Picture courtesy of Matichon. Authorities in Rayong have raided a Chinese-owned restaurant in the Nikom Phatthana district after receiving intelligence that it was employing a large number of illegal foreign workers, including Chinese and Myanmar nationals, to serve Chinese clientele. The operation was conducted by the Immigration Police Division 3, under the direction of Police General Phanumart Boonyalaksakul, Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau, and Police Major General Piti Nithinantseth, Deputy Commissioner of the Immigration Bureau. They acted on a tip-off from a confidential informant regarding the illegal employment at the restaurant, which is named Huixiang Restaurant, located in the industrial zone of Nikom Phatthana. Upon arrival, officers discovered a Chinese man, Mr. Guoqing, aged 30, and a group of Myanmar nationals working inside the restaurant, serving Chinese customers. Mr. Guoqing was responsible for taking orders, assisting customers, and collecting payments. In the kitchen, the officers found a Chinese chef, Mr. Wang, aged 48, preparing meals for the customers. Both Mr. Guoqing and Mr. Wang had entered Thailand on tourist visas and were unable to provide work permits. Further investigation revealed that the restaurant’s owner, Ms. Jing, a Chinese national, had employed Mr. Guoqing, Mr. Wang, and the Myanmar workers illegally. Ms. Jing, however, was found to have returned to China at the time of the raid. The officers also discovered that Chinese customers were paying for their meals using Chinese banking systems, including WeChat Pay and Alipay, as well as a Thai bank account in Ms. Jing’s name. As a result, Mr. Guoqing and Mr. Wang were arrested, along with four Myanmar workers, on charges of “working without permission or working beyond their permitted rights” in Thailand. The group was taken to Nikom Phatthana Police Station for legal processing. Police Major General Chairit Anurith, Commander of Immigration Police Division 3, stated that while the charge carries a fine, those arrested will have their permission to stay in Thailand revoked and will be blacklisted, barring them from re-entering the country. They will also be deported to their home countries. The Immigration Bureau continues to enforce strict measures to monitor, investigate, and prevent illegal activities, including the employment of foreign workers without proper authorisation. -- 2025-04-11

Picture from responders. A road crash near Roi Et Airport on the afternoon of 9 April, resulted in the death of a 43-year-old man after the pickup truck he was driving lost control and collided with a roadside post. The incident occurred at approximately 16:00 on the Roi Et–Phon Thong Road, just before the traffic lights in front of the airport. According to initial reports, the pickup truck driver veered off the road at high speed and slammed into a large directional signpost with significant force to wrap it around the post. Emergency response teams from Nakhon Saket EMS, Asok Thawatch EMS, the Phra Ratchawachirawitthayakom Foundation, Roi Et Highway Police Rescue, and Thawatchaburi Hospital were dispatched to the scene. Rescue personnel found the driver trapped inside the mangled remains of the vehicle and had to deploy hydraulic cutting equipment to extract the body. The driver, later identified as Mr. Thawatchai Thani, was pronounced dead at the scene. He sustained fatal injuries as a result of the impact and was alone in the vehicle at the time of the crash. The crash site was cordoned off while authorities conducted an initial investigation into the cause of the incident. Weather conditions were reportedly clear at the time, and the road surface dry. Police are continuing their inquiry into what may have led to the driver losing control of the vehicle, with speed under consideration as the most likely cause. The force of the impact left the vehicle severely damaged and caused significant destruction to the road signage structure. Road crews were later dispatched to carry out temporary repairs and ensure the area was safe for traffic. This incident adds to a growing concern about road safety in Roi Et province, where a number of serious accidents have occurred in recent months. Authorities are expected to review safety measures and signage placement in the area as part of their ongoing response. -- 2025-04-11

Picture from responders. A deputy investigative inspector was shot dead in a brazen attack in Narathiwat province on the evening of 9 April. The assailants then set fire to a car at the scene in what authorities believe was the work of insurgents active in the region. At 18:55, local authorities were alerted by Mr. Sukri Yakariya, the village head of Pholang Moo 5, To Deng sub-district, that a vehicle was on fire on a road near Batu Bue Nae, a satellite village of Pholang. In response, Police Captain Hilemy Anusasnabut, deputy investigator at Su-ngai Padi Police Station, and Police Colonel Mataha Moona, the station chief, rushed to the scene with a team of police and military personnel. Upon arrival, officers found a sedan engulfed in flames. Firefighters were dispatched and took more than twenty minutes to bring the blaze under control. After extinguishing the fire, investigators discovered the body of Police Lieutenant Colonel Ammarit Apamaka, deputy inspector of the investigative division at Narathiwat Provincial Police, lying near the roadside. He had sustained multiple gunshot wounds from an unidentified firearm. His body was transferred to Su-ngai Padi Hospital for a full autopsy. The area was immediately sealed off to allow for further forensic and investigative work. Early reports suggest the attack may have been carried out by local insurgent elements, as the area is known for the activity of violent separatist groups. Authorities are continuing to investigate and have vowed to pursue those responsible for the deadly ambush. -- 2025-04-11

