  1. Thanks Kwasaki, im working on it mate,,,

I reckon Rossi will stay at Duke, and Duke want Cal cos Foggy was good news for them in the 90s, Cal is young, agressive and wants to make his mark, and what a better teacher than Rossi?

They also mentioned testing a new Duke after Muggello, so Rossi has got his way with them, lets hope it suits him, love to see him retire on a high..

Same with Dovi and our very own Carrott Top Bradley, on Tech 3 bikes, I think Spies will stay on with George cos America is helluva big market, Yam need a Yank in there unless Hayden steps up?

Same as Honda, they really need an american, Perhaps Hayden will take that seat and Marquez will have to wait? Reckon Danny will stay with Honda,

The Marshalls wouldnt help me" says Moaner, dont think id be too keen either, last lap, last corner, just started raining, the rest off the pack going for places, not a good place to be out there!!!

  3. Blimey mate, new job and youve got to sell that beauty?? what go on? think i would have stayed with my old job, [aint cos it needs new front brake pads is it] or is the new job gonna give you a new bike, Triumph 800xc would be nice with all the rave reviews it gets,

Younger brother in UK has 3 Hinkley Trumpets, 900 Trident, 1994, Street Triple, 09 and Thunderbird scrambler, 2010, and a RGS 1200bmw, which he hardly uses, nice to have a choice!!

  4. 18 months old an is only used for a shower and bum gun, problem is, when shower [or other] it just keeps cycling,

Its gravity fed,and pumps from the top floor to the 1st floor, so it doesnt have to work hard,

    What ive done so far,

Made sure the in and out pipes are clean, removed the 8 screw valve top, checked the seating of the non return valve, although i dont think its needed in a gravity fed pump,

Removed the nitrogen sealed cannister, shook the water out of it, then blew into it, it sorta blew back when i stopped blowing so i presume the diaphragm is not leaking,

Removed and stripped the pressure cut off valve, nothing un-toward inside, although the electric side of it is sealed and cant be got at,,

Removed the impeller cover, no scoring and no up and down play in motor or side play,

Other stuff, normally,if the tank runs out, the pump keeps going at normal speed, i turn it off till we have water again, Now if i turn off the water it just keeps cycling,,

With the water on, and shower going, it just cycles, turn the shower off, it will cycle till it builds up pressure, then it runs normal till the pressure stops it,

The fact that it cycles with no water makes me think it isnt the pressure valve, The cycles are about a start and stop every second,

    Help much appreciated, Thanks, Lickey..

  5. Ray, at this stage i would be very inclined to do a compression test, running with a weak mixture might have caused a slight heat seize at some time, like sticking piston rings and a scored bore, or burnt valves, quite common with a weak fuel mixture and specialy on V Twins where its happened on the rear cylinder, also iif the cooling system has been suspect.

Dont have a compression tester? you can make an easy tester,

Take out the insulation of an old spark plug, get a steel/brass schrader valve stem from a tyre shop, get somchai to braze this in the plug, set the engine on TDC, fit the plug and pump up, listen at the oil filler, carb and exhaust pipe, any rushing of air will point to the problem, there you go, youve learnt another trick, we,ll make a mechanic of you yet!!!

  6. Just been looking at the practice times, seems Danny has persisted at a wet and dry Sachsring, and weve all had that at one time or another im sure,

While im was in dry dock, my brother sent me a big bundle of UK bike mags, and in one of them, 3 journos [Jamie Witham included] were given 5k uk pounds to buy 2 bikes, like a Weekend sports bike and a ride to work/fun bike for the weekdays, [sorry, almost forgot, Thai shopping trolley types as well] so after the German GP, if anybody would like to post what they would buy for about 250k bht, will make some interesting reading between race weekends, Thanks, Lickey..

  7. Just to pass on a bit of info about tyre pressures, depending on the weight of the bus, 100/105 PSI front and the rear dual tyres, 90/95PSI each,

As i wrote in the previous thread, i really think it was a loose wheel, to viabrate the bus for 1.5 hours before the finale, cos it looks like just a brake drum on the left side, no rim or tyre pieces left, ok, perhaps the pic wasnt so good, so its possible the tyre started to bulge [for various reasons like poor quality,under/over inflated, worn out, re-cut too deep exposing wires in casing,]causing the vibes and passengers complaining, finnally resulting in the blowout or wheel loss??

