Israel is at War - General discussion (pt3)

If that's what you call defending your people... I would also call him Netanyahu. There is a simple name for people like him, but I've been forbidden to use it anymore on this forum. -

Yes, at first, a really good proposal is not acceptable to either side because it requires both sides to compromise on their demands. That's what negotiations are all about. I do play the guitar, but I just looked up the chords to John Lennon's "Imagine," and they are too complex for me. The three most accomplished pieces I play are "California Dreaming," "Rebel, Rebel," and "Third-Rate Romance," all of which might be appropriate when presenting my proposal. -

It is worth repeating because other proposal versions, like the current UN one, are continually put up. They contain different conditions. Repeating these is like tapping you on the shoulder and reminding you that these are the conditions that need to be in the proposal, not any new combination of conditions. -

Yes! Netanyahu is likely to agree to a ceasefire in exchange for hostages, and then after he gets all the hostages, he proceeds to go into Rafah. -

They are well worth repeating. I think when all this is done, you'll find out my recommendations will be the ones that are finally enacted. -
Any proposal like this needs to have ALL the following conditions: - Permanent ceasefire and withdrawal of all IDF troops; - Exchange of all hostages and prisoners; - UN-enforced talks with the goal of creating a two-state solution; - A UN-sponsored peacekeeping force on-site to help with food distribution, building restoration, and enforcement of all conditions.

An immediate release of all hostages should be conditional on an exchange for all prisoners, and the ceasefire should be permanent and include a withdrawal of all IDF troops. -

I don't think the IDF has "Created a New Standard for Urban Warfare." Decimating cities and villages while committing genocide has been done since Genghis Khan. -

And Hamas is not going to release the hostages without a ceasefire. And I believe the longer the ceasefire, the more hostages will be released, but not ALL the hostages will be released until there is a PERMANENT ceasefire and withdrawal of the IDF. -

My hands are down. I don't think either side will do anything "unconditionally." -

Hundreds, maybe a thousand or more. Most of these will be children. -

A permanent ceasefire, withdrawal of all IDF troops from Gaza, an exchange of all hostages and prisoners, and a commitment to sit down and create an agreement for a two-state solution would be parity. -

I just saw on CNN that the Israeli proposal is an exchange of 40 hostages for 700 prisoners, but there was no mention of a ceasefire or any other conditions. And it was reported that they didn't expect to receive a response from Hamas in a couple of days. -

The last number I saw on these two was six million in WWII and 1,200 on Oct 7. Are you telling me there's never been any series of events that has caused a loss of Jewish life more than 1,200 since WWII? That's hard for me to believe. But, still, 1,200 is a lot. Of course, the death toll now in Gaza is about 30,000... -

Well, I don't know about the numbers and how they compare with other massacres of Jews, but I will say that the massacre of Palestinians in Gaza also has to rank up there as one of the worst massacres. -

And, to go around and around again, of course I know why Gaza has been invaded. It's primarily revenge for the Oct 7 attack, and also part of a longer-term effort to gain control of all the land in question. -

Yes! That's exactly what this is. That's exactly what Oct 7 was and now the IDF in Gaza are - Israel and Palestine just going around and around... -

This conflict did NOT start on Oct 7, 2023! You can call that the start of a new "war," or you can, as I prefer, call that just the continuation of an 80-year-old war. It's a war to gain control of all the land in question. -

Yes you did, stop lying, they are nowhere in the post referenced I don't even know what you're talking about. You accused me of forgetting about the hostages. I was responding that I haven't forgotten about them, and I've heard on CNN that they are part of a new proposal. -

I'm not forgetting about them. Israel seems to have, except I've heard hints on CNN that a new proposal from Israel is being presented that would include the exchange of about 60 hostages for a ceasefire (how long, I don't know) and probably other things from both sides. We'll just have to wait and see if that's true, and if it is, what the details are and if Hamas agrees to it. -

No, it's not "baiting at all. It's correcting your statements. For example, above, you say, "...if they were not there, then they would not be harmed..." Yes, and if the IDF were not there, they would not be harmed either. These Palestinians have a right to be there. Gaza is their home. The IDF has no right to be there except, in their mind, they have the right to engage in a revengeful invasion of Gaza, looking for anyone they consider to be Hamas to kill. -

Yes! Exactly! But I don't believe this "war" started on Oct 7, or at least Oct 7 was just another stage of an 80-year-long war. If there had been no problems for the past 80 years, or even the past year, I'd agree that all this started on Oct 7. But it didn't, -

I don't agree with that. This is not ALL the making of Hamas. I consider ALL the massacres that have occurred over the past 80 years or so. -

All my posts make the points I want to make. You may not consider those points valid, but others on this forum and I do. I can't entirely agree with most of your posts, but I usually can see the point you are trying to make. And, of course, that is usually something to denigrate Palestinians and/or extoll Israelis.
