alarming about this.

I have no idea , Trump is the only G.O.P person that I know of , I haven't heard of any others For the first time I can remember, I agree with you! I think the majority of Republicans still support Trump, but he is moving out of favor with a growing number of them. I think many support him just because they know of no alternative. I have no idea who could replace him at the top of the party. Does anyone else have an opinion on this?

The Democrat Party is not far left. I am far left, and I wish the Democrats would adopt more leftist views, but they don't, I suspect, because they know they are not popular with the majority of the voting public.

The "laid down their weapons" refers to the proposed "ceasefire" in Gaza, not that either side would give up all its armor or soldiers. But I do agree that if Hamas could do it, they would drive every Jew out of the area that used to be called Palestine. Just as I believe if the Zionists have their way, they'd go that to the Palestinian Arab Muslims. This conflict will continue as long as there is not a two-state solution, and that would have to be forced upon both sides by their allies. As I wrote before, I don't think that's likely, so I think this conflict will go on for a long, long time...

I think that the actions of any individual can't be assumed to be accepted by the majority of the group he is in or claims to be in. An easy example of this is believing all immigrants are bad because some commit crimes or that all Republicans are bad because of Trump. I'm a far-left liberal, and I don't believe the assassination of a political opponent is ever warranted, even Trump.

Well, we've got about 50 days until the US election, when we will find out who won. If Trump loses, I assume there will be fewer (but not zero) reasons for anyone to try this again. If Trump wins, we'll have about two months until he's sworn in and then at least four years (or probably more, if Trump gets that changed) for more attempts. So, I'm sure there will be more forums on this topic for all of us to post our opinions.

I'm not a fan of the 2nd Amendment in the US Constitution, at least how it's been interpreted, but I think if you use it's original meaning, this man should not be charged with any crime. He was trying to protect the US from the destruction of it's government.

If Hamas laid down their weapons and returned the hostages, there would continue to be genocide of the Palestinians by the Israelis. If Israelis laid down their weapons, Hamas would return all the hostages, and both sides' allies would enforce negotiations for a two-state solution. The talks would eventually fail, and then there would continue to be attempts at genocide from both sides. This conflict will never end.

What's needed is no Israeli bias and no Palestinian bias but a two-state solution bias. Both parties are guilty of horrible crimes, and both want complete control of the area that used to be called Palestine. They will have to be forced into agreeing to a two-state solution by allies from both sides.

Another horrific waste of money and resources. We should be trying to fix or at least lessen all the problems we've caused on this planet before working on technology focussed on taking us to another one.

My definition of "Zionist" is someone who wants to make all of the area that used to be called "Palestine" into an exclusively Jewish state, and to do so would require the expelling (or at least denying citizenship) of all Arabs who claim to be Palestinians. My definition of "Hamas" is someone who wants to make all of the area that used to be called "Palestine" into an exclusively Arab Muslim state, and to do so would require the expelling (or at least denying citizenship) of all Jews who claim to be Israelis. In other words, I believe neither Zionists nor Hamas want a two-state solution. They both want it all for themselves. Hopefully, cooler heads will prevail, and eventually, a two-state solution will be agreed upon, but right now, that looks very unlikely.

I've lived in Thailand for about 20 years and have used both Marriage and Retirement requirements to extend my visa for another year. The only difference I've seen is that the one-year extension based on Marriage requires a lot more paperwork than one based on Retirement.

I did not read the article, but I understand that Musk will be there to explain things, not to be on trial. They want him to explain things because they (some of the UK Parliament) are worried about the algorithm's results and how they are being used.

Although I wholeheartedly agree that Republicans generally try to make it very difficult to vote, I don't understand why transgender people would have any more difficulty in getting an ID with their photo on it than anyone else. In the USA, driver's licenses usually have photos, and you can easily get other IDs that have photos. Also, when you vote (or do anything else), there shouldn't be any laws that say you must wear the "correct" gender-specific clothing. For example, if your driver's license lists you as "male," and your photo on it is that of a typical man, there shouldn't be any problem with you showing up to vote (or anywhere else) dressed as a female with lipstick, eye makeup, and long hair. And, if your driver's license lists you as "male," and your photo on it is that of a typical woman, who cares as long as you can recognize the face of the individual as being the one in the photo?