Some months ago, a big Mitubushi badged double decked tour bus stopped outside our place[we live opposite a very nice Buddha temple] 30 odd thais got off and went into the temple, i was casting my eye over this pretty looking bus with the music going, the right side front wheel had two broken studs next to each other, and the broken studs had been painted over with the rest of the rim, i wish i had my camera handy!!!!!

  8. According to the witness report, the bus was vibrating for 1.5 hours before the accident, and looking at the first pic on the film posted by Katana, there didnt look like any remants of a tyre or a rim on the left front, so with the shaking and the picture evidence i would think that the bus lost the left front wheel,

    Rip, Lickey.

  9. Very True TommoPhycist, 6 years, and not a sentence in Thai, i dont really mind, at least i only here BS in 1 one lanuage, mainly from other thais, Mrs knows better than to try it on,

So OP, you want to get married? ok, one on the way, or cheaper visa? if not, no need, co-habit with your GF here for 2 years and in UK law, she is your common law wife, although if you go to live in UK, she will still have to sit all the tests,

If you are not from UK, sorry, forget the 2nd paragraph,,,

  10. Hello Posters, back after a months rest in hospital after a fall tearing some chest muscles and a nasty lung abcess, so been playing catch-up with the usual websites and youtube,

Been good this weekend to have both GP and WSB while recuperating with my main medicine, [Leo, dont tell the mrs],,

Moto 3 and 2, real white knuckle stuff, and 2 Brits on the podium, that hasnt happened for a few years, Moto 3, Cortese on Danny Kent, what was that about, team mates or what? so Cortese is the 1st of my Assen Assasins,

SR done very well in Moto 2, he wasnt belittled by the big name riders, he got on with the job, well done Scott..

Moto Gp, the first corner, Bautista takes out Lorenzo, didnt he have any brakes? so hes my second Assen Assasin, paid by Honda perhaps?? And well done Dovi, really hope you get the seat you deserve, its about time Mr Pies realised that he has to do well at every race, not just his favourite, which does make me a bit sweaty, a rider saying its my hme race, i will try to do well here, crap, real profesinal riders do well where ever they go,

    The Paragon of Arogon, well,

hard to say, was it Melandri for his 1 2, or Laverty, for showing Max the way, or Chaz Davies for his attacking maneverous on the last few laps, certainly wasnt Baldovini for taking Tom out of a certain podium,

Cheers to all you healthy buggers!!

  11. This question crops up every year or so, and of course nobody can really help, no matter what the OP has read in previous posts, you get lucky with a girl or you dont, and the ones that haveny made it are to embarrest to post what went wrong, the people that do post are the ones that they think are very happy, now is that so? do you really know 100% what your GF/Wife is up to with family and friends? no, i dont think so,

If you are on step 2 of the ladder, your mrs will be on step 8, way ahead of you, and yes, ive been there and have it sorted now, so please post if you are on level pegging with your mrs,[or think you are]

  12. Ray, you should find either in areosol form at most big truck accesorie shops or workshops, i really dont know if its availble in a warm country as its usally used in cold countries as a worn diesel engine starting aid, sprayed directly into the inlet air filter..

As an alternative, get a lenght of plastic pipe, 1/4 od, with engine running, place one end in ear and other end move round the manifold joints, listen for abnormal sucking [like a throbbing] noises.

Backfiring can be caused by many things, yes, timing can be one of them, others include a partially blocked main jet, my XJR1200 is very guilty of this, specially if i dont drain the fuel from carbs if im not going to use it for the next 3 weeks or so, air getting into the exhaust at head or silencer joint is another, lean fuel mixture making the exhaust valves hot, poorly seating valves ect..

Try not to ride the bike too much until you find the fault Ray, the problems it has could cause an exspensive seizure, All the best, Lickey.

  13. Ray, been offline a while and just read about your probs, im not really familiar with the VN800 but i think it has a solid aluminuim inlet manifold with a single carb, carb problems would suggest problems with both cylinders, which you dont seem to have,

Its possibly a manifold problem, where the flange could be sucking air, a very quick way to determine this is get a can of Easy Start, [either] start engine and spray round the manifold joints, if a cylinder picks up, theres the problem, its possible after all the strip downs ect that a flange has got bowed and the O-ring or gasket wont seal, also if one cylinder is running weak, it would explain the hotter temps.

