Thailand uses the Thai Solar calender. 543 years ahead of the Gregorian calender in 2025. Since Songkran is celebrating the Thai new year, I think you need to respect the fact that they have more than 500 years practice at defining their New Year celebrations. It is hard to argue that those practices have evolved for the better. The more traditional, pouring of water into the cupped hands and a bit of powder patted on to the faces of elders, a bit of water poured over Bhudda images, does still happen. My wife and I still get the traditional treatment from our grand kids. The more untraditional high powered water guns, buckets of dirty water with ice and drunken stupidity in the streets has been an unwelcome development however, no one will ever curtail that no matter how many times people are injured, blinded or killed. So in answer to your question Josie, they probably do understand but for many reasons, it is all just let go, in a Thai way of course.

Hard to establish the coolant residue issue without replacing the radiator cap first. The reservoir cap may also be dodgy given the age of the vehicle so try a new one of those as well. Could be an alternator, water pump or power steering pump problem making the noise. Process of elimination for tracking it down. If you can get hold of a mechanics stethascope you could listen to the water pump, alternator and PS pump while the engine is running to help pin point where the noise is coming from. It could also be the drive / fan belts. Throw a bit of water on them while the engine is running and if the noise stops that could indicate that they are worn and need replacing.
