The crash occurred at approximately 14:20 on the bypass road opposite the Pak Phraek Municipal Office in Mueang District. Police from Mueang Kanchanaburi Station, along with paramedics from Phaholpolpayuhasena Hospital, rushed to the scene following a report of the incident. Upon arrival, rescue workers from the Pitakkanchan Foundation were managing traffic as medical personnel transported the injured child to Phaholpolpayuhasena Hospital. The lifeless body of the motorbike rider, identified as Mr. Thanapoom Khwanyuen, was found in a pool of blood near a U-turn point. His red-grey Honda Wave 110 motorbike lay overturned nearby. Around 30 metres from the crash site, police found a white Honda Jazz with damage to its front left side, including a shattered windshield. The driver, Mr. Suthat, a teacher at a nearby school, stood waiting to give his statement. Visibly shaken, Mr. Suthat told police that he was driving from the city centre towards his school, located about 500 metres from the crash site. He claimed the motorbike abruptly cut across his path, leaving him no time to brake before colliding with it. The impact caused the rider to hit the car’s windshield before falling to the ground. Relatives of the deceased arrived at the scene shortly after being notified, breaking down in tears upon learning of the fatality. The family identified the victim as Mr. Thanapoom, who had picked up his granddaughter, Jirah, from a local childcare centre. Medical examinations revealed Mr. Thanapoom had suffered fatal head injuries. The child, who sustained serious arm and leg fractures, remains in critical condition. Police will interview Mr. Suthat and other witnesses while reviewing CCTV footage to determine the exact cause of the crash. Legal proceedings will follow based on the findings of the investigation. -- 2025-01-25

  4. Picture from responders. Sixty-two students from Tipparat Wittaya School in Koh Samui were rushed to hospital with symptoms of food poisoning during a Scout camping activity. The incident occurred on the morning of 24 January, following reports of severe abdominal pain and diarrhoea among the participants. At 09:00, the Narenthorn Emergency Medical Centre at Koh Samui Hospital received an alert from the school. Authorities immediately coordinated with the district public health office, local government, and multiple medical facilities, including Koh Samui Hospital, Wattanapat Samui Hospital, Bandon International Hospital, and Bangkok Samui Hospital, to provide urgent assistance. The affected students, who were experiencing vomiting, diarrhoea, and fatigue, were treated on the school’s football field before being transferred to medical facilities. Fifty students were admitted to Koh Samui Hospital, seven to Wattanapat Samui Hospital, and five to Bandon International Hospital. Among the patients, one student was in a critical condition and required intensive care. Eighteen others were classified as moderate cases, needing intravenous fluids and monitoring, while 43 students with milder symptoms were treated with medication and allowed to recover at home. The Scout camp, which involved 409 students, ran from 22 to 24 January. Meals were prepared by hired cooks, with some dishes made by students themselves. A male student hospitalised at Koh Samui Hospital revealed that he had eaten a packed lunch and chicken porridge the previous day. He began experiencing symptoms around 05:00, including severe abdominal pain, diarrhoea, fatigue, and difficulty breathing. Dr. Songyot Chayaninprameth, Deputy Director of Koh Samui Hospital, confirmed that emergency cases were stabilised and investigations were underway to determine the cause of the outbreak. Dr. Nathakorn Dumcha-om, Director of Tipparat Wittaya School, stated that students began showing symptoms the previous evening. Initially, teachers provided basic care as symptoms were mild. However, the situation escalated by the following morning, with more students reporting severe discomfort. Parents were promptly informed through group messaging and individual calls from school staff. Sanan Sida-kaew, a parent, expressed relief after learning her daughter’s condition was stable. Dr. Songyot added that public health officials would conduct a thorough investigation to identify the source of the contamination and prevent further outbreaks. -- 2025-01-25

