  1. Ok just got the Snowy New England IPA out of the freezer so it's properly cold. Very cloudy beer... Just like craft beer. Initial taste: Strong on hop flavour Follow thru: lingering bitter taste. Verdict: It's ok but not something I'd drink everyday. It's a 5% beer and doesnt feel like it would kick you in the arse at all. I'd probably drink this on special occasions. It's got more body than the Tawandang IPA but considering it 79 baht vs 60 baht I'd expect so. Those that like craft beer would enjoy this.
  2. I was going to say 'the spoils of war'. but that would be incorrect. If the troops aren't equipped for the task, what do you expect them to do in order to get the job done? I don't blame the guys, it's the politicians that need the kick in the backside. The Aussie government certainly puts more emphasis on it's Defence Force and arms them appropriately to do the task. Even benefits to the troops once they've completed there time far outweighs what kiwi troops get. Look what the NZ Police are currently going thru. More are going to jump the ditch as they are sick of the crap conditions and pay.
  3. I've got a Wise account (From when I was in NZ) and with it I have opened accounts for AUD, THB, NZD and USD. I can transfer funds between accounts as I see fit. So if say THB has dropped in value, meaning I get a better exchange rate from NZD then I can do the transfer. It's done online in seconds (via my cellphone). The debit card allows me to use the ATMs for cash in appropriate currency without paying additional exchange rates. But I haven't deposited THB into/onto the account. Maybe that could be the hurdle?
  4. Just bought a can of Snowy IPA and put it in 5he fridge for later. Checked the fill date 15 Feb 24...hope it's going to be OK. At 79 baht a can I don't particularly want to throw it out but it's getting close to it. It was in the fridge at Lotus'sss (Not that that guarantees anything). Looking forward to see if it suits my taste buds.
  5. What a load of <deleted>. Given its small size NZ has contributed whenever and wherever it can. Somalia, Bosnia, Iraq, Afghanistan, East Timor to name a few and ongoing support to NATO missions throughout the world. The NZ government may not have supported its military to the extent that it could have, I would add. But soldiers/airmen or sailors have always done the best they could given what they had. (Beg steal and borrow does come to mind).
  6. Yesterday in Non Thai (Korat) it was fantastic. Very dark sky's with a lot of wind/thunder/lightening and a bit of rain. The best thing was that the temp dropped from 49+ down to 28-29. It was liveable again....bordering on cool. Funny but 28 is a heatwave in NZ... Everyone would be at the beach.
  7. China Eastern also fly out of NZ. We were supposed to fly with them when returning to Thailand but Air NZ cocked up a joining flight so used Singapore Airways. From all accounts China Eastern are quite good. Reviews have been positive and people I know that have flown with them were impressed. Ain't no Emirates but for Economy class it's good.
  8. I'm sure all the BGs would be able to spot the fakes from across a room. Whereas the LBs could probably spot it from the other end of a street! Me... I don't wear gold. Prefer silver wearing any jewellery, but gave that up years ago.
  9. Yeah, good luck with that one. Have they actually seen how much single use plastic this country uses? It would be mind boggling. Just in my small town the amount is phenomenal. Local morning market, plastic bags everywhere. The NZ government banned single use plastic bags a few years ago. It's good to see paper bags back in the Supermarkets. But NZ is very small population wise. I can't see this happening here... too many mindsets to change and probably no enforcement of the rules.
  10. My God.... She had legs that went all the way up!
  11. Yeah, what's with that man-tail/pony tail thing? Probably wearing a wife-beater singlet to boot! Sorry I had to laugh at your description, because it's so apt a lot of the times!
  12. No worries Bob, Don't go riding your bike mate... too many cops about!
  13. Yes there are other roads that can be used Bob, but in the OP it was asked if he can use his 160cc bike on the motorway from Pattaya to Bangkok. Your initial reply was 'Yes' That I now believe is partially true. However no motorcycle (Either scooter or larger) can enter the toll way system... which is part of motorway 7.
  14. I agree 100% re those stinky fish. They fair pong.
  15. Bob? Scooters and motorbikes aren't allowed on the motorway. There is even signage stating such.
  16. Just to add to my last... You wouldn't want to risk your life on that motorway. Drivers of pickups, cars and trucks are crazy on that road. Most wouldn't see you and that's not good for your health. Even on a large bike, I'd be very hesitant to ride it (Not that you can anyway) To me it's that dangerous.
  17. Belgium Malinois I think. Used by a lot of Police and Military forces. Similar to German shepherd but lighter on their feet. This one is very well trained. Make very loyal pets and great protection for the family... known to be fearless. Nice dog.
  18. No bikes are allowed on any motorway. You have to use other roadways.
  19. Yep, that would put a dent in your holiday. Partially why I stick to Agoda or Booking.com. Haven't been scammed yet!
  20. Yes it does make you wonder. Lucky for them it wasn't against Thais or that they weren't on long term stay. Mind you NZ is getting that way too. Sentencing takes into account cultural upbringing, drug dependancy/history, family upbringing etc etc. It's gone crazy. Blame everything else apart from the guilty bastard.
  21. My my how this post has turned ugly all of a sudden. Come on guys. Let's stop the personal attacks and focus on the subject. Food courts aren't everyone's fine dining experience and that's ok. They serve their purpose. Some are better than others and if we can pass on our experiences, then others may benefit.
  22. I'd be looking at getting your hands on a Wise account/card. Better exchange rates and less fees. Western Union are not the most economical way of transferring money. Very much like a convience store.
  23. You'd probably be right... not a popular drink round these parts. Would have more luck getting fresh Tiger in Singapore and you run the gauntlet trying to reminisce here. I've done the same, seen a beer that I hadn't for a while. Bought it and then wondered why it didn't taste the same from memory.
