  1. If you abscond with children who are not in your parental custody surely that is abduction.

He shall have been awarded 'custody' for sure, but in Thailand parental responsibility is 50/50 and never intended to be devisive. If the children are in Thailand, then legally (and unfortunately, in this case), and in law, she has as much right to that parental responsibility. Thus, it is not abduction. As soon as he handed them into the 'parental care of mother', on a formal, even if ad hoc, basis, he handed parental responsibility for the time they are with her. If that time was not agreed on paper, in a contractual form, then the mother has done nothing wrong. (again, I re-iterate, unfortunately). Such issues are delicate matters where children are involved, and anybody should read this forum with severity at mind. Sort out the law, before you assume it works the way it does in your home country.

The visit was at the farther's discretion {he has sole custody, I believe]. There was a time limit on the visit. The mother ignored this and abducted the children. That is how it works everywhere I would think, the fact the police are looking for her to return the children to their father would indicate the law is on his side.

Might not be me who wants to sort out their facts, eh.

  2. 20000 baht in Issan! That's even too much for Bangkok buddy. Your supporting your girlfriend and child which is fair and right...but paying for child no 1 and the mother in law too!?. 10,000 is more than enough to live comfortably in Issan...Is your wife paying rent?.if shes not and she wants 20k she's taking you for a ride!

There are a lot of unexpected costs you're not considering.

E.g. what if the buffalo gets sick?

what if the motorbike is stolen?

what if her brother needs bail money?

what if her grandmother gets sick?

All of these things may happen to OP's girlfriend/wife on a monthly basis.

  3. One Direction are booked to play next March at Rajamangala stadium, but I think the event is sold out already. I've heard that one reason that a lot of bands don't want to play here is that the main music venue has terrible acoustics and no one wants to play it.

Beat me to it lol. Not sure if its sold out yet, sar another full page advert in the Post recently.

People may knock them, but they are on course to become one of the biggest grossing bands out of the UK if not the world for decades, and yes they do write some of their own songs and play instruments

Only band to have 3 albums straight to number one on the bill board 100., not even the Beatles did this

Even if you think they are crap, just look at this, a cool billion dollars gross revenue by the end of 2014

  4. "It was reported that the students normally travelled to school in a passenger van. However, the van broke down this morning and the owner hired the song-thaew truck to take the students to the school."

Cutting corners and reducing costs. Should be partially held to account for supplying more dangerous mode of transport.

How do you get 21+ people in a song-thaew?

Exactly, Then be able to use it as a race car?

"her car had sustained gunshots fired by the three policemen as they gave her a hot pursuit and tried to stop her car."

gunshots? Look at the state of the tailgate! That's been impacted, and not by a car nor a few bullets.... nor feet. What the heck did they use?

Another report said that she when she tried to back up to get away, she slammed into a Benz.  Hence the damage to the rear of her car.  No mention if the cops are gonna repair the Benz.

    It was probably their's.

Why all this hate for Rodents?

Unfortunately/fortunately for you Thai's like frogs more than rats for dinner. 5555

Rats are actually quite popular up here in Isan. You can buy them in the markets, splayed open on display if you're too squeemish to catch them yourself. Taste like... Well, anyway, they taste horrible, if you ask me.

When I lived in Issan, a friend came over one evening with a bowl and said try this. Hmm, red hot Chillies and mutillated bones in a sauce. It was smashed to little pieces, Issan style, with a Machete. It was Rat, But field rat not town rat.

I thought these Jetski scammer should have insurance for their jetski to avoid scams...then again it goes on and on and onthumbsup.gif thumbsup.gif

I would also like to know why he hired them out, in an area that had submerged rocks, also, why they were not marked and were the Chinese couple warned about them. If jet skis are hired out, then it is the responsibility of the owner to warn customers and/or not hire in an area with potentially dangerous submerged objects. If I was an insurance company, I would not pay out because the owner has been negligent.

Exactly what I was thinking. Shouldn't have needed to pay anything. The operator should be charged for negligence.

  8. I read that one has to have minimum 7 years contribution to get free nhs treatment, when you at retirement age.

I have checked many times, and as a non resident, and living in Thailand for 12 years, i am not allowed treatment, other than emergency, but chargeable for anything else.

Ah OK, I didn't read it like that. I read it as expats who have contributed 7 years, not pensioners. I'm looking for the official document if it has been published?

    Thanks for the input thumbsup.gif

Yes I am sure that you are right.

Check out the last few pages of the UK pensoins thread running in general topics. I am sure it was discussed there, in depth.

Walked along the beach yesterday. Dodged the motorbikes, jet ski's and pickups. Rubbish everywhere, the only bins are right at the back along the road side. Disgusting. It was just as dirty at Surin and Kamala the week before.

Tourists laying on towels amongst the mess. alt=thumbsup.gif>

Maybe they can get the people from the overcrowded jails in Phuket town on a chain gang and clean the place up, make them give something back to the community.

This Island is going to sink under the weight of trash! alt=bah.gif>

YEP! This is why Thailand will never be a world-class destination. Thais don't get it. They are perfectly happing living amid rubbish and disarray. I'm amazed because they keep themselves so clean (I have never come across a bad-smelling Thai). But while they are meticulous about their personal appearance and the cars they drive if they can afford one, they keep messy dirty homes for the most part and have no concept of aesthetics.

Never been on a motorbike taxi?

Smell like Polecats, most of them.

  10. It was always going to be an uphill battle. Robben won second minute penalty, when quite clearly the infringement occoured at least a meter out side the box? Then Oscar receives a yellow card for being brought down in the box.

After Englands dismal World Cup. I decided to back Holland. But soon changed back to neutral after Robbens diving, which he has worked on to almost perfection. I am so pleased that he plays his club football in Germany, so at least we are not subject to it in the Premership every week.
