Picture from responders. Residents of a South Pattaya condominium were left stunned and terrified when a massive 4-metre-long python was discovered hiding within the building. Pattaya City firefighters responded to a call from a condominium housekeeper, who reported spotting the enormous snake on the ceiling above the swimming pool’s bathroom. Efforts to capture the python initially proved unsuccessful, as it managed to slip away and hide inside a wall column. The incident escalated when the snake reappeared, prompting officials to carefully break through the wall to retrieve it. After a tense 30-minute operation, the python was successfully captured. Upon inspection, the snake was found to be a female, measuring over 4 metres in length and weighing approximately 60 kilograms. It was safely secured in a sack before being released back into its natural habitat. The capture brought relief to the condo’s residents, who had been anxious about the snake’s presence. Many praised the firefighters for their skill and determination in handling the situation safely and effectively. -- 2025-01-24

Picture from responders. A crash in Phitsanulok left a luxury Lamborghini sports car reduced to scrap metal in the early hours of the morning of January 23. The incident occurred at approximately 01:30 on Singhawat Road, near the Krua Luksao Kungkaew restaurant in Ban Phlai Chumphon, Mueang District. Police and rescue teams arrived promptly at the scene following a report from Pol Sub Lt. Sali Duangupra of the Phitsanulok City Police Station. The crash involved a green Lamborghini Huracán Evo, a supercar valued at over 20 million baht. The car was destroyed, but the driver, identified from his ID card as 36-year-old businessman Mr. Anawat, was not found at the scene. His wallet, containing tens of thousands of baht in cash, was left in the wrecked car. The other vehicle, a black Isuzu D-Max two-door pickup truck, also collided with the front of the restaurant, sustaining significant damage. Its driver, Mr. Ekaphong, a 32-year-old from Maha Sarakham, suffered facial and shoulder injuries. Rescue personnel administered first aid before taking him to Phitsanuvej Hospital. A witness, 60-year-old Ms. Thongpoon, who was resting in the restaurant at the time of the crash, described the shocking incident. “I heard a loud crash and rushed out to see the Lamborghini driver walking away from the wreck, unharmed, and calling someone to pick him up. He left the scene before anyone could stop him,” she recounted. The restaurant also suffered extensive damage, including shattered glass, a broken pillar, and a collapsed roof. Ms. Thongpoon added that no one has come forward to take responsibility for the damages, and she intends to notify the owner to file a formal police complaint. The cause of the accident remains unclear and is under investigation by the police. This is not the first high-profile crash involving Mr. Anawat. In 2024, he survived another serious incident when his Porsche Panamera, worth approximately five million baht, crashed into a roadside pole and caught fire. Coincidentally, the site of the previous incident is not far from the location of this latest crash. The investigation is ongoing and potential charges are expected as police continue to gather evidence. -- 2025-01-24

Picture from responders. At approximately 03:30 on 23 January, police from Bang Pu Police Station in Samut Prakan responded to a fire at a grocery shop located in Soi Bang Pu Municipality 123. Firefighters from Bang Pu Municipality deployed two fire engines to the scene to tackle the blaze. The property, a two-storey house with the ground floor operating as a grocery shop, was engulfed in smoke as residents attempted to extinguish the fire using multiple portable fire extinguishers. Firefighters and locals worked together to pry open the locked electric shutter door, which had malfunctioned. Once inside, they managed to bring the fire under control. The fire caused significant damage, including the complete destruction of an electric tricycle, damage to a black Mitsubishi pickup truck (registration from Bangkok), and the loss of goods and shelving inside the shop. One individual sustained minor injuries from glass shards but was able to drive themselves to the hospital after receiving first aid from rescue volunteers at the scene. Mr. Ampol Saisuwan, the 78-year-old homeowner, explained that the house is occupied by four people. He was alerted to the fire by his daughter, who lives in an adjacent property. She reported hearing an explosion before noticing the fire and rushing to wake him. The fire appeared to have started in the area where he had been charging the battery of an electric tricycle overnight, a routine practice for him. Authorities suspect an electrical short circuit caused by the charging process may have triggered the fire. Police documented the scene and interviewed the homeowner as part of their investigation. -- 2025-01-24

