  1. Eurosport commentators were saying that Bridgestone were asked to make a special tyre for Indy as its an anti-clock circuit, therefore many more lefts, also that particular part of the circuit is only used once a year for bikes and a few car races,

all guesswork really whether its tyres, track or rider??? Lorenzo had 2 sliders on his left knee, apparantly to keep the bike a bit more upright..

WSB Effenbert Liberty Chech team not going to Russia, dunno why that is? lack of funds perhaps?

  2. Soihok, unless your new place is on the ground floor, you will have to buy a Honda monkey bike so it will fit in the lift!!

Yes, seems Dovi is going to Duke, so the factory teams are all sorted now, i really wonder who the front runners will be next year? shall i tell you now or you all gonna wait for next year????

WSB, Front runners next year or the next race even, no idea, which makes it so much more interesting....

  3. I married a russian lady in 2001, we got divorced in 02, i ownned the house we were living in, so the divorce court ruled that since she had made no contribution to the house, she had no claim on it, i would think that would be the same for your 2 properties before you got married, and it could be the same for the house you "bought" together, has she got bank statements to show she paid towards the mortgage or buying of the house?

Seems only a year or so since you had the new house, if she has paid towards it, offer to give her money back, get divorced, buy her a ticket for home, and that should keep it far from getting messy,

  4. Good news indeed, shame moaner retired, but soo good to see Vale on a winning bike again,

Now hes made the decesion, the rest of the teams will make there move for the remaining riders, i think this will happen thick and fast now,

Dovi will be royally pissed off now, perhaps go to Duke or WSB, dont think he will want to stay with Yam after that,

  5. That is why i said check the depth of the crack, its on the shoulder, the very thickest part of the tyre, it can be repaired but i dont suppose that technology has reached Thailand yet, if it doesnt reach the cords or has caused an undue bulge in the tyre, it is NOT an mot failure, and if the OP is worried about it, thats why i said move it to the back, less stress ect, and to get the full life out of the tyre, even as a spare, rather than keep an undersize tyre that would be an Mot faliure if fitted,

My mother in law in Bangkok needs a new driver for her S500. Please don't apply.

Thankyou very much for your informative post, and next along will be TA with a stupid 3 word reply to add to his 12000 other equally useless posts with the usual smileys, anybody agree with this??

  7. OP, first thing is check the depths of the cracks, the pictured cracks are in the very thickest of the tyre, the shoulder, if the cracks are over 3mm deep, yes, change tyre,

If you have your own reliable tyre pressure gauge, and car handbook, make sure the pressures are right, the cracks you have can be over/under inflation and hard/fast driving/conering ect, this is when the shoulder works the most,

These cracks are not caused by whacking a kerb or bouncing over potholes, if so, there would be scuff marks which are not apparant on your pics,

It looks like the tyre still has plenty of tread on it, perhaps have the wheels swapped front to back, with balance and pressures adjusted acordingly,

The tyre in question would fail an annual UK Ministry of Transport test. It is illegal to even repair a simple nail puncture in the side wall of a tyre. In fact, one would get a ticket from a cop. wink.png

You know so very little dont you, why dont you check before you post crap,

    a. A tyre has a cut the length of which is in excess of 25 mm or 10% of section width, whichever is greater, deep enough to reach the ply or cords

    b. a tyre has

    · a lump, bulge or tear caused by separation or partial failure of its structure. This includes any lifting of the tread rubber

    · any of its ply or cord exposed

    c. a recut tyre fitted to a vehicle not permitted to be so equipped

    d. a tyre incorrectly seated on the wheel rim

    e. a seriously damaged or misaligned valve stem which could cause sudden deflation of the tyre

    f. a tyre not fitted in compliance with the manufacturers sidewall instruction, e.g. an asymmetric with a sidewall marked ‘outer’ fitted with the marking to the inner side of the wheel.

Note: Direction of rotation may be indicated by an arrow and/or words, but an arrow by itself should not be taken to indicate direction of rotation.

    2.

A tyre fouling a part of the vehicle.

Note: A vehicle should only be rejected if the tyre is actually fouling a part of the vehicle. Evidence of fouling e.g. due to tyre flexing or suspension movement is not a Reason for Rejection.

    3.

Tyres on twin wheels making wall contact due to under-inflation or incorrect fitment.

Note: Some tyres, e.g. radial ply tyres, with flexible side walls may touch under load. Wall contact in these circumstances is not a reason for rejection.

    4.

A tyre pressure monitoring system warning lamp:

    . inoperative

    . indicating a system malfunction.