Picture from responders. A fatal road crash occurred late night on 9 April, when a motorcyclist lost control and crashed into an electricity pole on Pattanakarn Road near Wat Khao Sao Thong Thong in Nong Prue, Bang Lamung district, Chonburi. The incident has once again raised concerns among local residents, who are urging authorities to install clear warning signs at what they describe as a “cursed curve” known for repeated deadly crashes. Rescue personnel from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation were dispatched following a report to their radio centre at 21:45. Pol. Sub-Lt. Sanya Jaichan, deputy investigator at Nong Prue Police Station, also responded to the scene. Upon arrival, emergency responders found a man, estimated to be between 25 and 35 years old, lying in a pool of blood at the base of the pole. He was dressed in a black t-shirt and long denim jeans but carried no identification. The man had suffered head injuries and a broken neck and was in critical condition. Despite attempts to resuscitate him, he succumbed to his injuries shortly after. Near the body, officers discovered a severely damaged grey Honda Forza motorbike bearing a red temporary registration plate (Sriracha Police Station). Eyewitnesses from the nearby community reported that the motorcyclist was travelling at high speed when he lost control navigating the bend and struck the power pole with significant force. They said repeated requests have been made to authorities for warning signs or safety improvements, but no action has yet been taken. Pol. Sub-Lt. Sanya stated that CCTV footage from the surrounding area will be reviewed to determine the exact cause of the crash. The deceased has been transported to a local hospital morgue where authorities await contact from family members to claim the body. Residents continue to call for urgent safety measures to prevent further tragedies at this dangerous bend. -- 2025-04-11

Picture courtesy of Khoasod. A major breakthrough by Cyber Police has led to the arrest of the financial manager behind one of the country’s largest illegal online gambling networks, which had an annual turnover exceeding 100 million baht. The raid, carried out on 10 April, followed an operation ordered by Pol Lt Gen Trirong Phiewphan, Commissioner of the Cyber Crime Investigation Bureau (CCIB). The operation was led by Pol Maj Gen Kritchan Bamrungrattanasot, commander of Cyber Crime Division 4, alongside several senior officers. Armed with a warrant from Khon Kaen Provincial Court (No. 144/2568), officers stormed a residence in Ban Ped Subdistrict, Mueang District, Khon Kaen Province, arresting 27-year-old Mr Chaiyara, who was named in an arrest warrant issued by the Chiang Mai Provincial Court (No. Jor 631/2568). Items seized included a car, three mobile phones, a tablet, a computer, and a bank account book with an ATM card. According to Pol Lt Gen Trirong, the crackdown follows a government directive to target online gambling networks, which are believed to exploit the public and particularly young people. Investigators from Division 4 had been monitoring a site known as “Pixxel”, which offered a wide range of gambling services, including slots, fish-shooting games, card games, baccarat, hi-lo, pokdeng, dragon-tiger, live casino, lottery, and sports betting. The site reportedly had over 10,000 members and an annual turnover exceeding 100 million baht. Mr Chaiyarat was identified as a key financial operator and beneficiary within the network, based in Khon Kaen. After gathering substantial evidence, police obtained warrants not only for Mr Chaiyarat but also for seven other individuals believed to be involved in the operation, acting as administrators and operating mule accounts used for handling gambling funds. During the raid, Mr Chaiyarat was taken into custody. Police have since arrested six additional suspects connected to the network, with one individual still at large. In questioning, Mr Chaiyarat confessed to operating the “Pixxel” gambling platform for over three years, primarily overseeing its financial operations and managing transactions via various bank accounts. He now faces multiple charges, including: • Operating or promoting gambling through electronic media without authorisation; • Conspiring with others to commit money laundering offences; • Engaging in money laundering activities. -- 2025-04-11

