  1. You / me / or anyone else cannot draw any conclusions from the above. But I will give you something to ponder. I joined the original tax thread when it was up to about Page 85. I said on that thread that the RD could put a halt to all the speculation by issuing a blanket statement, along the lines of " For people who are tax residents, from DTA Countries, carry on as normal, nothing has changed for you " Over the course of 2024, there has been video after video by people like Mr Hart, expatthaitax and a few others. Cannot recall anything coming from the RD. And whilst I am not going to critice the above 2 in anyway, and I believe that they are acting in the best interest of the expat community, they are not the RD, who are the entity that really matters. We are now in 2025, the tax filing season has started and still not a word from the RD. I could speculate, but I will refrain. I'll just say, that I will not be surprised if something drops soon that may well cause a few ripples. The silence from the RD has been deafening, and sometimes that is not always a good thing.
  2. A classic chicken and egg scenario. DTA's are International Agreements and are separate from Thai Domestic Policy, and there is very good reason for not incorporating these into domestic Law. The UK trying to leave the EU and issues with the ECHR are 2 recent examples of why it is not always a good thing to incorporate International Treaties into Domestic Law. Keep them simple, Agreements that can be cancelled by either Party, rather than getting them tied up in domestic law, where they can become a difficult to get rid of, if the need arises.
  3. Thank you. That is all I have been saying Thailand can put out a blanket requirement for retiree tax residents to report of all remittances to Thailand. Here is Mr Hart. I actually agree with Mr Hart and Thailand, for whatever reason is being sucked into the OECD He is absolutely correct, to be concerned, to be outraged, but it is happening. I do not know the reason why, but things are happening behind the scenes that will impact us people.
  4. Probably. British Citizenship was getting thrown about like raindrops in a dowpour for quite a long time.
  5. I never mentioned CRS. I asked you a simple question. If I was a retiree resident alien in the US, would I need to file a tax return in the US. You dont need to explore it, I already know the answer. The question I am asking you. Is what you have against Thailand doing what the US already does. Furthermore, to cut out your whataboutery Show me in any DTA with Thailand that says an income of any type or description is not reportable if it is remitted to Thailand, should a Thai Government Agency request / mandate it.
  6. Yesterday Reeves's boat race at PMQ's That look when you finally realise it is all going Pete Tong.
  7. Starmer piling in to " Get it sorted " Spineless wretch of a human being
  8. Because it is a Political issues. Politicos of red and blue hues were **** scared of upsetting a minority. If it wasn't for Journalists and so called far right lunatics, it would never have been seen the light of day. Hanging is too good for them, including those that denied, tried to cover up and turned a blind eye.
  9. If I was a retiree Resident Alien of the good ol USofA. Would I have to file a tax return and include my worldwide income ? That is a rhetorical question, no need to answer. The question for you is. Why are you so vexxed about Thailand possibly doing the same thing ? Do you need to take the fifth on that ?
  10. I'm not disputing you, the tax guy you spoke to or the tax guys that I have spoken to, or the information that I have read with my own eyes. At the end of the day ( hopefully soon ) it is what the RD says, goes.
  11. When is that going to happen ? Any idea of a timeframe ? I'll worry about Thailand taxing worldwide income when they announce a start date.
  12. I have never seen this mentioned or discussed outside the pages of AN. Which is also the information that can be read on the pages of tax professional websites. It is also the information that is being given out by more than 1 tax professional consultancy. But flies directly in the face of the information I was given on Monday from an RD Office. Hopefully we will.get a definitive answer when forms get published on the RD website.
  13. Right, so you completely understand the part on KYC and the relevant parts on tax evasion and tax compliance Which pertains to, funnily enough, remtted incomes.
  14. You want to try that one again ? It took Nazir Afzal in 2011 to ( hopefully ) grab Starmer by the throat and get him to act. You might also want to read this https://news.sky.com/story/grooming-gangs-scandal-timeline-what-happened-what-inquiries-there-were-and-how-starmer-was-involved-after-elon-musks-accusations-13285021 Starmer is a weak, spineless, useless article. His father made the biggest tool in the world. The Country is just about to find out how much of a tool he is.
  15. Can you remember back when the RD said that they were going to update the PND 90/91 to include expat tax residents ? What if they dont, and just introduce a brand new, shiny PND92, specifically for non working, tax resident expats. Which would probably be easier 😀😀 And perhaps you should have a read of this, its only 67 pages, not counting the embedded external links. https://www.rd.go.th/fileadmin/user_upload/FATCA_File/crs/Thailand_CRS_Guidance_280823.pdf
  16. Yes, and someone's opinion is not fact Try reading the actual CRS documentation. You will find it on the RD website. Which just might be construed as fact and not opinion.
  17. The thread isnt about race riots, its about convicted grooming gang members still walking about UK streets. You might ask yourself why Labour would be dead set against a National Inquiry with the powers to arrest people who ignored, covered up or turned a blind eye to what was going on. Some light reading that may explain it https://labour25.com/labour25/
  18. Right so how many expats that are not retirees are tax residents of Thailand ? Which is what this thread is mainly about. All the old codgers who are resistant and terrified of change from ' This is the way its always been done ' Trying to convince themselves that change will never happen in Thailand.
  19. There is a big document on CRS on the RD website. It explains the whole process, including the various reporting chains I suggest that people read it.
  20. The majority of retiree expat tax residents in Thailand are using cryptocurriencies ? Neeranam, your having a laugh.
  21. Yumthai, I personally could not care less whether I have to file anything or not. There appears to be many people that are in denial that things are changing, from a tax perspective in Thailand, and the genie isn't going back in the bottle. What happened, or didn't happen in the past is gone. What happens going forward is what counts. In 2023 CRS in Thailand was restricted to From Jan 2024, the following were added The reporting chain means that banks ( FI's ) have to report to the RD by June 2025 for tax year 2024. The RD need to consolidate and forward their report by September 2025. How does the RD consolidate and forward their reporting obligations under CRS, If tax resident foreigners are not reporting their remitted income ? The banks ( FI's ) can report remiited income. The RD needs to ensure that those remittances are not evading tax and are tax compliant. So big changes will be happening sooner, rather than later, and it is something that we need to prepare for.
  22. Ha. I didn't know that was trial date. I think the outcome of this trial will be getting a lot of media airtime.