  7. Pictures courtesy of Matichon Authorities in Nonthaburi, Thailand, responded to a late-night incident involving a man allegedly under the influence of cannabis who caused significant damage to his home and neighbouring properties. The episode occurred in Bang Bua Thong district, where police were called at approximately 00:30 to address the situation. The suspect, a 42-year-old man referred to as Mr. Namfa was found naked and in a state of chaos, destroying furniture and household items within his two-story townhouse. He reportedly punched a hole in the ceiling and climbed onto the roof, damaging his own home and adjacent properties. Officers from Bang Bua Thong Police Station detained Mr. Namfa and brought him to the station to calm down. Following negotiations, his father agreed to compensate neighbours for the damage. No formal charges were filed, and Mr. Namfa was released after discussions concluded. Mr. Namfa admitted to being a daily cannabis user for over five years. He claimed that he normally felt relaxed after smoking and would sleep, but on this occasion, he used a mix of two types of cannabis without blending it with tobacco. This, he said, led to a level of intoxication that left him “unaware” of his actions. “I didn’t hallucinate or feel paranoid. I just wanted to clear out the house because it felt like I was going to move soon. I didn’t mean to destroy anything,” he stated, adding that he regretted smoking pure cannabis and vowed to quit, having promised the police chief he would try to stop. Mr. Namfa’s sister, Ms. Pu, described the night as particularly distressing. “I heard loud noises and asked him what he was doing because our father was asleep. This has happened before, but this time was worse,” she said. According to Ms. Pu, Dduring the incident, he threw household items down the stairs and even at the police officers who arrived. It took nearly 20 officers two hours to bring the situation under control. “He knows he loses control, but he refuses to seek help. We live in fear, not knowing what might happen next. I hope the authorities or a relevant organisation can intervene and get him the treatment he needs,” she added. -- 2025-01-24

  9. Picture courtesy of ThaiRath. An incident unfolded near the Surin Islands, when a Russian father allegedly threw his young son from a speedboat, leading to fatal injuries from the boat’s propeller. Police at Kuraburi Station received a report at approximately 16:00 on January 23, from staff aboard a tourist speedboat. The report detailed an incident in which a father threw his son overboard near Koh Ra, around 200 metres from the island and 4 kilometres from Kuraburi Pier in Phang Nga province. When police arrived at the pier, they learned that the victim, identified as Lukas, a Thai-Russian dual national from That Phanom district, Nakhon Phanom, had been rushed to Kuraburi Chaiyaphat Hospital by a local foundation. The boy succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival. The suspect, identified as the boy’s father, 45-year-old Mr. Artem Bugorskiy, was detained by the boat staff and handed over to police at Kuraburi Station. He is accused of intentionally causing his son’s death. According to the boat’s captain, the speedboat, carrying 33 passengers (17 Thais and 16 foreigners) and five crew members, departed the Surin Islands at around 15:00. As the boat approached Koh Ra, Mr. Bugorskiy reportedly stood up, walked over to Lukas, and lifted him by the legs and torso. Witnesses said he pushed the boy overboard from the left side of the boat near the bow. Mr. Bugorskiy then jumped into the water after his son. The captain immediately stopped the boat and circled back to assist. While the crew managed to rescue the boy, Mr. Bugorskiy refused all offers of help and declined to reboard the boat. Lukas was found floating in the water with severe injuries to his face and head, believed to have been caused by the boat’s propeller. Despite the crew’s attempts to administer first aid, his injuries proved fatal. Police have gathered witness statements and evidence, which strongly implicate Mr. Bugorskiy as the perpetrator. Given his foreign status and the risk of flight, he has been charged with murder, so was denied bail. Through an interpreter, Mr. Bugorskiy denied the allegations during questioning. Legal rights were explained to him, and he remains in custody pending further investigation. -- 2025-01-24

