  1. The word that you are looking for here is ignorant ( unlearned or not having knowledge) not stupid.

Sadly in Thailand for average people both apply
Check on IQ statistics and information on education if you do not believe me.

  2. Since the emphasis of this thread has shifted to the colour of someone skin/appearance,, it's all the more interesting that some of the most vociferous are white skinned 'Brits' who have gone to Thailand to hook up with brown skinned girls.

The same people who complain about xenophobic Thais?

The Thais have the right idea. Thailand for the Thais .

  3. Once again there is no such thing as a retirement or marriage VISA they are extensions of permission to stay
    NOT a VISA.

A pedant is a person who is excessively concerned with formalism, accuracy, and precision, or one who makes an ostentatious and arrogant show of learning.

Visa and marriage or retirement extension to Visa.
As they say "Same same but different"

  4. Last week I went to the U.S.Embassy to p/u my notorizied  earings affadavit.
The next day I took my permission to stay application and all the required copies with my passort to Buriram immigration.
The officer looked at all my aperwork and questioned how I could prove I received the necessary 65000 living expenses stated on my earnings affadavit.
I had never been a asked this before. in the past 5 years I would hand over the affadavit from the US embassy and that was proof enough. Now they want to see how your earnings go thru your Thai bank.

Luckily I had my Bangkok bank book with and showed the officer a deposit
Every month for over 80,000 baht

The officer accepted my application and stamped my 1 year extension. And was very curteous and helpful also speaking very good english.
I was in and out in 30 minutes. So I must  say Buriram immigration is very falang friendly. At C/W I would have been there all day.

Retirement Visa is so much quicker and easier than marriage visa. I have the additional funds so I don't know why I really bother applying for the marriage visa.

  5. Physically, I do not find Thai-women in general to be super attractive compared to other women. There are actually a lot of fat and ugly Thai-women around.

However there are some things I find unique for Thai-women (if I think about my wife).

    1. Have experienced a "hard life", making her content and happy with small and simple things in life.

    2. Happy 99,999% of the time. Honest and caring about others.

    3. A hard worker. (both at home and at her job)

    4. A great mother and wife.

    5. Always a clean body and takes good care of herself and her looks.

    6. Aware of the need to care of her husband and family and her role as a woman.

    7. Her religion, culture and traditions, which makes her in peace with herself.

    and most important...

    8. She hates and does everything to avoid discussions, which just makes everything in the relationship so much easier.

So your lady doesn't talk to you either 5555

Maybe I can shed some light on this for you.

The UK state pension is, in fact, a social security benefit, not a personal pension. This is the case, even though someone could have paid 48 years in national insurance contributions.  Therefore, as a benefit it can be frozen in those countries which do not have bi-lateral social security agreements. (Thailand does not, whereas the Philippines does, hence a Brit in Thailand has his/her pension frozen for the day they reside here, whereas the same Brit living in the Philippines would have annual increases in relation to inflation etc)

In the EC all countries, by definition, have social security agreements with each other, hence pensions in those countries for Brits are increased annually. What happens in Europe after Brexit is not clear, but I suspect bi-lateral agreements will replace the blanket agreement which currently operates.

I think the article is somewhat ludicrous in suggesting Thailand could be a panacea for retirees, as opposed to anywhere else.

Finally, if a Brit lives in Canada or the US he would have an annual increased pension in one but not the other. .(Just can't remember which one is which).

    Hope this helps.

    USA pensioners get increases

    Canada pensions frozen

  7. Guess he means that taps in Thailand sometimes open when turned to the right side. In the west they ALWAYS open when turned to the left.

In my bedroom we have many ceiling spotlights, but the switches don't correspond with the lights...the left switch controls the spots at the righthand side of the room.

It's the same with some doorlocks who have to be turned clockwise to open, i've never seen that in the West.

Depends which side of the door you are on. If the door knob on the outside is on the left and opens by turning clockwise then the inside knob will open counter clockwise.
But don't worry. Your padded cell won't have a handle on the inside.
