Waree Soisonsa of the Muang Lopburi Police Station received a report of a man in a drug-induced frenzy who had set his house on fire in the Thongphet Community, Nong Muen Village, Khao Sam Yot Subdistrict, Lopburi. Officers, including Pol. Lt. Chanint Janwimol, crime prevention inspector at Muang Lopburi Police Station, and fire units were quickly dispatched to the scene. Firefighters extinguished the fire, but the wooden house was completely destroyed, leaving only the foundations. She added that the entire neighbourhood lived in fear of his outbursts. Upon arrival, the team found Mr. Somchai (name changed), 39, the woman’s boyfriend, in a state of deep distress. He had discovered his girlfriend, Ms. Niphaporn (surname withheld), unconscious after using a pillowcase to hang herself from the iron bars of their bedroom window. Mr. Somchai had taken her down before rescuers arrived, and the emergency team quickly attempted CPR to revive her. Unfortunately, Ms. Niphaporn passed away shortly after, leaving her family in profound grief, with relatives collapsing in tears at the scene. In his statement, Mr. Somchai explained that his girlfriend had been under intense stress after falling victim to an online jade auction scam, where she lost more than 50,000 baht. Adding to her distress, she was battling depression and was on medication for substance abuse recovery. He had tried to reassure her, promising to help recover the lost money, but the emotional toll proved too much for her to bear. Late that night, Mr. Somchai entered the bedroom and was horrified to find his girlfriend had hung herself. He immediately intervened and called the rescue team for help, but despite their best efforts, they could not save her. Police Lieutenant Yatthiphong Chiamphuak from Nong Prue Police Station has ordered that Ms. Niphaporn’s body be transferred to Bang Lamung Hospital for storage and sent for an autopsy at the Police General Hospital’s forensic institute.