4.1 Tyres (Tread Pattern, Breadth and Depth)

    Tread

A tread pattern is the combination of plain surfaces and grooves extending across the breadth of the tread and round the entire circumference.

The tread pattern excludes any tie-bars, tread wear indicators, or features designed to wear out substantially before the remainder of the pattern, and other minor features. Grooves that had not been cut as deep as those containing the wear indicators when new, are not to be considered as part of the tread pattern.

    Breadth of Tread

The part of the tyre which can contact the road under normal conditions of use measured at 90 degrees to the peripheral line of the tread.

A 1.6 minimum tread depth applies to

A vehicle first used after 2 January 1933 that is either

    a. a passenger carrying vehicle (car, motor caravan etc) with not more than 8 passenger seats, excluding the driver’s, or

    b. a goods vehicle or dual purpose vehicle not exceeding 3500 kg maximum gross weight

Tricycle and quadricycle requirements are detailed at Section 9.4.

A 1.0mm minimum tread depth applies to

    · A passenger-carrying vehicle with more than 8 passenger seats excluding the driver’s seat

    · A vehicle first used before 3 January 1933.

    E. Tread Pattern Breadth and Depth

    1.6 mm tread depth

    1. Check the tread pattern over the complete circumference of the tyre. Check also that the tread depth meets the requirements using, as necessary, a depth gauge accepted for MOT testing.

    1. The grooves of the tread pattern are not at least 1.6mm throughout a continuous band comprising

. the central three-quarters of the breadth of tread, and

. round the entire outer circumference of the tyre

Note: Each side of the central band of the tyre can be devoid of tread (ie. ‘bald’) and still meet the pass. See diagram below

    tyres_4.1_page6.gif

    1.0 mm tread depth

    2. Check the tread pattern over the complete circumference of the tyre. Check also that the tread depth meets the requirements using, as necessary, a depth gauge accepted for MOT testing.

    2. A tyre with a tread pattern

    a. not visible over the whole tread area, and

    b. the depth of which is not at least 1mm throughout a single band

    · round the entire outer circumference of the tyre

    · of at least three-quarters of the breadth of tread.

Note: The 1.0mm tread depth requirement applies to the whole tread width if the original tread pattern did not extend beyond three-quarters of the tyre width when new.

    Issue Date: 01 January 2012

  8. CBR, Fords had the same problem in UK years ago, turned out to be the gearstick [total assembly] where it goes into the top of box, renew this, 17quid at the time and all was fine, you say it happens when you hit a bump or pothole, no doubt you take your foot off accelerator pedal, or is bounced off,

Try driving in 2nd on a flat road, on and off the pedal, if it jumps out, it possibly is a weak indent spring, [or broken] 2quid part,

If it doesnt grate or grind changing into 2nd, its not internal, which means the synchro hubs are working fine, but if this jumping keeps going on, they will deterioate over time, I dont think your box has a remote linkage, if it has, it might need ajusting or worn joints replacing, also a check round the engine and gearbox mountings might help..

  10. I would say you are on the right track with the ignition switch Turk, many older Hondas that come to the mrs salon/shop ive seen the riders switch the ignition on and off several times before they will start, even the elec start later models,

Probaly a sealed unit so striping the panels ect off might be non-productive, try squirting some WD40 or similar down the keyhole, put the key in and work a few times, it might help some gungy or burnt contacts in the lower part..

  11. Saw every race live on eurosport 2, from 3.30 pm till 11.00pm, well, not the last one, KTM juniors cup, the only race that wasnt red flagged was the superstock 1000s,

Poor result for UK riders in WSB, no podiums atall, i really thought our blokes had wet races sown up, specially at a home circuit, lot of them were on about some kind of fluid on the track, which brought several of them down,

Another strange thing is they took race 2s red flag results back 2 laps, and the grinner wasnt atall happy about that, Baz had already crashed and yet got 2nd, But very good rides from Baz, 1st & 2nd, 19yo, hes gonna do well,,,,

Sam Lowes, led most of the WSS, Cluzel following, on the last lap, instead of protecting his line into the corner, Cluzel cruised through, am tried to get past and could have put them both out, but chief inspector Clousua got the win..

The rumor mill was going on as usual, when intervied, Ten Kate Honda boss didnt rule out that L Haslam might be joining them as team mate for Rea, if i was boss id sack Rea, hes downright dangerous, and if he doesnt injure himself badly, he will someone else!!!

Sent to you from my pACERmaker,

  12. Strange post, Lickey. My OP was not about me; why should I place it in your sob thread, which I’ve never contributed to since I’m not one to sob, despite my own health problems and despite the fact that I’m going on trial on Monday in Pattaya [heading to Pattaya in 30 minutes] to answer a charge of causing death by careless driving 4 months ago though I contributed 0% to the accident in my opinion? Every challenge has just got to be met head-on.

