  1. 'Beach Blanket Bingo.' I started resonating early.
  2. Absolutely! Anyone who has ever experienced true Depression knows the difference between being 'Cliniclly Depressed' and just deeply unhappy. It's a Black Hole that sucks you in, and you feel as if you can't escape... and you don't care. You just want to cease to exist. Not necessarily die. Just cease to exist. If you've been depressed, you understand. PTSD did it for me. Fortunately, the V.A, was still a functioning organization at that time, and I was helped. If you are clinically depressed, or you know someone who is, get help immediately. It IS treatable.
  3. Just one quick comment; Depression is a mental illness, not an emotion. It is DIFFERENT from being very sad or feeling lonely. Unhappiness is not depression. When you're depressed, generally you don't feel. Anything. And you don't care that you don't feel. Been there. Worst feeling in the world. Meds and counseling help solve the problem. Never, ever want to experience it again.
  4. Thailand will likely experience the same rising food costs, and for the same reasons, as the U.S. For whatever reason, if your field hands leave, the food rots on the ground, and the prices rise.
  5. Ah... I see how you are using the term. Yes! I was desperate. My waist was 12" larger than it was when I was in my 30's, and I couldn't seem to do anything about it. So I tried Keto. It worked.
  6. It is so amazing to watch the people's reaction to Newsom, never realizing he is perfectly aping their cult leader, but it's driving them mad! It may be the first time I've found something funny in MAGAstan.
  7. Calling someone with mental or developmental difficulties a 'retard' seems to be S.O.P. in Magastan. The sad part is that they don't even realize what they are doing, or how they look to the rest of the world for doing it! As for 'false claims...,' I watched him do this live on TV... It makes me sick to think that 50% of Americans believe this behavior is OK.
  8. Hardly ‘desperation.’ More like, ‘ feeling healthy. ‘ I reached my desired weight goal after the first year, but have continued with this style of eating for the next five years because my body feels better when I do. Please, where is the desperation you see? Periodically, I will break Ketosis for a few days, eat the things I ‘think’ I’m missing, but after 3-4 days my body starts to feel like a slug again, with joint pain creeping back in. Getting my body back into Ketosis again solves that problem . Joint pain disappears, I no longer feel bloated after meals, or need to take a nap after eating or every afternoon. This lifestyle may only be good for 10-15 years, but that’s enough for me. 🙂
  9. Exercise is a great way to get in shape, but the slowest way to shed weight. Which is your goal? Or is your longer-term goal just good health?
  10. I spend 3-4 mornings a week at sports. (Gyms bore the hell outta me!) Normally, carbs are burned for energy. Reduce the carbs and the body switches to burning fats. But... the body needs 'some' carbs. If the body doesn't get enough, it will manufacture them. As long as you're healthy, you won't run out... The body can only handle so much carbs, and then it begins to store them. I choose not to store them any longer.
  11. Again, just anecdotal evidence. When we see words like ‘suggest’ and ‘likelihood’ we know that there is no peer-reviewed scientific study. It ‘may’ be correct, and it may be wrong. I prefer to stick with science.
  12. I've been following the Keto lifestyle for over six years. No related health issues, according to my yearly health checks. I agree! That's why I've adopted Keto as a lifestyle and not a 'diet.' Radically change one's eating habits for a few weeks, and we can call it a 'diet.' Live your life eating the same way every day, and it becomes a way of life. But I would love to see some peer-reviewed studies in medical journals to back up your statement about fat or protein. How much fat or how much protein is not healthy? This is Science. What are the numbers? If it's so, then there will be data to back it up, not just anecdotal evidence.
  13. Thanks! Early mornings and me don't get along. Thanks for the heads-up!
  14. Keep it simple. If you want more energy, more zing? Try the Keto Lifestyle. I'm 78 and still out and about every day, sports three-four times a week, NO NAPS in the afternoon...
  15. So long as the HDL levels are high and the LDL levels low, it really doesn't seem to matter. Two doctors whose opinions I tend to trust have told me the same thing. So long as my blood pressure and heart function remain normal, I can continue with this lifestyle. I hope they are right... I began eating this way six and a half years ago, and so far, so good. I've only got about another 10 years if I'm lucky, and this diet makes my body feel much better overall. Joint pain reduced, body inflammation reduced, more energy, alert, never feel bloated after meals. and the biggest advantage... no more Pre-Diabetes. Peer-reviewed research on Cholesterol has been radically changing medical thinking about Cholesterol and its role in the body.
  16. Not many. I have a busted bicep muscle that stops me from rock climbing too. Did it about 10 years ago when I was in my 60's. Doc said not to bother fixing it so long as I don't put too much strain on what's left.
  17. BMI - 24 BP - 118/70 Pulse - 65 as of Saturday. I've maintained this average for the past five years. I doubt I hit my Keto macros very often, but the fats certainly always do outweigh the proteins, and the carbs tend to come from green vegetables of some sort.
  18. My Keto macros are 80% fat, 15% protein, and 5% carbs. A 'little' lump of butter won't work for me. I need lots more.
  19. Great for a single person who doesn't want to use oil for frying. Simple to use, a bit messy to clean up, but very convenient. A little small if you have a large family. Terrible if you feel the taste of good oil is important when frying, or following a Keto lifestyle.
  20. Flushing toilets causes more disease than sitting on them. When you flush, water vapor carrying particles of matter from the toilet rise up in the air, literally coating the walls of the stall... and you. I was taught at an early age to close the lid before flushing. Dad was a doctor. Even Chinese Feng Shui says toilets should be closed (doors too!) for an auspicious life.
  21. Excuse me? You believe badmouthing people for what they wear is 'just making conversation?' Wow! Thanks for clearing that up. Goodbye.
  22. Interesting way to avoid answering the question. You should get dancing credit for that. Let's try the question again, like we do for politicians who won't answer. Why do you give a damn what other people are wearing?
  23. Legit question: Why do you give a damn what other people are wearing? So long as the person next to me doesn’t smell bad, I couldn’t care less what they are wearing.
  24. Many expats are not concerned with fashion. The statement, "The clothes make the man," might be true in the competitive business world, but holds no water for those whose lives revolve around leisure activities. Personally, my goal is comfort, and most of my clothing is 20+ years old, soft, and comfortable. Clean Cargo shorts and a clean cotton T-shirt or polo shirt, and a pair of sandals, is perfectly acceptable men's wear here in Thailand, even for expats.
  25. I finally realized that going bald was going to work for me. No more wasted time every morning when getting dressed. No more bad haircuts. No more having to carry a comb to look neat. Once a week, I machine-cut the stuff left around the edges. Done. Life made simple by Male Pattern Baldness. 🙂
