So, yea, conversational English is pretty terrible; however, it's just not taught effectely in school. Most kids in school won't engage in speaking English unless they have to, with a few exceptions in the front row. Now, I do think Thais can read English better than we can read Thai. They can write in English OK, not great. Speaking, nah, too many Non-natives growing up really does throw a wrench in those plans. Maths, Science, not sure, but at least they are trying both subjects in English. Overall, yes, terrible; however, for 99.9% they don't make more money or get a prize if they improve. Schools don't care at all....blah, blah, blah gets you a 4.0 and you will 100% advance to the next grade. lol
