I'm 25kms NW of Korat central and it's getting warm. Only been here since Nov 23 and lowest night temp was around 23 Celsius. Highest day temp 42 so far... 39 yesterday and probably the same today. It's alright if there's a slight breeze. It just makes ice cold beer taste that much better.

How far behind is the Philippines compared to Thailand ?
Korat Kiwi replied to Harsh Jones's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
I have done some good dive trips around Bohol and found the nearby beaches on Panglao to be very clean and family friendly. Infrastructure leaves a bit to be desired but it's manageable. I didn't mind it and the immigration side is a bit easier than Thailand. Like has been said, they come up with great ideas but frequently fail to finish them. It's like they just lose enthusiasm or change government's. I prefer Thai food hands down. Not fussed at all with most of the Philippines food.... Including Jolibee! Didn't mind their San Miguel or Beer na Beer and they do a nice drop of dark Rum. (Old Captain is better than Tanduay). But at the moment I'm happy in Thailand. Should things change dramatically then the Phils could be an option. -
Thai man’s arm severed outside liquor store after smoking dispute
Korat Kiwi replied to webfact's topic in Pattaya News
I'd think you'd have to be quite skilled to take off an arm although in certain parts of Africa it's relatively common where there are 'troubles'. I even recall when I was working in Bougainville a true story of a guy who cut off his brothers arm with a machete. Why? Because during the 'uprising' his brother went to the opposition side and burnt down his house. Nasty stuff but retribution is swift over there. I hope they catch these maniacs. -

Help! I can't operate my Canton remote control anymore!
Korat Kiwi replied to Furioso's topic in Audio Visual AV
There are thousands of remotes on Lazada however trying to find one that duplicates the functions or is on the same frequency will be the challenge. As you said replacement is available from Europe (Czech Republic?) and postage can be more than cost of item. But this may be the safest option to ensure you get a remote that works. -

Thanks George.... probably the funniest thing I've seen on AN for quite some time. Sent a copy off to my siblings in NZ. Possibly make national news back there! -

My brother had an implant done in Chiang Mai quite a few years ago. He couldn't wait for the healing phase to be over and went back to NZ. He finally went to a NZ dentist who was confused by the implant. A few calls later and the NZ dentist said all was good. The Thai implant was top of the line and the NZ dentist had to wait 2weeks to get new equipment and complete the job. The NZ dentist was very impressed with the Thai workmanship. So there you have it.... Go and ask questions. I'm sure you'll get good service.

Russian couple’s dine and dash attempt exposed in Phuket restaurant

They should make a spectacle of these dirt bags. It not good to just say apologies and all is forgiven. What will these perps learn from that? Be more careful next time you rip off a business? This is beyond belief.- 143 replies

Dammit... when is the government going to to a drive to teach kids to swim? Obviously sorely missing in this country. Even a lot of adults can't swim hence why so many people drown as no one can jump in to save them. Sad waste of young lives. Naturally with all this hot weather, kids want to cool down. Not realising how deep the pond is... Parents are probably working somewhere else. Unfortunately it won't be the last of this type of tragedy.

What to do with old school books? The same as you do to witches.... Burn them. (Monty Python Holy Grail) -
