  1. You might have been right before Hamas and the PLO joined forces, but now the US will veto any UN Bill to mandate a Palestinian state as long as the Hamas terrorists refuse to make peace.

Many countries such as , France,U.K, Indonesia etc etc will recognize the Palestinian State without the UN mandate. The bill on the Iraq invasion was vetoed but that didn't stop it going ahead.

  2. Why should Palestine have to gain Israeli approval for how it wants to be governed. Would Isreal accept being told how to govern itself?

I would think Palestine would be more interested in self determination and acknowledgement by the UN.

    Because

    1. Israel is allegedly occupying Palestinian land

    2. Peace Agreement is with Israel NOT another nation

    3. Governance of Palestine has a direct effect on Israel and its people

    4. Palestine does not have even a half decent track record of sticking to agreements

    5. Terrorist from Palestine(ie Hamas, Islamic Jihad, Fatah El Brigades) constantly attack Israeli civilians and if Palestinian government unable to deal with them, someone has to.

    6. Because 1/2 of the government wants borders of 1967 and East Jerusalem, while the other one wants Pre-1967 and all of Jerusalem

    7. Because if the government does not recognize its neighbor, why would Israel sign any peace treaty or give any allowance.

    8. Because Palestine gets money from Israel(taxes collected from Israeli Arabs)

But you only responded to half the question. Would Israel accept being told how to govern itself. They don't even follow UN resolutions.

A shame this is all about Israel getting what it wants but never about Palestine getting what it needs.

Israel is not the one with a charter which seeks destruction of another state. While you may not like how Israel responds to terror attacks, Israel certainly does not seek to push all the arabs and palestinians into the sea(unlike Hamas)

You also need to keep in mind, that UN resolutions are never ever followed by Hamas and PA, just like all the agreements are broken. I can understand that you want Israel to be above that, but being rational does not always work in that part of the world.

As you can see, israel has very very simple demands-stop the violence and attacks and but even something as simple as that can not be followed.

Palestine will get what they want once they stop the violence and recognize Israel, but then again what is it that they want? 1967 borders? or pre 1967 borders? East Jerusalem or all of Jerusalem?

What is their plan of action on how to implement the borders and patrol it.

Change the record Kuffki. You are so boring with your over stated statements. Got anything new to bad mouth the Palestinians about? That would be interesting.

  3. israeli_soldier_palestinian_boy.jpg

I hope this poor little kid has a long memory.

Interesting photo.lets discuss it shall we?!

    1. First thing that comes to my mind is WHERE ARE THE PARENTS? and why IS THE BOY ALLOWED TO BE IN THE FRONT LINE?

    2. There are 2 boys and one is standing right next to the soldier rather curious then scared

    3. Soldier does not appear to be aiming at a boy, but rather looking down the street.

    4. Correct me if i am wrong, but when kids this age are scared they cry, they certainly do not stand there looking with curiosity in their eyes.

    5. Soldier has no identifying marks, so what army is this solder from?

    6. Boy next to the soldier, in yellow shirt is standing there with hands in his pockets, which clearly does not show any danger.

so why do not you chose a better picture if you trying to twist the facts

    palestinian.way.of.war.gif

There are no frontlines. If the IDF soldier ,identfied by weapon, equipment and uniform, happened to have a UD with his weapon at the moment that this pic was taken he would without a doubt take the top half of the liitle boys head off. I am sure he can find another arc to point his weapon in that situation. Most soldiers DO so.

If you are saying that that soldier is not looking at this little boy in this picture then you may need to have your eye examined.

The older boy with his hands in his pocket has seen it everyday of his life. He is semi used to it.

Your pic skit of the prams is quite childish. :bah:

  4. I do not understand why there is continued discussion. Bab al Azizya is the headquarters of the Gaddafi regime. It is where the key military decisons are made. There are military barracks and facilities at the location. This makes it a legitimate target. look at the satellite phots. Look at the news footage of the bombed bunker. It was several stories below ground, built of reinforced concrete. The building that was targeted was not a primary purpose residential building.

Come on!! Gaddafi could be taking a dump in an out house in the middle of the desert and NATO would attack it, call it a military target. Because to NATO, Graddafi is the target

  5. If the rebels kill Gaddafi then so be it. The people of Libya would have then spoken for themselves, therefore they have a clear mandate to change the country as they please.. [who know how long it will last ]

Firstly it is not the Wests', UN, UK, USA, NATO etc etc to kill him. However if he is killed by said Co, then the people of Libya have been spoken for by 'outsiders'. They have had thier choice made for them. This is an election by the sword. And one side is being jacked up by Western influence .

Is that how democracy works? An armed insurgency is successful so the people have spoken? If Gaddafi crushes the rebels, will that be the Libyan people's will too?

So be it. It is Libya. Not anywhere else.

They have had thier choice made for them. This is an election by the sword. And one side is being jacked up by Western influence . Remember that Gaddafi still obviously has a large, large support base.If he hadn't he would be LONG gone by now. We just hear mostly stories from the rebels point of view. There are two sides to every story. There are young, innocent women and children living amongst his followers, praying that he will protect them the same. It is not illegal to be Libyan and love Gaddafi. Is it ? Where is the no fly zone for these people ? They are being rained 500lb'rs everyday and night.