At the site of the crash on Tiwanon Road (inbound towards Pak Kret Intersection), authorities found a yellow Isuzu municipal garbage truck, licence plate from Nonthaburi, parked by the roadside. The rear of the truck was laden with garbage. The deceased, later identified as Ms. Nipathorn Ngamprasith, 39, a vendor by profession, was found on top of the rubbish pile at the rear of the truck. Her injuries were severe, including head trauma, fractured arms, a right leg severed at the knee, and serious lacerations. Nearby, a red Honda Wave motorcycle, licence plate from Bangkok, was overturned with extensive damage to its front. The severed right leg was found beneath the motorcycle, with blood pooling across the road. The truck driver, Mr. Surachet Timlek, 50, stated that he was slowly driving along the road collecting garbage. As he reached the location, he suddenly heard a loud crash from the rear of the truck, which even shook the front of the vehicle. The garbage collectors had fortunately disembarked and were standing beside the vehicle at the time, avoiding injury. "I was shocked and frightened when I saw the motorcycle rider had died," said Mr. Surachet. "I immediately contacted my supervisor and the vehicle's insurance company." Another garbage worker, Mr. Paisan Noilersit, 42, described the collision. "I saw the motorbike speeding towards us before crashing into the centre of the truck. 15. Picture from responders. A crash in Phitsanulok left a luxury Lamborghini sports car reduced to scrap metal in the early hours of the morning of January 23. The incident occurred at approximately 01:30 on Singhawat Road, near the Krua Luksao Kungkaew restaurant in Ban Phlai Chumphon, Mueang District. Police and rescue teams arrived promptly at the scene following a report from Pol Sub Lt. Sali Duangupra of the Phitsanulok City Police Station. The crash involved a green Lamborghini Huracán Evo, a supercar valued at over 20 million baht. The car was destroyed, but the driver, identified from his ID card as 36-year-old businessman Mr. Anawat, was not found at the scene. His wallet, containing tens of thousands of baht in cash, was left in the wrecked car. The other vehicle, a black Isuzu D-Max two-door pickup truck, also collided with the front of the restaurant, sustaining significant damage. Its driver, Mr. Ekaphong, a 32-year-old from Maha Sarakham, suffered facial and shoulder injuries. Rescue personnel administered first aid before taking him to Phitsanuvej Hospital. A witness, 60-year-old Ms. Thongpoon, who was resting in the restaurant at the time of the crash, described the shocking incident. “I heard a loud crash and rushed out to see the Lamborghini driver walking away from the wreck, unharmed, and calling someone to pick him up. He left the scene before anyone could stop him,” she recounted. The restaurant also suffered extensive damage, including shattered glass, a broken pillar, and a collapsed roof. Ms. Thongpoon added that no one has come forward to take responsibility for the damages, and she intends to notify the owner to file a formal police complaint. The cause of the accident remains unclear and is under investigation by the police. This is not the first high-profile crash involving Mr. Anawat. In 2024, he survived another serious incident when his Porsche Panamera, worth approximately five million baht, crashed into a roadside pole and caught fire. Coincidentally, the site of the previous incident is not far from the location of this latest crash. The investigation is ongoing and potential charges are expected as police continue to gather evidence. -- 2025-01-24

  17. Picture from responders. At approximately 03:30 on 23 January, police from Bang Pu Police Station in Samut Prakan responded to a fire at a grocery shop located in Soi Bang Pu Municipality 123. Firefighters from Bang Pu Municipality deployed two fire engines to the scene to tackle the blaze. The property, a two-storey house with the ground floor operating as a grocery shop, was engulfed in smoke as residents attempted to extinguish the fire using multiple portable fire extinguishers. Firefighters and locals worked together to pry open the locked electric shutter door, which had malfunctioned. Once inside, they managed to bring the fire under control. The fire caused significant damage, including the complete destruction of an electric tricycle, damage to a black Mitsubishi pickup truck (registration from Bangkok), and the loss of goods and shelving inside the shop. One individual sustained minor injuries from glass shards but was able to drive themselves to the hospital after receiving first aid from rescue volunteers at the scene. Mr. Ampol Saisuwan, the 78-year-old homeowner, explained that the house is occupied by four people. He was alerted to the fire by his daughter, who lives in an adjacent property. She reported hearing an explosion before noticing the fire and rushing to wake him. The fire appeared to have started in the area where he had been charging the battery of an electric tricycle overnight, a routine practice for him. Authorities suspect an electrical short circuit caused by the charging process may have triggered the fire. Police documented the scene and interviewed the homeowner as part of their investigation. -- 2025-01-24

