  1. Meatboy, it had fish pieces in it, yes BuaBs, it comes out of the tin in a sloppy mess, but the kittens seemed to love it, the mother wasnt so keen but she alwals did wait till the kittens had there fill, the kittens are all dead now, we loved a lot, now we are struggling to make conversation, no more pets in our house,

  2. this is also what ive been thinking today Issanbirder, the mother has been on heat recently and a few tomcats have visited, also the mother is away at nights sometimes, it could be that the neighbours kittens mother had a visit i suppose by the infected male, kitten no 5 is hanging on by a thread, and now the mother cat is getting a bit docile, so vet for her in the morning,,

  3. Would it be possible that the kittens got a virus from this cat [definenitly, it says on tin] food? kitten no4 died today, and no5 is getting lethargic and his 3rd eyelids are showing, syptoms the same as the other 4, they have seen 2 vets now, and had AB injections and saline drip, it does seem strange that the mother cat keeps her distance from them, if they go near her she runs away,

It does seem a coincedence that a near neighbour has also lost 3 kittens from the same food, i really didnt need this on my birthday [today] or any other time really, they have been great company and a given us lots of laughs,,

  4. One person tips bike on side stand with bike in Neutral while you spin the rear wheel

This would be okay for small bikes but I'd advise against it with heavier big bikes. Buy a bike stand.

I have a ZRX 1100 and I use the side stand for rear wheel removal all the time. I do have a paddock stand but that does not allow me to work on the swinging arm so I place a peace of wood under the side stand and use a trolly jack to lift the other side up. Then place axle stands either side for safety.

I would live to get a proper bike lift but even if I could afford one it would not fit in my garage.

I have often hoped the side stand would bend as the old girl sits high and I am often worried she will fall over.

Would,nt a center stand be cheaper? im sure the fitting lugs must be there, also very handy for roadside problems, punctures ect,and front wheel removal with a weight on the pillion,

  5. Poster of the year? absolute squit and <deleted>, why? we all have a say, thats normal, has anybody really gave me any good advice,, no, i usually read the the headline news here but have stopped reading the comments after, because its its always thai bashing, which [supposedly] TV does not allow, what a contradictary site!!!

  6. 2010 we came back to Thailand after a month in UK, icould hardly get my shoes on, 2 weeks later i had severly swollen feet and legs,an ECG and blood test showed endema and heavy sticky blood,it was so bad i could only walk 10 paces, stairs were a nightmare, in 2 months mrs had me booked in at 4 different hospitals, none of which really helped, the last one got me on warfarin, i felt even worse, dizzy spells, double vision, heart palpatations, stomach upsets toothache, the works, so after a bit of web time, i stopped this warfarin and took asperin 81mg, after a week i felt better, but the water retention in legs persisted, i raised my feet in bed and afternoons would lay down reading with raised legs,, this helped a bit, the special elastic socks we couldnt get anywhere, not even an airport, my good friend sent 2 pairs from UK, now i could walk without the fear of more swelling,

Things were looking up. but leaving them off for 2 days and the swelling was back, i tried drinking more water, but once water is off-cold it chokes me, a frnd said put ice in your beer, i did this, against all my beliefs, but since [2 years now] i havent had swollen feet,

I had a full medical 4 months ago, [62 yo] ECG normal, blood test good for age, chest x-ray clear [im a smoker]

to conclude, my daily intake of medicine is 25mg beta blocker, 2/3 raw garlic cloves, [eaten alone] 3 cod liver oil tablets and the 81mg asiprin, oh yes, and some beer and ice,,,,

  7. Namsom, Udon Thani province, a small town of about 10,000 people, local falangs call it Farmer City, myself & mrs understand that sor por gor and goverment land are the same thing, can only be used for farming or rented for farming, and only a family dwelling or a small rest building if the farmer has to stay overnight ect, can never be sold, only passed on to relatives,

We both think that this army action will slow the local growth of the town, also when relatives report this to the new goverment, after having been paid for the land, they could reclaim there farm free,,,

  8. Mrs as always goes to these meetings, hoping for a handout , no problem with that, im all for a bit of extra cash,

The speaker said that the military had been looking at land papers ect and found that two resorts were built on sor por gor land, as we know, this is farming only, and they were stopped trading forthwith, it does seem a bit strange to me that both these resorts were built with falang money,,

Just saying, so be careful all newcomers,

  9. After 3 catostorphic engine failiures with alloy rods, ok, old british bikes, i vowed never to buy another bike with ally rods, never had a problem with any of my jap bikes, all steel rods, standard, the last one had a redline at 11.500 rpm, and i would use it often,