  7. Kill Gaddafi and the conflict there effectively ends. There is no real Gaddafi ideology to fight for once he's gone.

Gaddafi thought he was rehabilitated in the eyes of the West. This war against him isn't exactly revenge as a dish served cold, but it's a fitting, if rather late, end.

I don't agree. Unfortunatley some Countries need to be ruled by an iron fist. Particularly Middle Eastern countries. Look at what happened when they killed Saddam Hussein. More people have died in Iraq since then than before. And Iraq is far from out of the woods. So IMO killing Gaddaffi is not the answer. His loyalist, which are obviously numericaly superior to the rebels, will not die with him. And what you will have left is another insurgency which could go on for another 5, 10, or more years. More death. And inevitablythe West will be drawn into it in one way or another.

Maybe we should all leave Libya alone and let them vote with thier rifles and rockets. It would be over one way or another a hell of alot quicker. And the end state would be less casualties. Less money.

  8. Iran is gripped by a bad economy, angry citizenry and hostile neighbours. The Iranian public is fed up of seeing oil revenues distributed to other countries. Iranians want to know why they live in poverty while billions are sent to countries that are not even related nor muslim. The youth of iran want to breathe and the foot of the depsots is crushing their throats.

I like the " hostile neighbours " part of your post. I mistakenly thought you were of the belief that Iran was the hostile nation towards its neighbours.

  9. In any conflict where arms are used, people are killed or wounded by friendly fire, ANY. ;)

Yes of course but........Isn't it ironic that the reason NATO is there is supposedly to enforce a NO Fly / No Conflict situation.

Would you say mission accomplished then?

I guess it would be long odds for us to see Mr Obama on the deck of USS Mesheddunstinc in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, firing off rhetoric under the banner " Mission Accomplished" :cheesy:

  10. This is a war crime. I know for a fact that assassination attempts are not part of the UN resolution. NATO therefore are in breach of this resolution. They have deliberately attacked a target that they would have know well had innocent children and civilians sheltering in it. However thier urge to assassinate Ghadaffi got the better of them. They are indeed war criminals and the leaders of the organistation and the member countires that carried out or assisted in this particular attack should be charge accordingly. Innocent children were delibaeratly targeted. Regardless of who is thier Grandfather. They were innocent young children. :annoyed:

You make the claim that the bombing of a military command center was a war crime. Why? What evidence do you have?

On one hand we have the legal experts that review and vet targets vs. your politically motivated opinion.

Nato made clear in advance the compound was a target. It gave prior warnings.

Innocent civilians sheltering? No. There was no need for "innocent" civilians to shelter in the Gaddaffi military compound. No one in that compound was innocent. They are all Gaddaffi loyalists seeking to to kill and maim as many people as they can. Anyone in a military facility used to block the no fly provisions of the UN mandate became a legitimate target. If some of the Gaddaffi progeny met an untimely demise, take it up with Saif and his wife and ask them why they put their children smack dab in the heart of a military target. You might want to read up on war crimes and other details before making accusations.

OK. I will play. You asked me to look up war crimes right ? Your comments on the children disgust me. What about all the children in Iraq that were killed? Guess you

have no sympathy there either. You can throw whatever you like around in defence of NAOT but the fact of the matter is, deliberately targeting civilians is a was crime.Period!! And it does not get anymore precise than this attack.

  11. Gadaffi killing civilians? What do you think is happening in Iraq and Afghanistan, the same thing. These are unusual circumstances where the enemy is not easily identified. Do you think the rebels are all squeaky clean about this?

They are no longer civilians when they join a rebellion, take up arms and fight. Period!!!

  13. Anyone who followed the uprising knew this would happen as solidarity with Palestinians was the single unifying factor of the divers groups. That is equally true across the whole Arab and wider Muslim world. The people (maybe not the unelected governments) sympathise with the Palestinians and the uprisings mean even those hard regimes that survive will have to take this into account. One difference now is the level of solidarity is starting to spread into non-Muslim countries. There is a momentum for the Palestinians to get something not on terms dictated by others. This is also what has driven Fatah-Hamas reproachment as even they are aware of the way things are going and they have to move with the feeling.

    Perfectly said.

  14. Thanks for great advices, keep the coming I'm sure this is a topic many can find helpful.

Buy an new Laptop dude. This time with Thai characters and programs installed.

The day I can afford to buy a new MacBook just to get Thai characters on the keyboard is the day I will buy everyone posting in this thread a round of belgium beer at an overpriced Thong-Lor club.

Haha! If you've got a bit of cash to spare you could replace the keyboard on your macbook with a thai-eng one. It will certainly look nicer than the sticker job. New macbook pro keyboards are about 2000 THB, and they will charge you 1000 THB to fit. It's fairly easy to do yourself, all you need is a precision screwdriver set and a Torq screwdriver set.

Installing Thai on a mac is easy, just click the flag on the bar at the top of the screen and "Open international". You can set up a keyboard shortcut to switch between languages. Mine is 'Apple key + space'.

As for learning vocab - thai-language.com has a list of 1,000+ most common - that's a good a place as any to start. I use ProVoc. Find a patient Thai who will listen and correct your reading. Get some Thai friends on facebook and start reading their status conversations. It all adds up.

Be patient, and stick at it. Good luck!