If you read my post again it is a delving/probing sorta comment, and now youve finally told us whats been upsetting you, im no trick cyclist, but i had an idea something other than what you posted was wrong, wether it was your mrs and kids leaving or your land had been reclaimed, i didnt know, i just felt you were very upset by more than a contradictory post on here, Thats just water of a cassavas leaves surely,,

You have a lot more friends on TV than you might think, all the people who read your posts and dont reply, I for one read all of yours, IA,Ozzydom, and many more, all a great help and so good for information,

Im sure all the posters here wish you the best of luck Khonwan, including myself of course,

Fingers crossed for you mate, Lickey..

  13. Clique? mm, interesting, id love to go one of these meetings, seems the good old boys drinking whiskey and rye have a very good time, its quite a distance from me too, and my health hasnt been good for the last year or so, but a weekend away would be great, just to get the Mrs out of her Salon, I thought about teaching english in the town school and have on several occasins been offered this job, ive always said no, because i dont really have the patience and i know if i got wound up at school i would bring it home with me, taking it out on the Mrs, or on here in one way or another, anger control is a big part of getting older, after 6 years here, ive nearly mastered it, hence i was forced to give up farming 18 months ago, and after that i started the Farmers Sob Stories post, and i suggest thats where the OPs post should have been, without the nameing ect, thats against forum rules,,,,, Yes i know the initial feeling is to retaliate, but leave it a day or so, think it over and answer in a kind of way that satifies you without going overboard,

  14. You might well be right Kwackersaki, the look on Vales face was worth a thousand words, otherwise Spucati pull there fingers out and do what he has been asking for for 18 months now [and Moaner b4 him] they are gonna loose him,

Other forum posters say Vale has lost it, cos of his low grid places, we all know Rossi has never bothered getting pole before, he exudes confidence to fight through the pack and contest the lead, that was so much more interesting than todays odd pass for the lead from 2nd or 3rd,

Casey Stoney is now playing football for GBR Ladies football team, who beat Brazil 1-0, Casey never scored the winner!!

Looking forward to WSB @ Silverstone this weekend, gonna get the Mrs to dye my hair green, sit and watch with my Kawasaki t-shirt on and hope Tom can break his duck,

Sent to you from my marshall post at Snetterton loading an X7 into the recovery truck...

  15. Just see the on Eurosport, Lor,Sto, Ped, spies, and rumour mill has it that Spies is with BMW wsbk for a year and the 2nd year of his contract could be BMW Moto GP, Vale is really pissed off with the Duke, and i reckon he will chuck it in, can Yam afford him? along with Lorenzo? i dont think so, other options are crt bikes, who knows?

  16. Hi Soihok, reckon you must be jealous of Kwasaki getting a new Versy, so am i actually!! Im thinking about a SR400/500 Yam single, over the years ive had enough of twins and multis, cant beat the service costs of a single thumper, 1 spark plug, chain sprockets and tyres will last me ages, and ive lost the need for speed recently, specially in darkest Issan,

Moto GP, dunno about that move by Bradl on Hayden, seemed a bit fierce to me,

WSB was good, 2 wins for hard charger Melandri, 2 2nds for Tom, and a 3rd for young Baz, and BMW are closing the team ? same as Yam last year, bike and team doing well, sod it, lets close, Haslam out of a job so far, Melandri fixed up with Goldbet,

I watched it all on Superbike Sunday, British Eurosport 2, had the Brands Hatch BSB races live too, WSS and BSS, even the Sidecars which i havent seen for a long time, and a recording of the NW200 before WSB started,

Found a programme on the Net showing all this, and the races they didnt show, like the Triumph Triple challenge will be on friday night at 7pm uk time, about 1 am thai time,,

Sent to you from my ZZR1100 on a german autobahn at 170mph,,,,

  17. I would dearly like to bake some fruit & nut cakes, Things like Dundee cake, Walnut & cherry loaf cake,

Im looking for somewhere in Udon that sells raw nuts and packets of mixed dried fruit, also i really miss eating brazils, almonds, pecan and hazelnuts.

These tong garden packets are a very poor substitute for the real thing,

    Info much appreciated, thanks, Lickey..

  18. Perhaps Ducati are thinking of putting Hayden in WSB on the new Panagale, I reckon he would do well there, and Careless needs a mate to compare notes with, Also good for Duke USA, and he would be the top yank in the series, cant really count Hopper,,,

Its a better Bike selling series and next year with 17in wheels and stick on headlights, people will be able to relate to them more,,,
