  1. NCPO asks RS to air all World Cup matches on Channel 5, 7

BANGKOK: -- The National Council of Peace and Order (NCPO) has requested RS Plc to put on air all World Cup matches which is scheduled to kick off Friday.

The NCPO head Gen Prayuth Chan-ocha asked that the football matches be on air on the Army’s Channel 5 and 7 with reason of returning happiness to the Thai people.

RS executive was reported to have agreed to the request and the NCPO and RS might have a press conference on the matter today.

The returning of happiness move came as the Supreme Administrative Court is set to have a ruling Wednesday at 1.00 p.m. on whether all World Cup 2014 matches are required to be televised live across free TV channels.

RS International Broadcasting and Sport Management, the exclusive rights holder for the FIFA World Cup, is fighting a court case with the National Broadcasting and Telecommunications Commission (NBTC) on whether it should allow live broadcast of the World Cup across all free TV channels.

Earlier, RS won the case in the Central Administrative Court and has decided to only televise 22 matches of the World Cup on free TV.

The rest of the matches had to be viewed through purchased set-top boxes.

However, the NBTC appealed against the court’s ruling by reasoning that all Thais must have a chance to watch the World Cup matches as they used to, citing its ‘Must-Have’ condition rule.

RS is also allowed to claim any monetary damages resulting from the “must-have” rule to protect their rights as the broadcast license holder.

However, RS affirmed that it would not do anything in violation of FIFA regulations and threatened to entirely stop broadcasting all matches on the World Cup if the Supreme Administrative Court ruled in favor of the NBTC.

OK boys just spotted this, a page couple of pages back.

Looks like we can call it a wrap, I think? You can all press which ever button takes your fancy, for me it's the Football one, played with the round ball. Not the egg shaped object that is picked up and run with that is Rugby Footegg shaped thing.

    C'mon ENGLAND (team gb)

  2. Natee pointed out that since 1970, all Thais had enjoyed watching live broadcast of all matches of the World Cup. Even during the 2010 World Cup, whose broadcast rights were also held by RS, 22 million households were able to watch live matches via free TV.

A judge at the court suggested that national interest should come first. Therefore, all Thais should be able to watch all 64 live matches of the World Cup final.

Perhaps when the Thai's consider sharing all they have regardless of a persons nationality they might find the world a fairer place.

Why should Thailand have a free viewing time concerning this football tournament when all other countries are paying the fee?

Personally I do not like football hence I am not affected, however those who do like football are very badly affected as I might be if it was a sport that I like, i.e. rugby, cricket motor racing, dwile flonking etc.

I attach below a link concerning Dwile Flonking for those who are unfamiliar with this ancient English pass time.cheesy.gif

Definitely looks like more fun and excitement than soccer

Can definitely see where your coming from.

  3. Got most of the info on tv coverage now, still the main court case outstanding (decision today) on whether RS will allow free tv channel coverage. I read that channels 7 & 8 wil be allowed to show 22 matches free too.

All 64 matches should be shown free but, this is the land of change you set top box every few months.

Hopefully the Military Junta will be looking for more Brownie points and insist that all games on free to air. Should go down well in the Boonies.

We lve in an apartment that provides cable/satellite TV. They show all F1 plus selected Premiership games. Normally no tennis, but now showing Queens?

Anyone know if you can buy a one off free to air sat box that will give the football?

  4. Dunno mate, thing is what did you move to Pattaya for, the bar scene fades after a while and it gets rather sad and depressing.

Yes I know. I don't think it matters where you live in Thailand, you have to live somewhere, I'm talking more generally what to do.

Surely the answer to your question is what do you want to do. Work that out and you've

    cracked it.

  5. Sounds like that shelter really takes good care of them. What were they doing, of all places, in walking street? Mind you, if the guy is a pedo, nail him. But the story is weird.

This is the immediate reaction I had. <deleted>?

Of all places? I have never been to Pattaya, however Walking Street is so notorious, I have heard about it many times.

He broke the legal age laws and faces punishment.

However the moralists are a bit over the top. The assaults are "alleged".

A crime is something seen to hurt another, and an assault is something done without consent.

If the report is accurate, it was not their first time and so they were not innocent minors. They knew what they were doing

and accepted money for a service.

It is possible they lied about their age, which he probably knew no doubt.

The unseen guilty parties? Parents, teachers, the carers, the community, the state and the whole country is also shamed,

for producing the poverty responsible. And so all of us, for not reminding everyone else, where those responsibilities lie.

What are theses 13/14 yar old Cambodian boy's doing in Thailand? Where are their guardians? are they here legally.

I am not defending this guy, if he did abuse them he is guilty. And should be sentenced as such. As for the boy's. They may also be guilty of soliciting

Food for thought, at age 13/14 how innocent where you. Never put your hand down a girls blouse or inside her knickers. I did and I was not damaged and as far as I know neither was any girl who gave me the honour.

next thing is, we are all on the way .out .. That could also be of our own choosing... I left what is fast becoming a Police state (UK) to come and live here.

  7. 1. Pay police a decent wage.

    2. Supply all their equipment and uniform, instead of making them buy their own.

    3. Stop the practice of buying promotions and promote on merit only.

    4. Stop using transfers as punishment. Start using dismissals and court action.

    5. Give all policeman clearly displayed badges with name AND number.

    6. Set up a robust Internal Affairs department and encourage the public to report wrong-doing to an action line.

    7. Sent fast-track personnel for specialized training in Western countries.

    8. Raise taxes through the roof... for those that are good enough to pay any.

i personally think the situation is better now than it was several weeks and months ago.

If you are not here. Why would you assume that?

  9. a certain kinf of people will come to visit places annually like pattaya or phuket, because they feel the need to be a 2 week millionaire and they can secuce any girl for the night, for the right fee, what they cannot do in their home country

If that is what they want there are other countries to go to where the cost would probably be about the same or, less.

  10. Interesting posts on this topic. Still wonder why no one bothered about

"Suthep and 10 other leaders were led from a military camp to the Office of the Attorney General to face insurrection charge"

Obviously and clearly for all to see a certain bias is displayed smile.png

And Yingluck already free to walk with no charges to answer.

I think it is a case of Red Rabies Rubi that has them all frothing illogically at the keyboard

    Not quite yet, perhaps

  11. I may regret posting this.... knock on wood.

My 3BB is and has been steady through all of the recent posts about problems with 3BB. I get 2.2 Mb down with very little variance. This is testing with MyTest.com

The only problems I am having is with ThaiVisa, which has been posted about on the Forum Support Desk thread.

There is still a problem with signing in. Apparently ThaiVisa Forums have a hard time working with INternet Explorer 11 and also Windows 8/8.1.

I've gave up with Internet explorer a long time ago.

  12. Darkside of Pattaya and my normally blistering 3BB connection has been glacial since yesterday with frequent outages.

I reckon that since the army has shut down all terrestrial television and radio, the much savvier than they think general public is hogging the internet for the news.

    Same for me Bang-Saen.