  19. Picture from responders. A man has narrowly escaped death after being lost in the jungle for eight days, surviving on nothing but water while immobilised by a broken hip and leg. Mr Neramit Luangaromfa, District Chief of Sai Yok in Kanchanaburi Province, revealed that authorities were alerted to the case on January 22. Village headman Chamnarn Saengpetchon reported that Mr Chinawat, a 31-year-old resident of Ban Thung Kang Yang village, had ventured into the forest within the Sri Nakarin Dam National Park alone to forage on January 16 and subsequently went missing. Family members and locals had been searching for Mr Chinawat since his disappearance, but to no avail. Upon receiving the report, Mr Neramit coordinated efforts involving the village headman, national park officials, municipal protection units, the Pitakkarn Foundation rescue team, relatives, and residents to launch a deeper search into the mountainous forest. On the evening of January 22, search teams discovered a plastic bag containing food hanging from a tree and Mr Chinawat’s parked motorcycle, but there was no sign of the man himself. Believing he had wandered deeper into the forest, search operations were paused due to darkness, with plans to resume the following morning. At 08:00 on January 23, the search intensified. A 20-person ground team combed the dense forest while another group of 15 used four-wheel-drive vehicles to patrol nearby trails, hoping Mr Chinawat might emerge on foot. At 10:30 the ground search team found Mr Chinawat lying injured and exhausted in the mountainous forest. Though weak and dazed, he was still able to communicate. He was found with a broken leg and fractured hip, injuries sustained when he fell from a tree while foraging. Despite his severe injuries, Mr Chinawat survived for eight days by drinking water, with no food available. Rescuers transported him out of the forest and handed him over to the Pitakkarn Foundation’s emergency medical team, which rushed him to Somdet Phra Piyamaharaj Rommaniethaket Hospital. Doctors have reported that Mr Chinawat is in a stable condition but will remain under close medical observation. -- 2025-01-24

  21. Picture from responders. At approximately 13:00 on 23 January, a fatal collision occurred on Bang Bua Thong-Suphan Buri Road in Nonthaburi province. A factory worker, identified as Mr. Somjet 45, was killed when his motorcycle was struck by a 22-wheel lorry as both vehicles were turning into a company entrance. Police officers from Bang Bua Thong Police Station, rescue volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, and a forensic medical team responded to the scene. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim’s body trapped underneath the lorry along with his white and black Honda motorcycle. CCTV footage captured the moment of the collision. The footage showed the motorcycle travelling on the left-hand side of the road as the lorry was making a left turn. The lorry failed to see the motorcyclist, leading to the fatal crash. A company security guard who witnessed the incident explained that the motorcyclist was returning to work after a lunch break and was about to turn left into the company premises when the lorry, also making a left turn, collided with him. The impact caused the motorcycle and the rider to become trapped under the lorry. The lorry driver, Mr. Apiwat 35, stated that he was turning left to enter the company to collect goods. He claimed to have activated his indicator and checked his surroundings before making the turn but did not see the motorcycle. He believed that the motorcycle was in the vehicle’s blind spot, which caused the collision. Police have recorded statements from the lorry driver and witnesses at the scene. The driver maintains that he did not see the motorcycle. Authorities will conduct further questioning and have sent the victim’s body to the Institute of Forensic Medicine. -- 2025-01-24
