Another reason is the poor condition of many roads. The traffic manoeuvres around deep holes and drivers use the outside lane because the nearside lane is rutted by heavy trucks .

Put your feet up so the soles of your shoes are exposed to the staff, so they get the message.
I never ate at any Thai restaurant in London as the prices were extortionate. In China Town they wanted a pound per satay stick, which would be stupidity to pay, given I could buy at least 12 here for the same price.
On the street maybe, but an aircon restaurant in BKK could be that sort of price. -
Typing this on long distsnce Thai bus, 6hr travel ,+ a free meal stop about 370฿. VIP about 30 seats (1seat aisle 2 configuration upstairs. WC below.I sat on a regular bus with a downstairs washroom and had to tell a complaining passenger from Europe
that is where it was when he started shouting in some language and walking around, he was clueless
that the bus even had a washroom.
Geezer
Car or taxi would be marginally quicker but less safe.
Until the Chinese build the high speed rail lines busses are quicker than by train.
A lot cheaper than flights.
12 seat vehicles are supposed to be phased out because of poor safety records and will be replaced by specially designed 20 seat busses.

The two customers should try a visit to Thailand and try that trick.

Bus, minibus, train fly or taxi are all options.
Fly quickest, train slowest.
VIP bus probably the best overall option.

Jeremey50 "Why were these people not sitting in the very comfortable and spacious train?"
Uh ... perhaps because there is no train to/from Krabi?Full size bus would be more comfortable, on board toilet and an organised stop.

Not anywhere close to Pattaya and Jomtiem or any other major tourist resort I can think of. Even if you can't see it I would expect pollution TIT. Hygiene does not seem to be taught in the schools.

There is an old saying . " If you can't hide it make a feature of it" How about using large short square or round head coach bolts.

If there are no other iron/steel items present you could use steel screws and find them with a magnet.

Sorry for confusing you.
sarcasm
noun [ U ]
UK /ˈsɑː.kæz.əm/ US /ˈsɑːr.kæz.əm/
the use of remarks that clearly mean the opposite of what they say, made inordertohurt someone's feelings or to criticize something in a humorous way:
"You have been working hard," he said with heavy sarcasm, as he looked at the empty page.
I thought sarcasm like irony were not to be found in US dictionsries.

Regarding import quantity the information I found says
"ONE LITER of alcoholic beverages per traveller.. Thai customs does not differentiate bewteen beer/wine/liquor.. It's one liter period.."

I understand that cans are now coated so they don't taint the flavour; I'm not convinced it works. Glass never had that problem.
Personally I still prefer beer from bottle rather than can

If Thailand and the USA were politically joined and shared a president/primer minister. Who would you vote for Prayuth or Trump,?

So you bought your wife? Is a wife a possession? Or is it your wife is only with you for the money? I've always thought the woman ought to also bring assets to the relationship other than her physical attributes.
Do you are still single from the sound of it.

Women, even American if at all possible divorce in the UK. It's where they get the most money.
How is it different? A divorce in the US totally gutted me. No way could I lose that much here. A substantial portion of my savings remains in the US and cannot be touched by my Thai wife. If worse comes to worse, both the Thai courts and the US courts will make you the the loser.

So agreed Thailand driving is abysmal.
Steps that could be taken.
On the road training and testing.
Enforcement of moving traffic violations . Dangerous overtaking, driving on the wrong side of the road, DUI. Overloaded vehicles. Speeding.
Make the speed limits realistic on main roads 30kph on a 3 lane highway 24/7 because a school is in the area will not be complied with.
Discourage U turns. More roundabouts and educate people how to use them.
Enforcement of driving without a licence/underage
etc. etc..
