  1. Rescuing hostages is not that difficult. All it takes is a specialized team flown in and some good intel.
  2. Do you mean a tank top? I wear one underneath my shirts.
  3. Are you a man?
  4. Agreed. I left a handheld shopping basket in one of the isles one time and walked away. Way in the back of the store when nobody was around. Right before I got to the front threshold near the main hallway an employee came up behind me with the basket thinking I forgot it, I assume, or just giving it back to me. The weird thing was the basket was empty and it was obvious I was leaving. 😂 They are watching your every move in there, most likely on cameras from the ceiling.
  5. I used to deal with these guys when I lived on Sukhumvit 22. They interpret a negative response as interest and engagement. The only thing you can do is not respond. Also, don't sit curbside if possible. They like reaching over and/or putting the watches on the table while you are sitting there having a beer or eating. A real repulsive lot.
  6. Pretty weird having the checkout in the middle of the store. I hope people don't walk out with things in the front by mistake, looking for the checkout then get caught shoplifting.
  7. Thai's don't seem to take responsibility for problems (loss of face?). What that means is when the problem can no longer be ignored it has to be viewed as coming from somewhere in order to pacify the masses that something is being done to correct the problem. Is that foreigners? I hope not, but they would be an easy scapegoat.
  8. Did they think you were gay coming in and out of that guys room all the time?
  9. You seem kind of flakey. Do you meet the requirements or not?
  10. Sarcasm. I'm surprised I don't hear more complaints.
  11. Is that your situation? What backup money do you have currently, if any?
  12. l was afraid of stuff like this years ago. It's the main reason why I lost interest in opening an account here.
  13. Especially if the condo fees are not paid. They probably don't have the deposit to give back.
  14. I'm surprised anyone would want to get involved being a witness, especially if they are taking your picture. Seems like it could lead to problems if something happened down the road. Feels like vouching for the person.
  15. Absolutely, they watch foreigners, but I don't think it's paranoia. I'm not sure of the exact reason. It's certainly not crime. I put it down to boundries just being different. You can still find living situations here that are very private, you just need to be careful and take your time when deciding.
  16. That's not his job, dude. He is not interested or he would have done that already.
  17. I find places where I can get in and out without facing the security guy or front office, or just people in general. My place now has them, but they are in an enclosed a/c area so they see me coming and going, but there is no interaction, so that feels fine. The worst situation is when they are right by the access door. Just something to think about if you're a bit unsocial renting in Thailand. Check it at night and see where the security guy sets up shop. They will often move the inspection table into position at nightfall, not during the daytime.
  18. Does building staff understand the nuance between the access card being locked and unit access? Typically, common areas can be locked out, but not access to the privately owned unit. Possibly requiring you to ask for access each time you enter during business hours. Most Thai security would not be educated enough to understand this, however. They could view you as an intruder trying to get in with a non-working access card.
  19. I rented this time from building management. Skipped private landlords and agents altogether. Good luck with the rental. 🤣
  20. I agree. Unit owners own part of the common spaces via common fees, so they would need to be working. The common fees are attached to the owned property. Even if the fees were unpaid they are still responsible. However, only a court would look into it, not the people evicting. The renter would be long gone by then.
  21. They would not be here otherwise (unless they needed cheaper living for some reason ie, low on money)
  22. I rarely see them together as a paired couple where I am. It's almost like they are gay or just never go around with women. It's more just large groups and not what looks like boyfriend/girlfriend. In Pattaya should there not be a lot of Thai couples together? Strange.
