Police Colonel Arun Wachirasrisukanya, Deputy Commander of the Natural Resources and Environmental Crime Division (NRECD), along with Police Colonel Winyu Jaemsai, Superintendent of Division 2, and officials from the Department of Industrial Works, conducted the operation in Moo 9, Ko Khanun Subdistrict, Phanom Sarakham District. Initial investigations revealed 0.5 tonnes of shredded electronic waste contaminated with heavy metals, an additional 1 tonne of heavy metal-contaminated products, and 10 tonnes of separated hazardous waste. These items were seized as evidence. Authorities linked the incident to an earlier Customs Department operation, which intercepted 10 containers illegally imported into Thailand. Declared under false documentation, the 256 tonnes of electronic waste were smuggled in by a company operating in Phanom Sarakham District. Further investigations revealed a similar case on 5 January 2025, when a factory in Sri Maha Phot District, Prachinburi Province, was shut down by the Department of Industrial Works. That facility was found to have relocated its previously seized electronic waste to the Chachoengsao factory. At the scene, police identified Mr Li, 55, a Chinese national and factory manager, and Mr Guo, 43, also a Chinese national and the owner of the hazardous materials. Neither had the necessary permits to store such substances. Hydraulic equipment was deployed to extricate the victims. At the scene, a white Isuzu pickup truck registered in Sakon Nakhon, fully loaded with oranges, was found overturned with damage to its front-right side. Two men inside, aged approximately 30-45, were injured and trapped in the vehicle. Rescuers managed to extract them and rush them to Dan Sai Crown Prince Hospital. About 100 metres away, a silver Toyota Vigo pickup truck registered in Bangkok was found with its front completely wrecked. The driver, identified as Mr. Chetta aged 52, from Khlong Luang District, Pathum Thani, was found deceased inside. Rescue teams had to use hydraulic tools to remove his body, which was later sent to Dan Sai Crown Prince Hospital. Initial investigations revealed that the deceased, who sold cakes at the Khlong Thom Market, was driving home to Dan Sai District. Upon descending a hill near Ban Huai Tad, he lost control of his pickup, crossed into the opposite lane and collided with the orange delivery truck traveling in the opposite direction. Ms. Wanadee, 32, a resident of the building, reported hearing a noise resembling something falling on the roof of the first floor. Assuming it to be insignificant, she didn’t investigate until someone from below called to inform her that “Por,” the victim, had fallen. She rushed downstairs to find him dead. Another witness, Ms. Praipraisri, 31, identified herself as the victim’s girlfriend. She stated that they lived together in the building and revealed that he suffered from a heart condition. The victim worked the night shift, finishing at 06:00, but no signs of distress were apparent before his death. “He was usually cheerful and never mentioned any problems that worried him,” she added. Upon arrival, officers found the woman, described as heavily built, gripping the outside railing of the bridge, sobbing heavily. Police and rescue personnel attempted to calm her down. While she was momentarily distracted, they managed to pull her to safety using a safety rope to secure her waist. The woman, identified as "Bee" , was too emotional to provide much details, only weeping during questioning. A local tuk-tuk driver, Mr. Chonlong, shed light on the situation. He revealed that Bee had been searching for her husband, a fellow tuk-tuk driver based at the Suwannaphum bus terminal. She had been looking for him since the previous day and discovered his vehicle parked at Suwannaphum Hospital earlier that day, but her husband was nowhere to be found. Mr. Chonlong added that Bee had argued with her husband prior to his disappearance, even physically assaulting him, leaving visible bruises. Frustrated and hurt, her husband reportedly left home, telling others he was traveling to Bangkok with his two children from a previous marriage. However, Bee was unaware of these plans, leading to two days of fruitless searching. It is believed that her despair stemmed from feelings of neglect and jealousy over her husband spending time with his children without informing her. The driver, Mr. Warong, 32, was unconscious inside the vehicle and was rescued by emergency personnel before being transported to Siriraj Hospital. Authorities are reviewing CCTV footage from the area to determine the exact cause of the collision. Preliminary investigations suggest the motorcycles were travelling against traffic when the crash occurred and the car traveling at speed overturned after the collision.