Man Survives 8 Days Lost in the Jungle with Broken Hip and Leg A man has narrowly escaped death after being lost in the jungle for eight days, surviving on nothing but water while immobilised by a broken hip and leg. Picture from responders. A man has narrowly escaped death after being lost in the jungle for eight days, surviving on nothing but water while immobilised by a broken hip and leg. Mr Neramit Luangaromfa, District Chief of Sai Yok in Kanchanaburi Province, revealed that authorities were alerted to the case on January 22. Village headman Chamnarn Saengpetchon reported that Mr Chinawat, a 31-year-old resident of Ban Thung Kang Yang village, had ventured into the forest within the Sri Nakarin Dam National Park alone to forage on January 16 and subsequently went missing. Family members and locals had been searching for Mr Chinawat since his disappearance, but to no avail. Upon receiving the report, Mr Neramit coordinated efforts involving the village headman, national park officials, municipal protection units, the Pitakkarn Foundation rescue team, relatives, and residents to launch a deeper search into the mountainous forest. On the evening of January 22, search teams discovered a plastic bag containing food hanging from a tree and Mr Chinawat’s parked motorcycle, but there was no sign of the man himself. Believing he had wandered deeper into the forest, search operations were paused due to darkness, with plans to resume the following morning. At 08:00 on January 23, the search intensified. A 20-person ground team combed the dense forest while another group of 15 used four-wheel-drive vehicles to patrol nearby trails, hoping Mr Chinawat might emerge on foot. At 10:30 the ground search team found Mr Chinawat lying injured and exhausted in the mountainous forest. Though weak and dazed, he was still able to communicate. He was found with a broken leg and fractured hip, injuries sustained when he fell from a tree while foraging. Despite his severe injuries, Mr Chinawat survived for eight days by drinking water, with no food available. Rescuers transported him out of the forest and handed him over to the Pitakkarn Foundation’s emergency medical team, which rushed him to Somdet Phra Piyamaharaj Rommaniethaket Hospital. Doctors have reported that Mr Chinawat is in a stable condition but will remain under close medical observation. -- 2025-01-24

Picture from responders. At approximately 13:00 on 23 January, a fatal collision occurred on Bang Bua Thong-Suphan Buri Road in Nonthaburi province. A factory worker, identified as Mr. Somjet 45, was killed when his motorcycle was struck by a 22-wheel lorry as both vehicles were turning into a company entrance. Police officers from Bang Bua Thong Police Station, rescue volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, and a forensic medical team responded to the scene. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim’s body trapped underneath the lorry along with his white and black Honda motorcycle. CCTV footage captured the moment of the collision. The footage showed the motorcycle travelling on the left-hand side of the road as the lorry was making a left turn. The lorry failed to see the motorcyclist, leading to the fatal crash. A company security guard who witnessed the incident explained that the motorcyclist was returning to work after a lunch break and was about to turn left into the company premises when the lorry, also making a left turn, collided with him. The impact caused the motorcycle and the rider to become trapped under the lorry. The lorry driver, Mr. Apiwat 35, stated that he was turning left to enter the company to collect goods. He claimed to have activated his indicator and checked his surroundings before making the turn but did not see the motorcycle. He believed that the motorcycle was in the vehicle’s blind spot, which caused the collision. Police have recorded statements from the lorry driver and witnesses at the scene. The driver maintains that he did not see the motorcycle. Authorities will conduct further questioning and have sent the victim’s body to the Institute of Forensic Medicine. -- 2025-01-24