Minivan Driver Brutally Assaulted in Dispute Over 300-Baht Commission in Pattaya Picture courtesy of NBT. Picture courtesy of NBT. Chaos erupted shortly after midnight on Second Road in Pattaya when a heated dispute between minivan drivers turned violent, leaving one man severely injured and prompting emergency responders and bystanders to flee the scene for safety. At 00:15 on 10 March, Police Lieutenant Colonel Chaowalit Suwanmanee, Deputy Inspector of Pattaya City Police Station, received a report of a violent altercation. He promptly informed Police Colonel Anek Srathongyu, Superintendent of Pattaya City Police Station, and dispatched officers to the scene along with rescue personnel from Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Foundation. Upon arrival, officers encountered a chaotic and volatile scene. Two groups of individuals were still attempting to assault each other. The injured man was identified as 35-year-old Mr. Tinnakorn Nueathong, who had suffered a head injury and multiple bruises across his body. Rescue workers began administering first aid, but the situation escalated when members of the opposing party charged at the injured man once more, forcing medics, tourists, and nearby workers to flee in fear of being caught in the violence. Despite efforts to restrain the aggressors, Mr. Tinnakorn was again kicked and beaten while being treated. Police eventually managed to bring the situation under control, allowing rescuers to safely transport the victim to a nearby hospital. Mr. Boonmee Mahawan, 34, one of the individuals involved in the altercation, told police that he and Mr. Tinnakorn both work as minivan drivers and had longstanding tension over boastful behaviour and a 300-baht commission that Mr. Tinnakorn allegedly refused to share. The dispute flared up while the men were drinking beer at their usual roadside parking area. Witnesses stated that Mr. Tinnakorn approached the group aggressively, shouting and demanding to know who had a problem with him before challenging Mr. Boonmee to a fight. According to Mr. Natthapong Wongsarat, 35, he attempted to calm the situation, but Mr. Tinnakorn escalated matters by threatening the group. The confrontation quickly descended into a violent brawl. Mr. Tinnakorn later told police that he had come to the minivan stand to “clear the air” with his colleagues, but the conversation failed, and he was set upon by several individuals, leading to his injuries. A concerned citizen called the police to intervene. Footage captured by a local resident showed the violent brawl erupting in full view of stunned onlookers and tourists, many of whom ran for cover as the scene descended into chaos. Despite efforts by bystanders to intervene, the two parties showed no sign of stopping, with Mr. Tinnakorn eventually overpowered and seriously assaulted. Even as rescue teams tried to treat him, his attackers returned to continue the assault, prompting medics to flee for safety. Police have since summoned both parties involved to Pattaya City Police Station for questioning and have pledged to proceed with legal action impartially and fairly for all involved. -- 2025-04-11

The incident took place around 08:00 on 10 April in front of a petrol station at kilometre marker 56+600 in Bang Kaew Subdistrict, Mueang District. Police Lieutenant Phaiwan Sriphana of the Mueang Samut Songkhram Police Station responded to the call alongside rescue personnel from the Sawang Benjatham Foundation. At the scene, a lorry with a trailer registered in Ratchaburi was found with its cabin completely detached and mangled beyond recognition, reduced to twisted metal. The driver, 24-year-old Mr Natthaphong was found in critical condition, suffering from a compound fracture to his left leg and multiple injuries across his body. He was reportedly disoriented and unable to recall the incident. Inside the wrecked cabin were his 26-year-old girlfriend, Ms Kannipa and a young boy believed to be around four years old. Both were also critically injured. The child was found with head injuries, abrasions, and pain in his right leg. All three were rushed to Somdet Phra Phutthaloetla Hospital for emergency treatment. Approximately 30 metres from the impact site, an 18-wheel lorry with a tractor unit registered in Bangkok was found tipped onto its side with the rear section lifted from the ground. The driver, 30-year-old Mr Nopparat sustained a laceration to his left wrist. Mr Nopparat stated that he had been travelling from Chonburi to deliver goods to Phetchaburi Province. He had pulled over to the roadside to take a photo to confirm his location with his company. Moments later, his stationary lorry was struck violently from behind. He blacked out briefly from the impact and awoke in a daze before discovering the extent of the crash. Initial investigations suggest that Mr Natthaphong may have momentarily fallen asleep at the wheel, causing him to plough into the rear of the parked 18-wheeler at high speed. Police are reviewing CCTV footage and will conduct further interviews with both drivers and any relevant witnesses to determine the exact cause of the crash. -- 2025-04-11