Of course Miller writes good stuff about his stuff, he would say it was crap would he? you could say the same about this site for steel conrods, but the company does steel rods for all classes of motorsport, ....http://www.med-engineering.co.uk/catalogue/engine-assembly/conrods/arrow-conrods-std-length-std-pin-s-1-625-big-ends

  10. After many years working with Diesels 4ltr upwards ive never seen a broken con rod, twisted, bent, roughed up but never broken, 95% i would say the big end bolts have let go, 5% because it had to cope with a dropped valve, some rods have had the little end torn out because of this or instant overheating seizures, but not broke,

Im with Warpy on this one, 35years and havent seen a broken steel conrod, aluminum yes, in old british motorbikes, nobody uses that nowadays,,

I was a passenger in a 3 ltr Granada when a rod let go, destroyed the engine. A friend had a 3.5 Rover V8 where the rod let go and destroyed the engine. The weak link in a Pontiac engine was the cast iron rods, I used Bill Miller alloy rods, fit and forget....thumbsup.gif

Usally i ignore your posts because of your misunderstanding of plain and written english, i said STEEL rods, not cast, I looked after a fleet of Granada taxis in the early 70s, no crank/rod problems atall, only striped cam drive, [was fibre] replaced by steel cog, i will admit to knowing nothing about V8 Rovers, but i did work on a lot of the 75, 85, and 90 series cars with overhead intake and side exhaust valves, again, no crank problems,,,

As for aluminum conrods, what are they good for?? 10 goes up the strip before they need replacing???

Hmmmm, strange, my alloy rods were in the car for 20 years of street strip use, including N2O.

Theres more to alloy rod construction and materials than you think. The ones I fitted were advertised as "not knowing they were out of the box under 5 grand". Have a read..

Blimey, is that the first post ever from mr 25.000 smiley posts without a smiley, well done TA, anyway, you think bill miller is going to say his rods are crap? of course not, but many other forums do,

There is a place for aluminum rods, but for a street engine, why would you want the thought of a ticking time bomb forever in the back of your mind? Why would you want to go through all the hassle to clearance the block and possibly need a small base circle cam just to fit the bulky rods?

  13. great stuff, but i must add that for about 3 years now, for anything battered, weve always used chang beer and tempura flour, it comes out light and crispy, burghers, sauages, meat balls, fish, potato slices, banana fritters, perfect!!! try it, you wont regret it..

  14. Diesels of 30/40 years ago had an excess fuel button on the injector pump, in-cab, you had to press full throttle, pull the handle, release throttle and start, once started it would go to normal running,

Later, this was done automaticlly, excess fuel at cranking speed, engine starts, normal fueling, easy, but emission laws stopped this, now its all pre-heat stuff,,

Oil overfill? this is difficult, reason is 15 years ago i had to rebuild a V12 Dorman 1.5kv gen set engine which had seized due to one of the auto shutdown sensors not working, 6 weeks later, after pistons, heads, turbos, water pumps, hoses, injectors, all was ready to test, in the 30 min first test we had to test all the shut down stuff, low water, low oil/pressure,air louvres not opening, [containerized gen set] each test would bring in the air shut-off gates to the turbos, the 24 ltr engine would stop in under 2 secs, preventing damage to the 200k dollar lump, so, ready for the 24 hr test now, all the levels were good to go, 3 thermal load banks were ready to match the 1.5kv output, i was a bit worried about oil consumption, being a basically new engine, the workshop manual said to add 5 gallons in increments over the 24 hours, which i did, the last of wch was when it was 30mins into its full power test, it was like standing inside a jet engine, the noise, the wind, anyway, 15 min slowdown, check all levels, leaks ect, the oil, spot on,,

Many industrial oil/fuel filters of the upside down type had a spring loaded plate in the threaded part, you can open this with a biro or something and get the fluid in,

  15. What i wrote is correct, also, i havent rebuilt any tonka toy engines since the mid-70s, so what you say might be right, im not disputin that, so in colusion to most of your posts, you might be good at pulling people out of the river, but you would never think about going upstream to see why they are falling in,,,

Firstly i must say i dont know of any engines that the distributor drives the oil pump, the pump usally runs straight off the cam, it also has offset slots in the top to drive the distributor, some engines had a removable drive so it could be pulled out and turned so the distributor position could be changed,

Secondly, to wind over a diesel engine without it starting, take the connection off the solenoid on the injector pump, or find a fuse that does the same,,,

There are millions of engines out there where distributer drives the oil pump. rolleyes.gif

Just for you... The distributer gear engages with the cam gear, the oil pump drive "rod" slides inside the distributer, so, cam turns distributer, dizzy turns the oil pump. Ford used a hex rod, Pontiac used a slot.....smile.png