If the guts of the water pump are easy to get at, then check the wear of the impeller to the surface where it runs, if you can get a playing card in there with plenty of play, the pump is worn out, no suprise after 18odd years, if the card is a tight push fit, all should be ok, seems like its ben stripped down enough to have flushed the water system, but a backflush with a garden hose wont hurt,

There you go mate, a few more things to try before you spend mega bucks, Cheers, Lickey..

  14. Asuming the valve/tappet clearances are correct, and guessing if its a diesel or petrol truck thats done 12000ks in 20 years, and regulary serviced, there is an easy way to determine where the noise is coming from since we know very little about your truck,

First, remove the air filter, start engine and listen to the intake noise, now, in you ears, are all 4 beats dead even? if so, go to the back of truck and listen to the exhaust note, is that pulsing nicely? or is one pulse a bit lower than the other 3? if all ok, let me know and will go for the next test..

  15. What odour? its all part of the flavour and smell of a good S & K pudding, Mum used to make them with the suet, fry and seal the S & K with chopped onins, then add hot water and chopped mushrooms, sweet small peas, once the meat is tender, pour into a suet lined bowl, fit the top layer of suet, wrap in muslin cloth and steam for 1.5 hours, we would have the suet top as a starter, then the rest with new potaoes, carrots and white sprouting brocoli, or any other veg of the day, bootifull,

by the way, mum nor me would never take the middle of the kidney out, the white fatty bit, although all recipes tell you to do this,

Here in Namsomnia, the english part of a menu reads Fried Internal Organs, never tried it, and no wish to either,

  16. Limes or Kaffir Limes? same family, not much difference taste wise, they grow in the hedgerows here and are free, if they are in someones garden, mrs asks if she can have some, always free, market price here, 20bht a kilo, i always have a squeezed lime in water and ice as a liver detox everyday, recent blood tests shows it works,

  17. I dont know who was more happy when Zarco went down, Me or Gino Rea? bloody bad move by the frenchie, Gino had the corner!!

Good racing all round today, but why does it need rain to make it good, WSB boys can do it in the dry, but not in the wet, down to tyres again, why cant WSB have bridgestone as a control tyre as i said in a previous post? specially after the Monza debacale.

And guess who Moaned about his tyres, congrads to Valentino for making the race interesting, moisture in the air helps the Duke run better it seems, i had bikes and cars like that in UK, always went better with damp air,,,

3hr Race Facts, 4 Leos & 4 King Edward cigarillos,,,,,,,,,

  18. If we look back at Moaners first WC with Duke, he was on Bridgestones, all the other top riders were on Michelins, after a lot of shouting ect, all the top blokes got Bridgestones, Moaner never won another WC on the Duke for the next 3 years, its been Honda and Yamaha since,

You could say what about Checa and Guintolli in WSB? the answer there is some tracks are V-twin, and some are 4 cyl bikes, as Donnington proved to be, Dont forget Tom has set 4 out of 5 poles this year, which proves 4cyl bikes can do it, all they need is a tyre that can last race distance,

Perhaps they should dump Pirrellis and go for Bridgestones, at least they can make a tyre to last the distance without too much slipping and sliding,

Tyres aside, Its not Rossi or Hayden cant ride the bike, Ducati just havent done the winter homework the others have,,,

  19. Valentines day here in Namsomnia, the road is closed both ends and our shop is in the middle, Its a two day affair, [and 2 nights], 1st night mrs sold 15 boxes of Leo, and numerours cans, 8 bottles of Chang classic and a few cans, 1 bottle of Archa, 2nd and final night, 17boxes of Leo,204 pints, lots of cans and and 11 bottles of Chang, and a few tins, 1 bottle of Archa which i drunk waiting for the Leo to cool,

Chang fills my stomach with butterflys, or thats what it feels like next morning, Leo, absolutely no problems, 4/5/6 bottles in the evening, sleep good and wake ok, so Leo is definitly the best and favorite beer in Namsom Province,,