Police Captain Jaroon Duangwiangkham of the Nong Prue Police Station, along with rescue workers from the Sawang Boriboon Foundation, responded to the incident at a house in Soi Boon Sampan 11/1, Moo 10, Nong Prue Subdistrict. The body of the deceased, identified as Mrs. Bongkhun Chatunapalak, was discovered behind the property. She was wearing a pink nightgown and a blue towel and had used a nylon rope tied to the iron fence of the house to hang herself. It is believed she had been dead for at least four hours before being found. Beside the body, police found a walking aid and a small torch. The discovery was made by Mr. Nirapan Atchaharn, 60, a contractor who had been hired by the woman's daughter to renovate the house over the past 10 days. Mr. Nirapan explained that he and his team arrived as usual to continue their work on the ceiling. While walking towards the back of the house, he was horrified to find Mrs. Bongkhun hanging from the fence. He immediately called the authorities. Mr. Nirapan noted that the deceased had been suffering from cancer and often appeared frail. Despite her condition, she was seen moving around the house just the day before and had even asked for help carrying some items. An initial examination by police revealed no signs of foul play. The body has been sent to Bang Lamung Hospital for further examination. Authorities suspect the woman may have been overwhelmed by her illness or other personal issues, leading to her decision. Police have stated that they will question the deceased's relatives to better understand the circumstances and to determine the exact cause of her death. Picture courtesy of SiamChon In the early hours of January 23, a 44-year-old motorcycle rider narrowly escaped serious injury after being caught by a dangling communication cable in Pattaya’s Soi Kopai . The incident left Mr. Koson Kongsila, a ride-hailing service worker, with painful injuries to his neck and face. The incident occurred around 01:35 while Mr. Koson was returning home after dropping off a passenger. According to his account, he was riding behind another motorcycle when he noticed the rider in front swerving to avoid an obstacle. Despite his efforts to brake and steer away, Mr. Koson could not avoid the hazard. The dangling communication cable, hanging in a loop from a utility pole, caught him around the neck and face, causing him to lose control and crash. Fortunately, Mr. Koson was traveling at a low speed, which prevented more serious consequences. Following the incident, Mr. Koson coiled the problematic cable and secured it to the base of the utility pole to prevent further injuries to others. He then visited the local police station to file an official report and sought medical treatment for the friction burns and abrasions caused by the cable. Mr. Koson has since called on local authorities and relevant agencies to inspect the area and address the issue, noting that similar hazards may exist in other parts of the city. He also urged those responsible for maintaining communication cables to take accountability and implement preventative measures to avoid future incidents. -- 2025-01-24

Man Electrocuted in Bathroom at Buriram Repair Shop An incident at a rice harvester repair shop in Buriram has claimed the life of the 47-year-old workshop owner and local government secretary after he was electrocuted while taking a shower. Picture from responders. An incident at a rice harvester repair shop in Buriram has claimed the life of the 47-year-old workshop owner and local government secretary after he was electrocuted while taking a shower. The incident occurred on 22 January in Moo 7, Ban Kan Luang, Nong Yai Phim Subdistrict, Nang Rong District. Police Lieutenant Chalermchai Naenthara of Nang Rong Police Station received a report of the fatality and coordinated with the Siam Ruamjai Pu In Rescue Unit to investigate the scene. The victim, Mr. Kamol Amornthamwut, a rice harvester repair shop owner and secretary of the Nong Yai Phim Subdistrict Administrative Organisation (SAO), was found lying on his back in the bathroom attached to the workshop. He was unclothed, and there were signs of electrical burns on his body. A workshop employee, Mr. Natthawut, 25, stated that Mr. Kamol had mentioned he was rushing to attend a funeral in the village and decided to take a shower earlier than usual. After over an hour had passed without him emerging from the bathroom, employees noticed a burning smell and saw smoke coming from the room. Upon hearing no response to their calls, they broke down the door and discovered the body. Further accounts revealed warning signs of electrical issues prior to the incident. An 18-year-old woman, the girlfriend of one of the employees, said she had used the bathroom earlier that afternoon and noticed a burning smell. Upon inspecting behind the toilet, she thought it might have been caused by burning insects. When leaving the bathroom, she experienced a slight electric shock after pouring water on her feet. She intended to report the incident but was distracted by the workshop’s busy atmosphere. Initial investigations suggest that the electrocution was caused by faulty wiring in the bathroom. Police suspect the wiring had been damaged by a sharp edge of the corrugated metal used to construct the bathroom walls, exposing the copper wire and allowing electrical current to leak. Authorities are continuing to investigate to confirm the exact cause of the incident. -- 2025-01-24
